This Sucks

This whole 3 month rolling availability thing sucks.

Navigating the wild world of game design on your own can be hard and its easy to make mistakes when trying to work out what's best when handling subscriptions, multiple storefronts, wholesale, and the ever present threat of piracy.

Blackwell Games is my entire livelihood and while I wish I could just be a creative and put my games out for free, I need to think like a business in order to keep a roof over my head.

My intention with the 3 month availability thing was to limit people's ability to subscribe for £5 and get more than £150 worth of games and then cancel their membership. But in reflection, better that than them get it all for free off of some pirate website.

I'm going to revert back to the old way of making my games available to the Adventurer, Hero, Storymaster, and God Tiers. Some people might take advantage of it but ah well, that's just how the internet works.

All the itch.io links will get sorted out this weekend, if not today.

Thank you for your support. It truly does mean the world to me.

Love,
Anna

I just now backed at the Storymaster tier cuz I was intrigued by your fiction AND wanted to experience your zine games. Im excited to figure out what things I need official prints of and which mechanics I love best. I cannot access the Itch.io links however, it says I am in the wrong membership tier. Just want to be able to show my support beyond just paying a little bit to you every month. Because all artists deserve to be paid correctly for what they do and make

Sending good vibes (and $7 a month) your way. That's a good way of looking at things. Unfortunately, this isn't like software design where you make enough at a day job to financially justify a culture of free-and-open-source... but I guess that's one of the tradeoffs of existing in the Indie RPG community.

It sucks that people take advantage and there's no perfect way to deal with it. I wish you the best of luck in all your business stuff!
