“Ha! Were you about to say God?”

“Tony, please tell me this is all a joke and you actually have a plan.”

Tony Stark stared at Agent Romanoff as he made his way toward the warehouse doors, the look she was wearing one he’d seen more times in his life than he could honestly count — too many times from Rhodey and, more often than not, from his own secretary.

She thinks I’ve lost it. He couldn’t help the smile on his face. Genuinely.

"Little late for jokes, darling."

“Tony!”

As hilarious as it was to see the Black Widow herself lose it, Tony couldn’t spare much time to laugh as he hauled forward in the Iron Tech. One gauntlet went up to wave the three female Ultimates after him as he kept on the move. “I’m serious, jokes aren’t really all that appropriate right now. Unless you’re a devotee of gallows humor, that is.”

He glanced back at her. “Get it?”

“...this is insane.”

“Mm.” Tony nodded at that. “Most likely.”

Unfortunately, belief or no belief, this was undoubtedly and unmistakably a situation easily marked up as insane. But, in Thor’s defense, it had been so since they had launched a twenty thousand man Black Ops invasion of a small island to kill shapeshifting body snatchers, just for those same bodysnatchers to nuke them.
