FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-14 The arm came straight down, a gray mass the size of a filing cabinet dropping out of the air and down onto where Orin’s head had just been. His whole body shot backward in a sudden burst of green, mouth still going in a scream that had already long lost what

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-13B Orin knew what big was. He’d been in orbit a few times, after all. The sight of Earth from space or the moon alone above the skybox was enough to give you the best kind of perspective on how small you were. Or the worst, if you hadn’t ever really thought th

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-13A “State your name for the camera, please.” “Orin Hunter Kelly.” The camera in question was a big boxy thing, the tripod settling it at eye level to where he sat and the red little light on the front almost daring him into a staring contest. “Thank you. Just

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-12 “I live in the Trump Place building on 180 Riverside Boulevard, on the twelfth floor.” With a roll of his neck, Orin walked out of the bathroom. He didn’t even flinch at the breeze, body open to the cold with nothing on but a pair of green briefs and the sam

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-11 “G-get the fuck back!” There were a lot of things Orin had come to expect from his new life back in the Big 0-2. Casual racism, way more smoking, and a show on Comedy Central where Jimmy Kimmel had girls in sundresses, bikinis, or lingerie jump on trampoline

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-10B “Well, you’re all set up now.” The man stood up with a groan, dusting off his knees and the front of his work pants while a little box blinked on the floor next to Orin’s desk. “This little baby should be working real well now.” “...hope so.” A few days of

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-10A “Are you looking to move in a family?” “Nah.” Orin kept his eyes on the window twenty-something floors up and stared down at a city that was still covered in slush from the snow of a few days ago. “Just a laptop. Maybe a cat.” The pen hovered over her clipb

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-9C “Matthew Murdock.” “Huh—” Orin stumbling over literal air was embarrassing enough, but the phone shaking in his hand was almost a step too far. It was undoubtedly a surprise, though, another name dropped like that effectively a flashbang to the brain. Lack o

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-9B ‘There is no nobility in poverty.’ Wolf of Wall Street was probably one of the worst things a twelve-year-old kid could watch. Sex and rampant drug use aside, you might be surprised to find out that it had some really terrible messaging in it. Who would gues

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-9A Three days later, Orin was still in some sort of mood. Not a bad mood, but the kind where he wouldn’t mind throwing one of Fury’s Mercedes-Benz out into the bay again. If a single one was parked anywhere near the hotel, he wouldn’t have left the thing alone.

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-8 The window closed back behind him moments after Orin floated on in, an entire wall-length section of tinted glass sealing up sideways to shut the snowy wind out. The nearest chair hated to see him coming, his butt dropping into cushioned leather like he’d bee

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-7B “Oh, please…” Both mutants stood at the door, wrapped up in jackets and hats tightly enough that Steve didn’t doubt the snow outside was still going strong. “Don’t cease the gossiping on our account, Captain.” The boy came in first, shaking off the white tha

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-7A “Do not be afraid.” Arms crossed over his chest, Steve stared daggers at the helmet filling most of the screen on the far wall. The face beneath it was almost nothing but shadow, eyes glowing blue points of light beneath it glaring back at the camera. “Just

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> A CURSE UPON THEE 3-13 “Huh.” The noise around him seemed to hush, everything in the depot finding a quiet that was unknown to the place— at least to his ears. The grunting of the workers, the chatter of the hunters, and the clanking of the machinery; all of it found a way to qu

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> A CURSE UPON THEE 3-12 One blue eye cracked itself open and Finn McHale immediately regretted it, morning sunlight blinding in all its white-gold evil. Dust floated above him, illuminated through the glass of the balcony doors under a beam of that evil aimed right at him. …okay.

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> A CURSE UPON THEE 3-11B “...how loooong, Finn?” He turned a page, not even bothering to look up. “How loooooooooong?” He turned another page, ignoring the whisper-complaining in his ear that had been going on for a good twenty minutes now. Granted, he’d been ignoring her for abo

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> A CURSE UPON THEE 3-11A “SQUAWK!” Some days you just regretted waking up. “SQUAWK!” Some days you regretted even the concept of leaving your bed and that was a much more specific kind of regret; the kind that usually started up when his phone started buzzing on the low table and

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-6 It was snowing. In November. The start of November, too. Climate change has really taken a lot from us. Orin allowed himself that thought, doing his best to think of anything else while the phone in his jacket pocket just kept buzzing. He’d been ignoring it f

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-5B “The world is older than you know and the universe? It’s far bigger than you could even imagine…” People were very open with their expressions, some more than others. It wasn’t a bad thing, really. It was normal, human even. It came part and parcel with bein

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-5A “Ladies and gentlemen…” Orin Kelly stood behind a curtain, the production assistant breathing down his neck as the big man gripped the clipboard like it was the only thing that meant anything in the world. Maybe this wasn’t the best idea. The thought had bee

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-4 Real weird to be in a hotel with openable windows. Someone had once mentioned to him that the ‘past was a different country’ and, while Orin wasn’t exactly sure which professor brought that quote to him, he did know they were definitely not wrong. Because no

Yoooooooo! Just wanted to give you guys a quick update on what I've been working on behind the scenes. I've officially finished plotting out three entire story arcs: Against My Will — Arc 2 Nerd in the North — Arc 7 A Curse Upon Thee — Arc 3 And when I say plotted, I mean fully plotted, from beginni

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-3 There was no way crime should be this bad. Even if there were only like a handful of superheroes around any city that literally had the super-CIA parked a few miles past shore could not have crime be this bad. At some point, eventually common sense — if not d

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-33 He barely saw it coming. That fist rushed out at him with no warning but plenty of tell, Mark’s palms snapping up over his face a few microseconds before it hit home. Ngggh! Even still, all that force went somewhere, raw Viltrumite strength rippling through hi

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-32B “You will come with me, right now, or I will kill everyone around us until you have no choice. I am kind, so I will spare the life of your mother.” Fear. Fear wasn’t new to Mark. He’d been scared out of his mind a lot, actually. Hard not to be when most of th

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-32A “Mark, you can’t be serious!” “Mom, quie—” “Markus Sebastian Grayson, you’re thinking about dropping out of college?!” The sound of his full government name was enough to make Mark rigid in his chair, his mom’s volume barely having much to do it. Even still,

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-31 “IT’S TRINITY TIME!” The plushie being shoved into Brick’s face let out another tinny shout, both its arms flopping around like little stubby fins as Boomer gave it another squeeze. Once again, the cheap voice box let out the same pre-recorded sound. “IT’S TRI

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-30 Brick took in a deep breath as he moved over the dinner table with plates in hand, the smell of food filling the Grayson house and probably wafting down the street too. Garlic, sesame oil, and something else with sugar in it; all of them going a golden brown i

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> PROJECT ROWDY 2-29 A red trail carved high as Brick Mojo pulled the turn tight, shooting up four-five-six hundred feet above Michigan Avenue as the crowd screamed below him. Jagged green scraped right under the top of his loop, a cackle sounding off as Brick held back a sigh. Go

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-2 “-issue you a replacement birth certificate, because there’s nothing to replace—” The ball went left, the paddle moving to meet it as Orin made a vague noise. “—ere’s no state record or parent filing or even anything for Vital Statistics to authenticate eithe

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-1 New carpet sat under Fury’s feet, the Oval Office newly redecorated in the last month. Official news had run it as simply a seasonal change, a new change for America becoming a new country ‘in the face of overcoming disaster’. It was a pretty choice of words,

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 2-0 A television flickered. “—irst time in recorded human history that the existence of an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization has been confi—” Static. “—fficial interaction with our species was an armed invasion of the United Sta—” Static. “—the President

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 35 Whoever was knocking at his door had some patience. Patience and persistence on top of that, to keep that same four-beat pattern going for as long as they had been. It might have only been a minute or two but it was a minute or two too long at this point. …god

My place flooded last night so it took me a little longer to get back to writing. But eh, yeah, that's what happened over here.

Just a quick announcement: Chapter 35 (the next chapter) will officially mark the end of Volume 1 of Against My Will! Volume 2 is already six chapters drafted, and the entirety of the second arc is plotted out. That said, I want to know what stories you guys want me to focus on updating. I've got qu

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 34 “Tony, for the love of G—” “Ha! Were you about to say God?” “Tony, please tell me this is all a joke and you actually have a plan.” Tony Stark stared at Agent Romanoff as he made his way toward the warehouse doors, the look she was wearing one he’d seen more t

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 33 It was really messed up how Chitauri died a lot like humans. "You stupid human cow—!" Red blood mixed with something thicker and purple as the burst of gunfire ripped through the infiltrator’s chest, the rest of the sentence gone with his body fluid. Just like

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 32 Green came up behind him, green he didn’t put there. The shield was a dense wall, tesselated and beautiful, blooming out of nothing across his back a quarter-instant before the ship’s main gun went off. Orin had that same quarter-instant to form a thought —mos

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 31 …I’m not evil, right? The question of evil — the nature of it, the function of it, who could even be called evil — was a layered one and not one Orin Hunter Kelly could really admit to knowing much about. Even with his oath, it was pretty much subjective. Bein

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 30 Five minutes into the fight and Steve had found the shape of it. Nothing about the shape was good. Even after winning every exchange with Pietro at his side to keep Kleiser off-balance, those exchanges were somehow still coming up short on their end. Between t

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 29 Just a little past noon over Phoenix and the sky had much more than the sun bearing down on it. Antonio Edward Stark had been up in the air long enough to forget hulls — or at least stop counting each one — and start going for lanes. The gaps between the gray

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 28 “Don’t tell me…” Fire raged hard, cracked asphalt beneath and in front of him taking the brunt of the heat and flames as jet fuel trailed across the ground. Steven Grant Rogers stood on that shattered flight line, boots flat on the ground and shield up as he w

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 27 A white contrail cut clean through blue, his first missile already screaming from his wing and out over Arizona blue. “Missile away!” Fighter after fighter swept through the sky, formation breaking over the installation as two more missiles followed the first.

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 26B I’m doing that again! And it wasn’t all he did again. Constructs came in between blast after blast, green filling the sky as best as Orin could as he brought his all into the fight. He knew his ‘all’ could use some work, though; at least in quality if not qua

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 26A He was wrong about how long it would take, by the way. The Earth Space Intrusion Macro, that is; he’d estimated a solid eighteen and he was straight-up wrong about that. It had only taken him twelve. Twelve grueling hours of getting the ring not to ping in hi

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 25 “Hey, Fury!” Goddamnit. Too many curses flooded his thoughts but that one stood out the loudest and proudest as one fist clenched tight at Fury’s side. Goddamnit. The other gripped even harder around the barrel of his automatic rifle as he let out another quic

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 24 Alive. There was so much wrong about that simple fact that Nicholas J Fury hadn’t been able to fully process it fully in the last five hours. Behind the plate carrier, his heart was still going like a rabbit, rifle in his hands warm enough to fry bacon even wi

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 23 Think, Jan. Her palms were flat against the glass, her breathing close against the walls as she fogged it further. Think. It was hard with the humming, the sound leaving the infiltrator as he kept rolling the tube with each third note. It was a song in three-f

FULL CHAPTER HERE —> AGAINST MY WILL 22 “R-really?” Janet Pym slumped forward over the board, both elbows resting on all the switches and keys as she tried not to cry. “All the lines?” Wet eyes stared at the screens, red reflecting back onto her face as she looked at what she’d been getting for the
