Dark matters
Thought I'd better celebrate the new book with a new comic.
I would be the first to admit that dark matter and dark energy are pretty high level concepts for a short story! But I am fascinated by the problem they represent. Where and what the hell is the universe? My whole life, scientists have been grinding away at this problem, and while there have been some wild discoveries, in many ways we still seem no closer to a solution. It's a little bit frustrating, yes, but also delicious.
And hopefully those of you who are interested in more prosaic issues will still find the idea of a predator universe fun! As Arnie would say, it is "one ugly motherfucker."
Side note, my use of the world “glut” in my last sentence was inspired by the line "I will glut the maw of death" from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I’m pretty sure you Baddies can see my love of Shelly in my comics, but sometimes I just feel a need to explicitly tip my cap to the creator of my favourite genre.

This immediately reminded me of the world-building lore in Werewolf: the Apocalypse, the White Wolf game from the late 90s. The triad of deities/entities that created everything in that lore are the Wyld (creative energy), the Weaver (order and structure), and the Wyrm (destruction/entropy). And in that lore, the Weaver went mad and trapped the Wyrm in the webs it created, forcing the Wyrm to join it in madness as it fought to escape the prison of order. And the idea of things larger even than the Elder Gods or the Great Old Ones just existing, the destruction they wreak on a level utterly catastrophic for humans but so mundane for them... It's just SO worthwhile to mine and I love this angle on it.

Love it! especially how in one short comic, you managed to create dark matter entities that make Photino birds seem beneficial for baryonic life.
I had to look that one up! Although i read all his older stuff I never got round to his Xeelee books. Are they worth a read?
