It’s a bit late on a Sunday night (for the UK) to post this - but nevertheless here it is: https://youtu.be/1tsfrT1VIso Watching this back on a large screen earlier made me spot a few annoying issues that I need to concentrate on improving in future videos. I think it’s still watchable, but it shoul

Plenty of people have asked for my take on the first item here. No one asked about the second. https://youtu.be/_EdhrIRLRwA It’s an odd one this as Fosi Audio sent these things over and told me that they just wanted to know what I thought about them. They didn’t ask for a video, they just wanted fee

Here’s a simple video about my hunt for a surrogate radio for my Japanese portable stereo. It ended up being a surprisingly worthwhile endeavour though, as I uncovered an interesting gadget that I would otherwise have been unaware of. https://youtu.be/7W7iOvG1I9s I’ve managed to secure more sleep ov

Apologies for this being a rather worn-down Oddcast at times, but it is what it is because things are how they are. https://youtu.be/SGYTRW_DZZ4 I think I’ll probably have to take some longer breaks between uploading videos. Carrying on as I have been isn't really doing me or you any favours. Perhap

I’ve got a new projector, the latest and greatest…but getting this video made has been a challenge. https://youtu.be/KPCWngbDCoc I have to apologise that this one won’t have more than a couple of hours or so of exclusivity to Patrons. XGIMI needed the video to go out today (Wednesday), but the parce

This is the promised/threatened follow up to my JVC PC-V77 (My Personal Stereo Story). There was always this feeling in the 1980s that Japan was living in the future and they kept all the really cool stuff to themselves. If anything, this proves it. https://youtu.be/6tcz7qhzZtU The sad thing though

Feedback showed that very few were interested in these colour e-ink picture frames the last time I made a video about one. So I've done it again, because I make videos about things I find interesting. I don't chase views. Plus I’ve now got the sister in law’s Christmas present sorted. https://youtu.

In this intentionally meandering video I reminisce about my old JVC portable stereo as well as the music genre it introduced me to. I also find out what's on my old tapes. https://youtu.be/8-Mk9eH4YCk After this I’ve got a couple of new product review samples to take a look at. One already arrived,

A hastily assembled video. https://youtu.be/w3HwiY3p74w Unfortunately for one reason and another I’ve had limited time to assemble a new video this week. Please take this into consideration if you do choose to watch the video. Recent online hostility has discouraged me from starting on another proje

I’ve received more requests to make a video on these than anything else in recent memory. I’ve been aware of them for some time but have been less than enthused to buy any as I was pretty sure I knew exactly what these were, because I’ve been here before. A few years ago I started to make a video ab

This is a video I enjoyed making, perhaps because it’s really just about having fun playing about with stuff, yet somehow I also managed to learn things along the way and listen to some different music. https://youtu.be/VnnpiK7FvrI There are two pieces of tech featured in the video - as Patrons you

It’s that time again. I’m looking back over the last few videos, adding additional information where possible. There are also a couple of video segments recorded just for Patrons that feature new (old) tech. https://youtu.be/2d818RN0PHY Have a good week.

A product whose website rang all the scam alarm bells - so I went ahead and ordered one. https://youtu.be/x0og-gbDPTs Just a simple video this time. Well it’s simple to watch - the brief outro section took two days to record. I was struggling due to running a temperature. Fortunately I’m back to nor

This one didn’t quite work out as anticipated (neither the video nor the idea). You win some you lose some. Or at least I do, you might win all of them, if so, congrats on your phenomenal run of success. Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/3H3QRtDTE4Y In other news, I’ve got a few obligations coming

A video today featuring a current(ish) odd product from Sony. I do like ‘odd-Sony’, but even I’m having difficulty understanding who the customer is/was/should-be, for this. https://youtu.be/nY4ZbIxbvIU I had to take the car to Liverpool today for its annual wallet emptying ceremony. So I took the o

I have created this simple short video about a novelty music playing sweet/candy with the intention of serving the interests of mild humour and light entertainment. File under ‘Inconsequential harmless fluff’. https://youtu.be/cHIV9sv9Xo0 Have a good weekend.

This video went wrong - but that was the point. If everything had worked, the video would have failed. https://youtu.be/MCivbXqfqfs I can’t think of anything vaguely witty to add this time. So after a day off to do some shopping I’ll get right onto making the next video. For the next one I may see h

In this video I’m looking at a compact CD player from Teac. It turned out to be a great little radio too. It also made me realise what we’ve lost over the last couple of decades when it comes to decent honest simple products made by companies who take pride in their work. https://youtu.be/YkukwhHrQL

Here’s my review/demonstration/discussion on/of the Miniot Wheel 3 turntable. https://youtu.be/m4lMeU9nSco I haven’t had the chance to create a video thumbnail or think of a proper title and description, but I just wanted to get this video out now to patrons before the weekend was over. I’ll work on

It’s that time again. A bit more detail on the videos you might have seen, plus plenty of newly created content just for Patrons. Chapters are provided for your convenience. https://youtu.be/pED3OfSzQoM I think I’ve taken up enough of your day already, so I’ll just wish you all the best. Take care.

Here’s a mid-week type of video (at the weekend for Patrons). Some people have asked, so here’s a chat about the recent updates I’ve made to my HiFi. https://youtu.be/l0816o_DEH8 In other/related news. This one is a bit delayed because I’ve been a tad exhausted, mentally. Jumping from one topic stra

We’re in the middle of a heatwave in the UK and I believe the same goes for quite a few other countries. It’s been far too hot for the cat who keeps complaining to me about the conditions but also insists on wearing a thick fur coat all the time. Fortunately the air-conditioned garden office has mea

The Scott T-33S might be the most ‘Techmoan’ Hi-Fi radio tuner ever. I’ve been waiting to share this one with you since 2020, here’s the video. https://youtu.be/PS_ZJZ1jT84 I’ve nothing notable to add this time, so once I’ve got everything tidied away, I’ll start on the next video. Take care.

Here’s something a bit more worthy of my time and hopefully yours too. My HiFi is in the process of getting a few upgrades. This time I’m introducing it to something called ‘Streaming Music’. Yes, sounds bizarre to me too, but if you want to see how I got on with this 'streaming music' and an Everso

Here’s a quick video about an e-ink weather station display. This product is a metaphor for how my week went - good intentions but poor execution. Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/rpwClM4woGY The reason you’re watching this one now - if indeed you are, is because my plans for the week haven’t exac

It’s last day of May but before the month becomes just another date in history, there’s a new Patreon Exclusive Oddcast to see it out. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/CpwEKyAfFXw Have a good week - it’s going to be a cold and rainy one here, ideal for getting some work done without a background ch

Here’s a quick video about an Asteroids countertop arcade game. https://youtu.be/yBsM2XHOunw I’ve been attempting to take things easy for a few days, but as usual events have conspired against me having any proper downtime. It’s also been a heat wave, so the best place for me to hang out has been in

In this video I’m trying out a new premium home cinema projector, one sent to me by the manufacturer. If you’ve been putting up with my oddcasts over the last year, you’ll know that projectors have been a reoccurring theme. From the feedback I’ve received so far, this seems to be a topic that I’m al

As promised here’s another video, this time with more of a Patron exclusive window than the Bumpboxx video. It's a review of the LG StanbyME TV - you might recall me mentioning this once in an oddcast. Regrets, I've had a few... https://youtu.be/2n28a0xYcZk I haven’t got anything to add this time. I

Apparently a lot of people contacted Bumpboxx to ask when they were going to ‘send Techmoan a BB-777’ as they wanted to see what I thought of it. I guess I must have gained a reputation for not being a Youtube shill, which is good. Anyway Bumpboxx gave in and gave the public (or a small subsection o

This week I’ve been rewiring the ‘Hi-Fi’ to get things ready for reviewing some new components in the coming weeks. Since this has left me little time to get anything else done, I’ve instead taken the opportunity to do a roundup of my system as things stand today. I have to think that it must be in

It turns out I did have enough saved up for a new Patreon update, so here it is. It’s not short, therefore it does have chapters, remember to use these if required. https://youtu.be/2yaubXC-eLc Warning: Amongst many issues, this video features focussing glitches (both optically and mentally), exposu

It’s taken me longer than I’d hoped, but I’ve finally got this new video completed. It’s a rather expatiated look at the Sharp GF-777 Boombox. https://youtu.be/et4W90STW1Y You wouldn’t believe how many people have linked me to the BumpBoxx B-777 Boombox campaign on Kickstarter. I received two new em

One more dose of harmless video fluff. I particularly liked looking at the second item here, it's a bit of a classic. https://youtu.be/24e14PTJLJw As mentioned in the last update - this is a Patreon ad-free version with YouTube comments disabled. The regular public edition will appear on Saturday as

I’ve made a couple of what I consider to be, easy to watch and lighthearted videos. It’s been fun and a refreshing to make some videos that can’t stir anything up…surely. Here’s the first dose of harmless video fluff. https://youtu.be/7Zxgqw8rXmg Due to one reason and another I’ve uploaded a separat

Testing a couple of personal stereo devices. I have to mention the cat is on my knee right now so I’m attempting to write this post on my phone using the swipe keyboard…and the end of the previous sentence became ‘personal deterioration devices’ which seemed apt. Anyway here’s the video. https://you

While I don’t have a video out on YouTube today, I have just about finished this one, on the subject of Metal Tapes. I’d been holding onto an idea of talking about a certain kind of pre-recorded Type IV tape for a few years, but it didn’t feel like enough for a standalone video. However thanks to a

A few people have asked me for a copy of the Mod Pop Weasel track from the Show 'N Tell record. Unfortunately the record label is printed with the usual 'All rights reserved - no unauthorised reproduction....etc'. So while it's not appropriate of me to share the recording as a download, I can instea

Do you have a product that you’ve been considering buying for a decade. Perhaps it’s just me, but I just couldn’t shake this one. In the end I had no option but to pay up in order to free up valuable storage space in my brain as I was in danger of overwriting my PIN numbers and home address. The dev

It’s Oddcast time again. Bit of a mixed bag this one, so it won’t all be of interest to everyone. Please use the chapters to skip any sections that don’t appeal and/or overstay their welcome. Here’s the link to this March 2026 Oddcast video (there’s no audio rip version this time). https://youtu.be/

A bit of light entertainment to finish the weekend off on a high. https://youtu.be/gLwO4rdis6Q Nothing really of note to add that to this, but hopefully it’ll be received better than the chess robot video. I think it should do fairly well, after all who doesn’t love everything to do with funerals? H

My early-eighties dream of owning a Chess playing robot arm has finally been realised, but is it as relevant to me now as a new BMX? https://youtu.be/fha3WC-3DOg Right, with this one done and an empty diary for the rest of the week I’m planning to move straight on to making another video tomorrow. I

The last lava lamp video wasn’t a massive breakout hit, however the people who did choose to watch it, wanted to see more. So this video is for them. As a rule I tend not to make videos for people who don’t want to watch them, it’s very difficult to know what to show. https://youtu.be/3uWTf74mGGY In

Give me ten minutes with any product and I’ll be able to tell you exactly what’s wrong with it. It might take me half an hour to show you though. https://youtu.be/BwEY30JLcP0 In other news, due to popular request, a rather large box has just arrived from Mathmos. More to follow. In other, other news

A video that no one asked for, which took an unreasonable amount time to make. https://youtu.be/ipFePT4Z270 Imagine if you will, a lamp that takes all morning to get up and running but can only be used once per day. Then to this, add in the logistics of trying to demonstrate four different colours o

Here’s the Audio only version of the new Patreon exclusive update. The main video version is available in a separate post. Take care.

Something for the weekend. A bit earlier than anticipated, here’s my first Patreon exclusive update for 2026. https://youtu.be/2diOPJKZh_U There’s an audio only version available in a separate post. Take care.

You’ve heard of Background Music but what about Foreground Music? Let’s take a look at this AEI player and its carts and see what we can discover about this pretty much undocumented (until now) music system. https://youtu.be/yq179lvycjA I’ve been spending my birthday today editing this video. It’s n

Well it seemed like a good idea… https://youtu.be/vLJdHxp6XFw This has been a tricky one to assemble as every time I slept on it, I’d rethink something I’d done the previous day. I’d then go back to the ‘finished’ edit and replace whole segments with new bits. It’s all worked out in the end…I think.

Time for some hard hitting consumer journalism answering the question no one else dares to ask… Which is the best Volcano Lamp? https://youtu.be/HWBr-_903tM Just a bit of fun to keep the channel ticking along during the busy holiday period. I hope your Christmas has been relaxing so far. I’ll start
