Bad Space Comics

I’ve been experimenting with “news clips” to intersperse throughout my graphic novel (Robocop and Give Me Liberty styles!) I’ve decided not to go down this path, but Id been thinking about it for awhile so Im glad I gave it a go Trigger warning - some of these are pretty racist and grotesque, as per

Hi Baddies - I thought you might enjoy this: while drawing the graphic novel, I’ve been listening to podcasts, and I have a rec for ya: The Program audio series! It REALLY ticks my sci-fi boxes in a way that I’ve found few other podcast do, in particular using grounded science to extrapolate possibl

I just finished a new comic - let me know what you think! I really enjoyed writing it, but its creation was a curious mix of tongue in cheek and white-hot rage, so I’ll be very interested to know how it lands. Will post on Insta later this week, all things going well. My publisher tells me I need to

Bloody hell - it’s back from the printers, team! These are pics from the publisher in France - he reports it looks magnifique. We haven’t sorted an official launch date yet, but at least it means that your orders will be on the way ASAP. I cannot wait to see how it looks in person. Admittedly the fi

Thought I'd better celebrate the new book with a new comic. I would be the first to admit that dark matter and dark energy are pretty high level concepts for a short story! But I am fascinated by the problem they represent. Where and what the hell is the universe? My whole life, scientists have been

Graphic novel update 2: I’ve taken her through to the end of chapter 1! Part 1 of first chapter here. It’s interesting finally seeing how the comic is going to look. Perhaps that sounds a little strange coming from the artist - But until I started figuring out what would actually make me feel satisf

The first pages of the graphic novel are complete! Can't quite believe I'm finally underway after all this time - I'm really stoked - though I'm sure it's partly just relief. I plan to share pages a few at-a-go like this so you get more of a sense of what is happening in the story, and updates shoul

Ok, big progress to report, team! Basically I’ve completed all of the major things I need to do to begin drawing my graphic novel! At the beginning of November I completed the comic storyboard. This is the entire comic plan - 180 pages - scripted and laid out. And in another major milestone- I worke

Hi there, beautiful people! Doing something new here ... Patreon has a beta feature that allows you to create "collab" posts with other creators. Not everyone has this feature yet, but the cool thing is that Scott (Bad Space Comics) and I are testing it out with this post, and you can let us know yo

A lot of ideas intersected in this one! The Fermi Paradox of course: where is everyone in the universe? The problem with light speed: in that once you start going faster than light the possibility of time travel exists, something which isn't covered in science fiction as often as you might think, al

The book is in the post, Baddies! My publisher has spent the day mailing out hundreds and will start on more tomorrow! The video above was only just sent to me. I haven’t seen it myself, so some of you may get your hands on it even before I do! Meanwhile, Ive started to wind down my day job to less

It’s official Baddies: I’m going to take a minimum six months off my day job to work on the Bad Space graphic novel. I applied for (and got!) a grant, and combined with my Patreon, it should be do-able. The script to the story is complete. So as soon as I sort out dates to finish my job, I’ll start

I freaking love doing research for Bad Space Stories, I just discover such gruesome stuff - and Soviet history, in particularly, is hairy AF. Which, in case you're wondering, is just a little tease for my next comic - which should be out in a week or so. And yeah, it is taking longer than usual, bec

Some draft artwork for my next story. This one has been a heap of fun to draw - Coming in a few days!

Some unused panels from my latest comic. Here's a quick share of some artwork that didn’t quite make the grade for my last comic, Weeds of Earth. The problem with drawing this comic was that it was really all about illustrating a bunch of fairly abstract concepts. A process which I think is best cap
