So close...
Ok, big progress to report, team!
Basically I’ve completed all of the major things I need to do to begin drawing my graphic novel! At the beginning of November I completed the comic storyboard. This is the entire comic plan - 180 pages - scripted and laid out.
And in another major milestone- I worked with an actor to create reference photographs of lots of the tougher panels.
Finally, in the past week I’ve been working through the text and panel layouts for every page. Knowing how much room I need for speech bubbles and sound effects is obviously pretty key to how I frame each shot.
Anyway the upshot is, this is all the tough stuff done. AND means I am now close to begin actually drawing the comic.
Can’t quite believe it.
Stand by, Baddies: I hope to start posting pages here soon.

I didn't subscribe to this. How do I remove it from my feed?
It may surprise you to hear this, but It’s actually not my job to tell you how to work Patreon.
This is SO exciting! You've got the hardest steps done, so now we'll just be cheering you on for the rest!
Hell yessss! 🔥🔥🔥 Good motivational call, that skull-end-boss is finally in the finishing lines.. how can such stuff take a year to complete 🙈 As if the main chunk of time goes idle (subconsciously nagging), trial-err-repair until the *right* thing hits, all of a sudden, in most unlikely of situations. Do you have similar bottlenecks in your creative process? Things change in unexpected ways when projects scale, stumbling forward on the way, how to distribute and not loose track, neither of the piece nor the creative spark, when spread over time. How do you approach that?
In terms of bottlenecks, I find drawing the storyboard - figuring out how each shot is going to look, and making sure the story is flowing visually, quite mentally taxing - and I procrastinate HARD rather than work on it. And definitely: keeping track of all the moving parts is really tricky - which is why planning out the entire story beforehand is so vital to me. This allows me to go back and make sure the story and character remains consistent throughout. I’m in awe of those authors who can just blast through a story without that planning - without knowing where it’s going! How do they do that? But yeah - that structure for creating a project like this is what holds it all together for me: plot outline; character and world dev; script; storyboard; layout; drawing. And the creative spark has stayed strong throughout so far. I’m revisiting a lot of my old themes and elements and I think that’s helping to keep me on track. This is something that’s been inside me for a long time and it’s almost a relief to just let it come out.
Can't wait to read it!!
Hype!
Exciting times!
Wow hiring an actor to pose for you is kinda genius
I really find actors can bring out emotions and nuances that I would otherwise never think to include. And honestly, she was magic.
Awesome looking forward to it.
Cheers Keith. I think getting those first couple of pages drawn are going to be the thing - that's the last mental barrier I need to overcome. I'm giving myself until the end of the month to sort out the last few details, and then boom: underway.
Yes! Can't wait!
Thanks Jessica! The only hold up I think is that I have another short Bad Space story half-written I want to crack on with soon! Argh, decisions, decisions! 😆
Hell yeah! Good luck, and congrats on a job well done!
Thank you! Sometimes the end of a project seems so far away it almost feels like you're going on faith alone - but this actually feels properly concrete. Drawing it will be hard work, but also it's a known quantity and I just need to grind my way through it.
Great news!
No excuses now. 😬
Let's goooooo! ❤️
The rocket has cleared the tower!
