Yet another social media exodus and site link update!
Hey there! With yet another Twitter exodus happening, I thought it’d be a good time to update you on my socials and links. You can now follow me on Bluesky or Mastodon. I’ve also updated my website to saint11.art (no more .org). Everything should still redirect, but if you run into any issues, just

Gamedev City
I am very tired of social media, but there are some aspects of it that I genuinely miss. I miss when people would just post gamedev resources on the internet without thinking about algorithms or engagement. In order to try to mitigate that, I decided to host my own link aggregator website! If you he

Using 3d models as pixel art reference
One cool trick for making complex animations in pixel art, specially when it involves rotating or complex perspective is to use blender or other simple 3d tool to mock it up first. Let's start with a use case, I wanted to create a simple café sign that rotates, this was my initial sketch: First I tr

Simple Water Reflection and Masking
Super happy with how it turned out! Heavily based on https://www.shadertoy.com/view/MdlXz8 It uses a mask texture generates a noise for distortion, not the fastest, but I like the effect so far! You can see the actual shader code here: https://gist.github.com/saint11/8174e076c83e1f4b460b0b70d7644e9e

Chest animation
Little chest animation I won't use anymore. It's a simple animation but uses a lot of classic animation principles like easing, anticipation and "squash and stretch". You can also use that in a game or however you want, it's released under public domain. This work is free of known copyright restrict

Pixel art alignment
Quick tip on a pixel art technique that I really like. This is usually one of the first things that I notice when looking at beginners pixel art, since it's not very intuitive. Having everything aligned can be bad because it creates a secondary resolution on top of your main one. For example, 2x2 or

I made an online dice roller!
Long story short, I couldn't make Roll20 do the things I wanted so I made my own dice roller for my RPG system! (I'm still using Rol20 for the map stuff) Basically is just an online dice roller and chat room where you can re-roll specific dice. Feel free to use it and please let me know if anything

Dead Weight, a full RPG System
Hi there! I've been working for a couple weeks on a new tabletop RPG project. The idea is to make a OSR inspired system, but with a modern ruleset. It includes both a rule system and a world. It will be free and released under Creative Commons and supported by Patreon, like most things I do. All the

Just a quick 1-page adventure that I did on my iPad for fun. If you try it, let me know! There's a PDF attached with all rooms and monster descriptions using The Black Hack system, but it's probably very easy to convert it to D&D or anything else. I didn't playtested it, though, so it's probably ver

I really like drawing resources. I don't know why, but I think imagining random things that games can use is extremely fun, so I decided to use my free time on the iPad to draw some random resources on Procreate! The icons here are all under the CC0 licence, which means you can do whatever you want

Here's my take on how I would make a top down attack animation. I only made one direction, and I can try making more in the future, but I don't think it's necessary, just follow the same logic. Imagine a the legs, torso and head as layered stacks and they should slide in the direction of the attack.
