It feels like just yesterday I posted the poll to determine what zine I would make next! So July has been a fast passing month here at Blackwell Games. I'm still working off of a folding table in the living room as we work to get our usual office/ computer room back in working order after the rewiri

Y'know, it's weird that it's entirely a coincidence that Shanice and I have both been working on games with "Spirit" in the title recently but here we are. Five feet apart and worlds different. Spirit Tea Update Since getting back from the UK Games Expo - where I've picked up yet another bloody illn

I've started the very exciting process of moving all the Spirit Tea stuff from Google Drive into layout and boy is it a surprise to see how little space there actually is on an A5 page. All the Spirit Tea Ingredients, Requests, and Events have all been written in a spreadsheet - I don't rightly know

I don't know if I've talked about this on Patreon before but back in my yoof I was a "musician". I put it in quotes because I was a bassist for a couple of pop-punk/metal bands and the extent of my musical ability was that I could keep a beat and play fast. Thankfully that's all you need as a young

It's been a while since I've done an update because I've been so wrapped up in finshing of For Small Creatures Such As We - 2 tonnes of which is due to arrive at my house in the next 2 days. Absolutely terrifying. But I have been plugging away at Spirit Tea in the meantime. Since my last update I've

Hey everyone, Just a quick update to let you all know what's happening at Blackwell Games HQ. We have been nose to the grindstone on proofreading For Small Creatures Such As We and getting it ready to go to print. We're still aiming for wednesday the 4th as our deadline and we've got all but War! re

From our hale and cosy homes in the Red Mountain, we brave few got the foolish notion to uproot our lives and try to forge a new destiny for ourselves. We would travel to a new land and strike the earth! We would dig a stronghold to rival The Iron City. We would make a utopia for all dwarves. It tur

Those of you who read the Blackwell Games Newsletter will already be aware but I figured it was best to do a post here too. When I first made DELVE I was inspired by the stories Dwarf Fortress players would tell and my favourite of those was the Youtuber, Kruggsmash. His videos turn the ASCII worlds

Ideas have been spilling out of me like an overfilled teapot so I just had to get some stuff down last night. While Apothecaria is firmly rooted in magical healthcare, Spirit Tea customers can be more varied in their requests. Anything from needing help finding a lost item to wanting a spirit to ble

Hey everyone, As a starting writer, I'm realising that it's probably better for me to get my work out in front of as many eyes as possible so rather than splitting this patreon into games and fiction, I'm instead going to lump them all together. What this means is that the Storyteller and Storymaste

It's been a while since we've done a poll and really got a gauge of what y'all want. In the beginning, we mostly focused on DELVE content as that was what most people had come here for. Then we started doing a lot of Apotheciaria expansions. But I'm curious, what do you want to see more of from this

Hey everyone, I'm excited to announce that my 4 zine collection of games loosely themed around death goes live at 3:30pm BST today! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/diamondblood/the-death-and-pottery-collection If you're a paid member, don't get the digital bundle as the games will be made avail

Hey everyone, sorry for being so quiet lately. For the past 6 weeks I've been working full-time on a circus performance called The Veil and it's been exhausting. We've been training 9 - 5 most days in a mixture of acrobatics, dance, acrobalance (lifting folks and carrying them on our shoulders), and

You ever check the date and realise that more than a month has slipped by and you didn't even notice? Well, in the last month I've mostly been plugging away at Kickstarters old and new. For the most part I've been doing layout and last minute design changes to Golf Quest, our upcoming dexterity base

I've had a few people reach out and ask about the print status of Apothecaria expansions like Familiar Shelter and Dance of Seasons and I figured it would be a good idea (and hopefully exciting for you lot) to see what my intended release schedule for 2025 looks like. As is always the case, things m

Hey everyone, We're trying our best to get Dance of Seasons done but sadly, I've come down with a nasty flu and it's making it hard to do anything except shiver and sniffle. Unfortunately, it might be early January by the time Dance of Seasons is done. At this point all we've got left to do are the

This whole 3 month rolling availability thing sucks. Navigating the wild world of game design on your own can be hard and its easy to make mistakes when trying to work out what's best when handling subscriptions, multiple storefronts, wholesale, and the ever present threat of piracy. Blackwell Games
