Act 80

Mel

What followed lasted until the first beams of the sun fell on Mel’s used, exhausted, euphoric body; With Bastet’s house cats, which Mel now knew to be at least some of her lesser ones, relaxing around him, some curled up right next to him. The ritual-sounding music had faded, now replaced with purring from all over the room.

If he would’ve been asked what exactly had happened, he would not have been able to give a definite answer, since everything had turned into a blurry ecstasy, with him being drunk on Bastet and serving her in every way she seemed fit.

He was next to her, under her, on top of her, around her, and inside her. Her pleasure was his raison d'être. Her moans his mothertongue. Her eyes two universes, one full of loving care, the other of possessive desire.

He was ready to start wars for her. To end them, even more. He would die and live for her.

The only thing remaining his own was his pact with Lusje.

He hadn’t even noticed the moment she had planted her seed. But he noticed when they started to grow roots.

It was intense; but not as painful as it was with Lusje’s. His insides reacted with contractions and unaesthetic sounds, too—but unlike usually, he didn’t feel like throwing up.

“It is done,” Bastet noted with a smile, sitting next to him on the bed where he was lying in the nude, still panting and too weak to get up. Her hand brushed lovingly over his lower belly, with her words hanging in the air, heavy with meaning.

The first rays fell through the fabric of her robe, casting a fine outline of light around her, with this undoubtedly satisfied and proud look on her face. Her perfection and the situation conjured up tears in his eyes.

“Now, Melchior, my melody of the stars, bearer of mine own. My Umbrae should grant you the sameself ability as Lucifer’s; so let not your heart be troubled. All shall be as before, though kinder to your body. Even though they are of mine, you are just as welcome to cast them out as you see fit. Be not worried; no matter their state or growth, they endure. Don’t compare it to mortal pregnancies.

I have but only one wish: should you decide to let them go or feel the hour upon you, say mine name. I shall find thee, and I shall be with thee, to reclaim what is mine.”

Her hand peckishly dropped from his belly between his legs, making him moan weakly in defeat. “And promise you… I will make it worthwhile.”

He left her apartment about 30 minutes later. By foot, as opposed to a portal, to catch some fresh air and hopefully at least some comprehension of what had just happened. And a lollipop in his mouth, given by her as a parting gift, for whatever reason.

Once he had left the building complex, a familiar voice resounded through his head.

DUUUUUUUUDE, Lusje screamed. Mel hadn’t noticed before that the demon did, indeed, have the power to change the volume of its telepathic voice.

Immediately, his face went hot and red. He had forgotten that Lusje had witnessed… absolutely everything.

CAN I TALK AGAIN?

“I-I mean … y-yes, I guess---”

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDEEEEEEE, the snake repeated and curled in its 2D pattern down Mel’s arm that had its sleeves rolled up, and into his line of sight. Then, it poked its little head out of his skin, bringing it into existence.

“I heard you the first time----”

“YOU FUCKED THE WHOLE NIGHT,” the demon blatantly stated, now verbally.

Mel quickly put his other hand over the snake’s head to muffle its voice, then looked around nervously, checking if somebody heard them.

Nobody was out on the street yet. Not surprising, considering it was probably around 5 AM.

“Keep your voice down, please----”

“you licked HER CUNT LIKE A POPSICKLE”

Mel’s eyes grew wide, and he got even redder. He tried to slap Lusje on his arm, but the arm, possessed by Lusje, evaded and grabbed his chin to pull it right and left, like you would do with a toddler.

“WITTLE BABY MEW HAD HISH FIRSHTH FUCKY-FUCKY-----”

Mel finally managed to grab Lusje by her neck and pulled her out of his arm like a stick, while putting his thumb deep into her mouth.

“I swear!!” he whisper-yelled, “I will talk with you about this, but not if you keep screaming like that!”

The snake looked at him with oh-so-innocent, guilty beady eyes.

“Did I make myself clear?” Mel checked in, his face feeling as if it were in flames.

The snake nodded.

“Good,” he said, and let go of her, quickly walking away. Lusje dropped on the ground, coughed twice in a wheezing manner, then smacked her little mouth.

“I can still taste her, noice”

Mel turned around and came back almost inhumanly quick, in sheer, embarrassed panic, and tried to kick the demon as far as possible.

Lusje evaded with ease, to instead wrap around Mel’s kicking leg, then crawled into his panthole to merge with his body again.

Learn how to take my encouragement, boy. If you keep clutching your asscheeks like that, you’ll shit a gemstone one day, sheesh.

Mel said nothing and marched quickly in the rough direction of his home.

Look at ‘im go, man. You can skedaddle down the road, but you can’t skedaddle your way out of this reality. The reality of eating out a goddess like a BigMac!

“Lusje …. can you please … be normal about this…? Besides, it… it wasn’t that hard. Or that long.”

Your denial’s louder than your moans. Which, man, is pretty impressive.

“Lusje! That’s not true! Please!!”

The demon finally shut up, but still chuckled within his mind.

Okay, okay, kid. Sorry. Teasin’ you is just as delicious as a refreshing Coke in a cooled glass bottle right after you saw its commercial. Or how did she say? It is as a draught of clear, cool water upon a parched and burning day, Lusje mimicked her voice perfectly. It made Mel’s heart pound hard against his chest again. For fuck’s sake, that wench’s really stuck in the past, talkin’ like that. Not even consistent with her thous and thys. Do you want to be a mysterious, age-old goddess, or a crazy cat lady buying her evening carton of wine at Lidl? Pick a fucking lane.

“Lusje…”

What? I know you want to talk about it. C’mon, man! You made sweet, sweet love with your familiar!

“I… I do … want to talk about it with you, really….. just tune down the lewd talk a bit, okay? I can barely think….”

Mel felt the snake positioning itself on his arm again, its illustrated head looking at him.

Okay kid. Heard ya. I’ll try to speak a bit more of your language.

“Thank you,” Mel answered and nervously rubbed his face, in a futile attempt to get at least a tiny bit more ready to talk about everything.

How about we fetch us some nice, hot coffee and a bunch of greasy stuff from a burger joint or sumethin’, and find a cozy little spot to reflect and have breakfast? After all, you’re now eating for what, 15?

“Oh my god, Lusje!”

Hey, I wasn’t even trying to be improper. C’mon, let’s go.

One clueless, stuttered order and two near-breakdowns later, Lusje had shoved Mel into a portal and chartered him to a small but beautiful speck of beach, somewhere on earth where the sun was just about to kiss the ocean. Though instead of dawn, it was dusk.

It must’ve been some lonely island or something, because there was no one to be seen. It was nice.

Mel sat down on the ground in the still-warm, white sand, the several paper bags of breakfast next to him, the comforting warm single-use cartoned, cheap coffee in both of his hands, while he watched bottom of the sun coming close to the edge of the sea.

Lusje manifested next to him, at a rather normal size for a snake.

“Thank you, Lusje. That was… that was very nice of you.”

Don’t mention it, kid. Maybe I did it for myself, to have a nice scenic view while I listen to your recap of the latest episode of my favorite telenovela. Which, by the way, seemed to have been written by a whole new production team. Very unusual of you.

And Besides… It was pretty nice of ya, too, to cling onto our pact, even when you were all hers.”

Now that Mel thought about it, one question stood out from the clutter of feelings and thoughts.

“Are you jealous?”

The snake turned its head to him, gawking.

What the fuck, where did that come from?

Mel took a sip of his coffee, looking into the distance. “I’m not sure. Maybe because… you know. You’re my demon. You came first. And because we’re also… like… you know. Doing…you know.”

Ew, your humaness is showing, Mel. First off, I’m not your demon. You’re my human. Secondly, monogamy is such a weird mortal thing. You’re like.. almost the only mammals practicing it. You live, what, some wimpy 150 years and decide to explore only one other existence in that lifetime? That’s like having a lifetime pass for all airlines, cruises, and trains, and only... I don't know, taking the bus to Detroit.

“I think it’s romantic, even in your comparison. To love Detroit so much, you don’t even want to see other cities. We don’t live 150 years, by the way.”

Lusje didn’t answer, but he seemed to think about it.

Then, he continued: Lastly, you and I? We don’t make love, bub. We make power. Prestige. Near-death experiences. And an awful lot of mac & cheese sounds while doing so.

“We don’t make love?” Mel asked softly, deliberately ignoring everything else Lusje had stated.

What the hell?? No? I fuck you till you’re almost bleeding out, and you do your Melchior-thing and barely survive??

Mel leaned back and pulled out a bacon & egg muffin from one of the bags to unwrap it.

“Relax, I know.”

You’re such a weird bastard when you’re trying to be funny, mate. Because it's so hard to tell if you’re joking or actually naive.

“That’s part of my charm I guess.”

The snake snorted.

Then, it said: Yeah, it is.

“So… no bad blood between us…?” Mel probed.

I mean, the snake answered and made itself comfortable in the warm sand, aborting my sweet babies and feeding them to cruel predators was pretty rude.

Mel looked at the snake, concerned but also confused. “You never called them that. You even ate them yourself, once.”

I was hungry.

“Lusje, please! I need to understand if that really hurt you.”

Chill, Lady Quiverlip. I truly feel nothin’ but revulsion for lesser ones. It’s like Bast said. They are just a tool, a byproduct. Albeit a pretty hot one.

“But you seemed… fazed, when I … I mean. When it happened.”

Uh, sure? It was rude. And also a bit crass. Not for me. But for you. Willfully birthing not just in front of somebody else, but into their hands, while being stimulated, too. That’s some pretty extreme kink shit, stuff you wouldn’t even find in the dark net.

Mel gulped down a way too large piece of his meal and coughed.

“Is… is it really that bad?”

I mean… again, not for me. For me stuff like that is foreplay. So you tell me?

“I… I’m not sure what to think.”

I figured. So, are you ready to talk about it now?

“Y… yes.”
