Sharing the sci-fi joy
Hi Baddies - I thought you might enjoy this: while drawing the graphic novel, I’ve been listening to podcasts, and I have a rec for ya: The Program audio series!
It REALLY ticks my sci-fi boxes in a way that I’ve found few other podcast do, in particular using grounded science to extrapolate possible futures. The stories are both frightening and hopeful, (and this is key for a fiction podcast:) with great production values.
I often struggle with fiction podcasts because of the acting or dialogue feeling off, but The Program gets it right, with naturalistic performances and pacing.
Tho the podcast tells the broad story of a future society shaped by a paradigm-altering AGI, individual podcasts tell one-off stories, so you can dive in anywhere. I really enjoyed their latest episode for example, and reckon you will get a kick out of it too. Listen to it right here:
Otherwise, look up The Program on your podcast app, the official website at https://programaudioseries.com/, or search for them here on Patreon.
Meanwhile I’ve also been listening to some great science podcasts - my favourite being:
Science VS, Weird & Dead and Ologies
…All which have a lot of personality, but I need more! Got any recs of your own to share with us? Honestly it will help me get this book drawn that much faster. Let us know in the comments!

Tales from the Afternow! I hadn't thought of it in years but it's dark in the way your comics are. It's old, one voice minimal effects, the way podcasts were back in the beginning and it suits the material. And now I want a comics version by you, it would be brilliant! http://www.rantmedia.ca/afternow/episodes.php
Amazing artworks! 😍
This is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks for the rec! As for a rec of my own, I really like The Truth. It's an anthology with different writers so you can listen in any order. I recommend "The Dark End of the Mall" to get you started (it's written by Casper Kelly, if you like his other stuff).
Fantastic! Listening to now!
For weird fiction, I strongly recommend Limetown's first season.
Oh yeah I think my partner mentioned this one too!
Give TrueAnon a listen! Because a current events interview & analysis show should sound as if it came from within The Illuminatus! Trilogy
Ooo havent heard of that one! Yus! Going on the list!
Radiolab is great. They cover lots of stuff and have some fascinating science episodes. Check out "From Tree to Shining Tree", "Patient Zero" or "Baby Blue Blood Drive"
Aces! Will do! I’ve heard good things about them.
