People were very open with their expressions, some more than others.
It wasn’t a bad thing, really.
It was normal, human even. It came part and parcel with being a social species who thrived on communication and cooperation and engagement. No matter what, it was instinct to want to express how they felt even if they really shouldn’t or didn’t consciously want to.
Even media training could only help so much with what you said out of your mouth and not how the rest of your face spoke for you. Unless you were Aubrey Plaza and, in that case, you generally had the opposite problem.
Trish Walker was no Aubrey Plaza and, sitting right across from her, Orin could tell that the woman was having her mind blown in several ways. Generally, from the moment he was dumb enough to joke that he was an alien — the fuck are you doing, they just got invaded — the former child-star turned daytime-host had been on the edge of her seat.
In more ways than one.
And if she freaked out, her audience would lose their goddamn minds with her— which would be very very bad for him. So, Orin knew that he was going to have to do his very best to land the hell out of this plane.
“And when I say far bigger, I mean…” Orin Kelly held his fist up as he focused, a bright green construct forming in front of him as he screwed his face up. Seconds of pure mental effort passed him by, the studio letting out a gasp as a representation of the Milky Way formed in front of his face.
No smaller than his fist, it spun slow in a quiet dance of too many twinkling stars; the whole emerald representation looking more like glittering sand than anything else. That was no surprise, given that it was too many for him to recreate accurately with any fidelity.
After all, there were hundreds of billions of stars inside their galaxy by itself, let alone their local group. “I mean, far far…”
A green arrow circled out a small section of the Milky Way in front of him, a bold ‘We Are Here’ shining above it for a few seconds. “Bigger.”
The entire studio held their breath again, another gasp sucking the air from the room as constructs filled the whole space around him and Trish. The stage went from blue and yellow to a bright and vibrant green, galaxies just like the one right in front of him formed all at once.

I wonder what the president (and Trump) will react now he’s said things that will cause a national problem. And the ultimates. Wonder how THEY are going to react. Especially now they know what Orin went through for THREE months. And how the public react now. Can’t be a good public image for SHIELD. They could tell them about the 27 people he killed but since it was AFTER they tortured him for three months and treating him like he was a monster for months. Not to mention all the good he’s done since escaping. He’s done no wrong. Yeah he’ll be a ‘bad guy’ alright. And considering what happens in Ultimates 2, SHIELD and Fury are SCREWED.
“Not to mention all the good he's done since escaping. He's done no wrong.” You can’t kill government workers and say, “I’ve done no wrong.” Yes SHEILD is guilty of kidnapping and Tortue, but Orin is also guilty and responsible for the deaths of multiple Government employees. Which I’m pretty sure would land you in prison for life. But this is fanfic so screw consequences of leaking classified government information and picking a fight with an entity that can and will smear your name through the dirt.
YES! He told them all! He told the truth!!! FINALLY I’ve been waiting for this! Did NOT disappoint! (And I like the lore on the Guardians and the green lanterns. Hopefully we’ll get more on other lanterns? Also is he in therapy now? Good for him. And…he just told them a hidden secret that is going to cause a bit of a butterfly effect.
