QuickLick - TastySounds Audio Lollipop

I have created this simple short video about a novelty music playing sweet/candy with the intention of serving the interests of mild humour and light entertainment. File under ‘Inconsequential harmless fluff’.

https://youtu.be/cHIV9sv9Xo0

Have a good weekend.

Following a grilled cheese Techmoan video, you have an audio lollipop for afters.

I thought I'd accidentally changed my YouTube settings when the intro played, you got me, well done! They're an interesting product, $30 for a box of 4 seems pretty steep unless the candy is very tasty I suppose. Not really interested in food that plays music in my head though.

Really glad you covered these. I had reason to go to Warrington recently and saw these in a mini market under the railway arches. I was genuinely intrigued, knowing about bone conduction hearing aids and the like. Until now I'd not given them a second thought.

Grace Robbins · August 4, 2026

I didn't realize you were releasing this mid-week. Nice. 😀 I've got to put it on the playlist.

T
Techmoan · August 4, 2026

Yes it’s not substantial enough for a weekend video, it’s just a bit of nonsense.

Udo · August 1, 2026

Pshh… AltaVista? MetaCrawler is where it's at!

AltaVista or AskJeeves, ahhhh blast from the past 🤩

I checked my calendar date twice if I just missed yesterday had been the 31st of March.

Can imagine a reusable rechargeable version with a mold to make ice lollies out of them could be a fun thing for kids parties etc — a bit like a silent Disco of Sorts

Folks who ramble about you waffling endlessly are correct. But there's a market for that: us. We agree with the tempo of your creations i.c. the video's. So keep up the good work Matt

Not enough cocking, dicking and fannying about. 😁 #earliervideoreference

C
CharlieVictor · July 25, 2026

The YT comments for this one should be entertaining.

T
Techmoan · July 26, 2026

It’d be a first.

G
Grace Robbins · July 25, 2026

I just noticed that you're nicely ahead on videos when I updated the public playlist. 👍🏼 Sweet.

B
Bruce Grembowski · July 25, 2026

When you said, "It doesn't really matter," I immediately thought of the line in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance where Ruth, Frederic, and the Pirate King sing: "This particularly rapid unintelligible patter isn't generally heard, and if it is, it doesn't matter!"

T
Tim Barker · July 25, 2026

These could have been a big thing if that CEO from sony in the 70's, that was ultimately was behind the walkman being invented, had also asked for the headphones to be edible and bone conducting 😆

G
Grace Robbins · July 25, 2026

Just imagine all of the sticky NOS on eBay, though. Yuck.

B
Buckaroo Bunny Slippers · July 25, 2026

AltaVista or Ask Jeeves! The perfect end to a double speed segment of deconstructing a hip hop lollipop! Thanks, needed the laugh!

M
Michael Jordan · July 25, 2026

Unrelated, but I'd like to request an appearance by Bees Knees in the next Oddcast, if you can book him!

T
Techmoan · July 25, 2026

Unfortunately he won’t do anything unless he decides on it and for a couple of months now he’s point blank refused to go in the office.

Fun Fact, based on the Telly Savalas reference: one of Telly's brothers, George Savalas, recorded an album of him singing Greek music. He then apparently went on a tour across the US, singing at various Greek clubs. My father was a bouzouki player, and in the late 1970s/early 1980s he made regular appearances playing and singing at several Greek clubs across our state. George made an appearance at one of those clubs, and my father played bouzouki for him. I have 4 or 5 photos of my father and George Savalas from that performance.

Just Another Excellent [tasting] Video, good sir!! I also initially thought it was the player, but no, it was part of the fun! Most Excellent.

J
Josette Reynolds · July 25, 2026

I'm glad the pace slowed a bit after the beginning. The initial speed of delivery made my brain hurt, and made me feel a bit sad.

R
Richard Bevan · July 25, 2026

One of them being grape flavor is also a give away that they are for the USA market. In Europe we would have blackcurrant instead but blackcurrants were banned in the USA and nobody in the USA knows what they taste like.

G
Grace Robbins · July 25, 2026

It sounds like it would taste delicious - just like Minidisc we are rejected.

e
evilution · July 25, 2026

Annoying that they scraped off the chip data but there can only be a small number of chips it could be. I'm wondering how easy it would be to upload your own music to it. What YouTubers do I know who'd waste their time doing something as silly as that? Maybe BigClive.

J
Jasper Colijn · July 25, 2026

This was very enjoyable. And, it seems you’ve lost none of your speed, while you are ‘advancing in years’ 😅😉 On that, stay true, to what you do, and never doubt it, always a high point in my week.

J
J Ruonti · July 25, 2026

I think this cassette played a bit fast. Needs some speed adjustement. Good thing this is labeled "experimental fluff" since while funny I also feel it might have given me a headache.

p
paul · July 25, 2026

youtube needs a half speed setting for videos like

p
paul · July 25, 2026

youtube needs a half

A
Anders Enger Jensen · July 24, 2026

Haha! What a product! Should I release my music on these perhaps? What flavours whould suit my style? 😄 Maybe Cuba Baion MIDI on a Cuba Libre or a Mojito? 🍸🍭

I
Iain · July 24, 2026

Short but sweet!

M
Mateja Jezdić · July 24, 2026

The ending lol

S
Stephen Bell · July 24, 2026

Love the sped-up outro, Mat. LOL.

R
Retro Nick · July 24, 2026

This video sucks, literally lol. Hope you putting this out on general, good video

T
Techmoan · July 24, 2026

Yes it’ll be going out to the masses.

C
CheeseParis · July 24, 2026

Looks cool to listen to operas during boring meetings. And after that you get a bunch of extra CR 2032 batteries!

Y
YGFW · July 24, 2026

You’re trying to compress yet left the second U in Humor? Pfft!

Y
Yard Grid · July 24, 2026

Sweet

A
Andrew Shaw · July 24, 2026

That was a lot of fun and really funny. It also felt a bit like a two-fingered salute to all those who whine about the length of your work. Loved it.

M
Mark Hesse · July 24, 2026

On first glance, Audio Lollipops seem like something from Willy Wonka or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Toot Sweets), but it was a bit of a surprise that they're actual candy on a tiny audio device that plays real music. While I had a laugh that Mat actually had to solder his "broken candy" to make it work, it also seems like this product could possibly be considered illegal in the US, like Kinder Eggs.🤔 Speeding up the intro, outro and main body of the video is actually quite genius.💡🙂

D
Dan Fry · July 24, 2026

Thanks Mat - I’m sure this will be the perfect video for those who prefer their entertainment to be over as quickly as possible 👍

M
MrHammond · July 24, 2026

I have to say: I was puzzled at first by the sped-up intro, as I was struggling with my Bluetooth audio before (Panasonic SA-PM250, if that sounds familiar - saw once a pic in one of your micro-HiFi-videos), I thought my computer had gone mad 😅. As always: you know how to find a new obscure music format, even when pretty useless, love it! 😁

J
Jason’s Digital Attic · July 24, 2026

I prefer it at your normal speed. I don't like it when people rush through things. Please stick to your usual formula as it's worked so far.

T
Techmoan · July 24, 2026

It’s just #Humour

L
Laszlo Szidonya · July 24, 2026

Altavista :) That took me for a trip on memory lane…

B
Brad Jones · July 25, 2026

If I recall it was the search engine they recommended to us at university. This was a year before Google came about!

T
Tony Bordino · July 24, 2026

It was an alright video I suppose but it did go on a bit.

G
Gareth P · July 24, 2026

100%, needs the gaps between words to be removed to create jarring jump-cuts to get rid of all that awkward silence :-D Loved it, found it hilarious!

D
Dave Curran · July 24, 2026

What just happened? I got whiplash from a Techmoan video speeding past?

G
Grace Robbins · July 24, 2026

That is tasty. Initially I assumed my YouTube was stuck on 2X playback. As it is, a Quick Lick is very entertaining. Too bad we won't have any Quick Licks in the future because we won't have any more lollipops. Maybe a Brisk Bite instead? This video causes too many innuendos in my susceptible brain. This is a fun one, I loved it. Take care 🤍

Y
YGFW · July 24, 2026

Same! I instantly tapped the speed setting thinking, “Is that on 3x?!”

Y
Yoshizard64 · July 24, 2026

Wasn't expecting one of these! A few months ago I was working at a big snack food convention in the new upcoming product area. They had these "TastySounds" lollipops, however they were branded as "AI Chat Lollipop". They are the exact same as this, except instead of preinstalled music you have to connect to the "AMOS AI" app and you push the button on the stick to talk with it. All this e-waste and DOWNLOADING AN APP under the name of AI for a otherwise 25 cent piece of candy, what a time to be alive... The slogan on the box is "Eating while chatting" because clearly you can't do that with any other food.

a
antzpantz · July 24, 2026

So... how did they taste? 😹

T
Techmoan · July 24, 2026

They had that weird fake slightly bitter sweetness.

S
Steve Fish · July 24, 2026

Is it my imagination or is everything sped up in this video? I ended up slowing it down to .8 x speed to get it to sound normal to me.

J
James(UK) · July 24, 2026

Great stuff Mat! Loved the sped up intro and outros. Regards
