Mod Pop Weasel - Music Only
A few people have asked me for a copy of the Mod Pop Weasel track from the Show 'N Tell record.
Unfortunately the record label is printed with the usual 'All rights reserved - no unauthorised reproduction....etc'. So while it's not appropriate of me to share the recording as a download, I can instead upload the audio to YouTube and then it's in the hands of the rights holder to claim the audio. Content Match can actually be a help sometimes.
So here's the link for anyone who wanted to hear it again in full. https://youtu.be/ai93r0lSgu8
This is the Sugarcube repaired (set to max) version.

Terrific. I couldn’t get this out of my head 😂😂
Yes sorry about that, I think it might be an audible virus. I can’t shift it either.
Great, now I want a Clavinet too... :-P
This has been stuck in my head for 5 days.
Have you heard of the Mixx Analog Plus 2 in 1 Vinyl and CD Player? It's a $299 turntable with a CD player hidden under the platter. And it actually has front-panel transport controls for the CD player. But it's currently sold out.
I missed that one. I’m a little bit suspicious of it, something seems a bit off.
This is great, thank you. It's no Cuba Baion, but it'll do.
I just realized the title was probably an abbreviated way of stating 'Modern Pop Goes The Weasel'. They had to have employed top notch studio musicians to play that as the quality of the performance is really good. The break down at the end is my favorite part.
I never know if URLs will get eaten or not but if you go to Discogs, there is an entry for this - "The Aristocat / Mod-Pop Weasel". Has the production house listed but the artists' names are not revealed. 1972 according to the listing.
Flute sounds like the work of Jim Horn, one of the top session guys of the time. He did the flute parts on "Creeque Alley" by The Mamas & The Papas and "Going Up The Country" by Canned Heat.
Always amuses me that it's the least likely piece of music a 1960s Mod would have a bop to.
Yet Another Excellent Video, good sir. The music is absolutely something else, nothing I'd heard before on this side of the pond.
Banger lol
That really is a catchy version. And the Sugar Cube Thing did a good job.
Thanks for the upload Mat very catchy tune 🎵
Funky little tune! Any chance of doing the same with this song from the AEI ProPac 4+? https://youtu.be/OV2EhEd46BY?t=591&si=_wcIlOES6095vu1R I have loved this song for years and have even tried to track down a copy of the cassette. My 15 year old daughter also loves the track and reminded me of it recently.
I must have a copy of it somewhere…goodness knows where though. I’ll see if I can find it, or if not, re-record it one day. I’d forgotten about it myself.
It's ok, the song is now called '___ Goes The Weasel'!
Underrated comment
this rocks, you rock, thank you for this little slice of happiness
I thought for sure this would be something that shady "Skip Intro" fellow would have posted on his YouTube. That guy isn't to be trusted with intellectual property!
I must be losing it... I find this rendition to be incredibly catchy and quite great. 🤣
I know man. This is 60s as hell and had some good creativity to it. If I didn't recognize the tune, I might have thought it was a real instrumental track used for a TV show or something
What's on the B side?
The Aristocats story (abridged).
I must admit... This tune stuck in my head for ages
Hipcool
Or whatever reason, I can picture Will Ferrell pretending to play flute on this.
Same!
This song has been going around my head since I watched your video this week !! I’ll see if listening to it all the way through makes it stop ! Great video mat, as have been all of them.
Amazing! Thank you so much! If anyone has found more information about this recording, I'd be eager to know. To me, it sounds a lot like Canadian jazz flautist Moe Koffman.
Thank you; you're a very conscientious uploader. 🤍 You're as kind as that dear man Skip Intro.
This reminds me of an episode of "The Prisoner" where they had Number 6 regress and they had "Pop Goes the Weasel" playing in the background
Thanks Matt!! Rawr!
Maybe worth uploading to archive.org?
The perfect side for your kid to put on while they discuss the obstacles of anarcho-syndicalism and the fallacies of the class system with their fellow preschoolers…
Yeah, baby, yeah!
Groovy baby!
