Gamedev City
I am very tired of social media, but there are some aspects of it that I genuinely miss.
I miss when people would just post gamedev resources on the internet without thinking about algorithms or engagement. In order to try to mitigate that, I decided to host my own link aggregator website!
If you heard about Hacker News or Lobste.rs, it's somewhat similar. It's like a very focused and simplified version of Reddit. It works this way:
People share links to game development resources.
These links can be rated and commented.
Links are ranked based on interaction.
Some key points on how this is different from social media:
It encourages people to click out of it. Once you find something interesting, you are gone.
There is no profit. No ads. No data harvesting.
On that note, we've adopted the open-source codebase from Lobste.rs.
The website also uses an invitation tree system. When joining, you need to be invited by someone. Once you are in, you can invite as many people as you want! But be mindful that you are somewhat responsible for those you invite, as we can cut a whole branch of users from the tree if needed.
Request your invite here with the email you use on Patreon and I'll approve it ASAP: https://gamedev.city/invitations/request
(Don't forget to confirm your email!)

I don’t have a personal URL, what options are there? Also I might use this infrequently, got a bit on at the moment. Is that okay? Cheers!
No problem, I'll send you an invite to the email you registered on Patreon!
Hell yeah bring back the old web :)
That's the idea :)
This is such an awesome idea! Thanks for doing this.
