Hello friends! I mentioned in my last post that one of the creative outlets I most enjoyed in 2024 was a songwriting community I organized called 7in7. The idea at the center of the community, or rather the practice at the center of the community, is a quarterly recurring period of 7 days in which e

Hello friends, and happy new year! As many do, I walk the line between nostalgia and hopeful optimism this time of year. Creatively, I spend time reflecting back on the things I've spent my time doing and making over the course of the last couple years, and looking ahead at the things I'm imagining

Just under 14 years ago, shortly after celebrating our first wedding anniversary, my wife and I moved to Houston, TX to work full time for a church for the first time. Within the first couple weeks of being there, we became friends with a fellow newcomer to the community, a woman named Cyndi Parker.

Hello friends! I hope you've all had the most wonderful week. It's been super busy in my world, but almost entirely with really good things. Some of which you'll be hearing more about very soon. So, I stream a few less stories this week than normal, but I'm not sad about it. It was a super productiv

Happy Saturday, friends! This will be a semi-quick one, as it's been a pretty busy week in my world. But, nonetheless, there were still some excellent stories in the stream this week. Almost all new (or new to me). Here we go! _____________________________________ MOVIES The Last Duel (2021) I knew

Hello friends! New week. More stories. Although, admittedly not as many as normal. BUT, for good reason. This week I got completely drawn into one particular story, and spent a fair amount of my free minutes with it. More about that below though. Here we go! _____________________________________ MOV

Hello friends, I'm still trying to work my way to a negative COVID test, but finally feeling mostly back to normal. I'm on Day 17 and testing for the fourth time later today. VERY ready to be done with this. But, on the bright side, as you might guess, I've made the very most of this time by finishi

Hello friends and neighbors, Happy New Year! I'm sad to report that I'm currently on Day 8 of having COVID-19, and feeling just plain awful. Not the best way to start the new year, but hopefully I'm close to the end. The bright side of feeling so lousy is that I've gotten to watch a fair number of r

Okay... prepare yourselves, friends. This could be a little bit shocking. All I can say is I had a lot of extra time on my hands this week, and I was all hyped up from seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home last week. I went a little...um...crazy? What can I say? I'm currently slightly obsessed with the Spi

It's the most wonderful time...of the week! Okay, not really. But it is time for this week's round up of movies, tv shows, books, music, podcasts, etc.! I'm working hard to meet a bunch of (mostly self-imposed, but still important) deadlines by the end of the year, so my streaming time is down a bit

Hello friends! Well, if the last Story Stream was a marathon, then this one is a sprint. It's been a very busy week, and it will likely be this way till the end of the year as I spend time trying to get caught up before 2022 gets here. So this one should be a breeze! Here are the few things I actual

Hello friends, neighbors, and patrons! I want to go ahead and prepare you: I know I consume an above average amount of content in any given week. I work from home, and basically always have something going, be it a TV show, podcast, movie, whatever. I get it. It's a lot. With traveling last Saturday

Hello friends, Kind of a light week on my end. I feel like I had a fair amount more actual work to do this week, which made streaming time a bit lower than normal. That, and the sheer volume of Christmas music I have playing at any given moment of the day, which I left off here as it would cause the

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope you've all had an amazing week. It's been a really good one here, especially as it relates to this Story Stream. Lots of great (and terrible) content to review. Here we go! _____________________________________ MOVIES The French Dispatch (2021) Wes Anderson is a geniu

Hello friends, I hope you've all had an amazing week, filled with compelling stories at every turn. Here's how my week looked (and sounded)! _____________________________________ MOVIES World War Z (2013) I can't remember what brought this movie up, but something reminded me of and made me think "I

Hello friends, and happy Halloween weekend! Here's the streaming I did this past week! _____________________________________ MOVIES The Onion Field (1979) This was the next film up in the Criterion Channel's Neo-Noir collection that I've been working my way through for a while. Unfortunately, I didn

Hello friends! As I mentioned in last week's Story Stream, I spent basically this entire week in St. Paul, MN, with the whole Fun Parts team, recording Season 3 of the show. It's been an exhausting gift, as usual, which I will recap in detail later. In fact, I may recap it on my flight(s) home later

Hello friends! I'm gearing up for a week in Minneapolis recording the next season of Fun Parts (very excited!). That meant for slightly less streaming this week than most, (although still likely significantly more than this coming week). That's probably also because, like the rest of the world, we f

Hello friends and neighbors, If you couldn't tell from last week's Story Stream, you'll definitely be able to tell today: I'm fully embracing the Halloween season this year. Here's what I enjoyed (or in some cases, didn't) this week! _____________________________________ MOVIES Freddy's Dead: The Fi

Okay, fair warning: I watched... um... a lot this week. I wound up with a solo weekend at home, and, I mean, I'm as surprised as anyone at what happened with that time. I've been working really hard on Thirty Pop, trying to finally get completely caught up, and the episode I'm currently writing is l

Hello friends! It was a very busy last week and weekend, so I didn't get my normal amount of streaming time in, and I'm a couple days behind on sharing. I hope and trust you don't care/mind. But better late than never! Here's how this past week looked for me. _____________________________________ MO

What a week! I had quite a bit more downtime this week in which to enjoy some honestly pretty great movies. I didn't watch or listen to a ton else, but it was great regardless. I hope you've all had an excellent week filled with really, really good stories. Let me know what you've been watching, rea

Hello, friends! I trust you've all had a wonderful week. It's that time again. Here's a quick look back at the stories that have been informing my week in one form or another. Let me know what you're watching, reading, listening to in the comments section below! _____________________________________

Hello friends! I hope you've all had the best week, filled with the best stories. It's definitely been a good one on my end! I'm getting to the end (finally) of some of the trashier guilty pleasure shows of Summer, and back to some stuff with real artistic merit. (Plus a little bit of trash still, f

Hello friends! I'm a little later than expected on this week's Story Stream, but have no fear! I did watch and listen to some great (and awful) stuff, and I'm here to tell you all about it. Here we go! _____________________________________ MOVIES Jungle Cruise (2021) I married into a family obsessed

It's interesting how different this looks after spending a week on vacation with my wife's side of the family. We watched almost exclusively bad movies and TV shows, but I also had more time to read, listen to audiobooks, music, podcasts, etc. It was a very full week with regard to consuming stories

Happy Saturday, friends! I hope you've all had a really fantastic week filled with compelling stories and good conversations. I know I have. I'm packing now for a week long family vacation I've been really excited about, but wanted to make sure and share first the stories I've been streaming this pa

Hello friends, neighbors, and patrons! This was a VERY minimal week as it relates to story streaming. I've been in Nashville all week for Podcast Movement 2021, and I'm currently sitting in the airport waiting to board. I'm sure I'll post a more thorough update from the week soon, but for now, suffi

Hello friends! It's that time again! It's been a SUPER busy week, as I've been working REALLY hard on getting caught up on Thirty Pop. Doing so required watching a couple sequels I haven't seen in ages... and watching sequels always requires (for me) ALSO watching their originals. So I didn't stream

Hello friends! This has been an oddly light week for me as it relates to watching and listening to things. Between meetings, travel plans, and catching up on some of trashy trash that you'll read about below, my overall consumption rate was down a bit. But, I'm good with that. I'll just double up ne

Hello friends and neighbors, This was a week of far more listening than watching for me, although that may not be evident below as I still got my fair share of screen time in. But I spent a LOT of time in the car (and a little time on a plane) listening to music and audiobooks. Here's the full story

Hello friends, I'm minutes away from hopping on a plan from Houston to Nashville to watch one of my dearest friends and members of this neighborhood, Latifah Alattas, get married. It's going to be an absolute blast, but I didn't want to leave without first sharing the stories that had made my week!

Hello friends! I hope you've all had an amazing week. Mine has been busy, but good, and as usual, loaded with lots stories. Here are the stories I've been enjoying (in most cases) this week! _____________________________________ MOVIES F9 (2021) I discussed these movies earlier this year, and mentio
