🎁 Let current members redeem gifts
‘Tis the season for some updates to gifting!
Previously only new or free members could redeem gift memberships, but now paid members can, too. Try rewarding current members with extra months or nudging them to upgrade by gifting them a higher tier. Or, tell your members that they can put Patreon memberships on their holiday wishlists.
Gifting is also easier for fans to discover, with a new holiday themed Explore page to browse creators and buy gifts in one place.
Plus, get a jump on end-of-year growth by trying some of these holiday tactics.
⏯️ New plays & per post metrics
See how your audio and video posts are landing with fans using new Play metrics that show total plays and how long people listened or watched on Patreon. New metrics include:
Plays:
Patreon plays: How many times your media was played on the Patreon app or desktop. You can view this overall or by episode under Per post performance.
Amount played: The average percentage watched or listened by fans on Patreon.
Off-platform plays: The number of unique RSS downloads in a 24-hour period, either listener-initiated or auto-downloaded by a podcaster player. (We use ‘downloads’ because other platforms don’t let us track actual plays.)
Per post insights: See reach, consumption, and conversion data right from a post. Click the Insights icon on a post to open its full metrics in the side panel.
Head to post insights or a specific post to explore new metrics, and see how creator Bradam Reacts uses post insights to understand their growth.
💬 Live video recordings now include chat replay
You can now include chat replay with your Live recordings. Just toggle on the chat replay option when setting up your Live. After the stream ends, the recording (which is saved to your drafts) will automatically include the chat. Viewers can rewatch the Live and see messages appear at the right moments — just like they did during the original stream.
📩 Create better posts and newsletters
Some of you have been publishing newsletters on Patreon for a while, but our latest updates make it even simpler to draft and customize them, right from the post editor. With new support for multiple audio and video clips within each post or email, custom buttons, and email insights, you can turn any idea into a newsletter and share it directly with your fans.
🎙️ Distribute public podcasts from Patreon with Public RSS
If you’re a podcaster, you can now host your public feed on Patreon and distribute episodes to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast directories.
Manage everything in one place: Manage all your RSS distribution across your public and member-only episodes from Patreon.
Cut hosting costs: Hosting public episodes on Patreon is free.
Upsell your public listeners: Automatically insert previews of your paid episodes in your public RSS feed to help more listeners discover and upgrade to your paid membership.

🏦 Direct-to-bank payouts for international creators
If you’re based outside of the US, you'll soon be able to send Patreon earnings straight to your bank account, for a simpler, more efficient way to get paid. Direct-to-bank payouts offers lower fees, faster access to funds in your local currency, and flexible, cost-efficient options whether you earn $100 or $2,000+ a month. Access will be rolling out to all non-US creators this week.

Hi all, I have two questions about gifting: 1: when we are looking at our Total Member count, does that include gifting? It seems it should include gifting from other people (since they paid). Perhaps not people that I (the creator) have gifted, but it seems it should include paid/active gifts that are currently in use/fulfilled. 2: When someone gifts or is the recipient, how do I make the connection between the two to know who fulfilled the gift? Or if it was even fulfilled at all. I had one patron say she gifted her daughter, but I can't find this connection anywhere. I don't think the daughter ever clicked on the gift link and fulfilled it. And I don't think I can generate the gift link for the mom (or view it anywhere). It seems I can only see if my gifts (gifts I've given) were fulfilled and to whom. I know I can check out the Sales tab to see who has purchased, and then fulfilled recipients land on my Audience list, but I don't know how to make a connection between the person that purchased, and did their recipient redeem, and who is their recipient.
Hi there. Happy to help clarify. To address your first question - In your Insights tab (https://www.patreon.com/insights/membership), gifted members will be counted as paid members for the duration of their gift period. When you view your Audience Relationship manager (https://www.patreon.com/members), you can toggle filters to see who has been gifted (either by you as a creator who created the gift, or gifts shared by others). For the second part of your question - At this time, creators cannot connect the person who redeemed the gift to their gifter (or vice versa). You also cannot see whether gifts have been claimed or not, but the purchaser of the gift can see if their gift has been claimed in their Purchases tab. For the member you're referring to, you can point them to their Purchases tabs to find the link themselves, which will also show the purchases whether the gift has been claimed or not. If they have any additional questions, or need more help, especially as it pertains to their specific account or circumstance, we recommend inviting your member to reach out to Patreon's support team so they can assist them directly: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I could use help quick please :) Some of my members are about halfway or so through an annual membership. They want to get in on my Black Friday annual membership sale now. Can they purchase to add on to their current membership timeline? I know ya'll said current members can now be gifted, so this seems like the same thing - can they "gift themselves" so to speak, by purchasing an annual now at the deal, and have that added on to their total months? My annual supporters are bummed their membership timeline doesn't line up with my annual Black Friday sales. They're trying to cancel and all sorts of things to reset their timeline and get in on our annual holiday deals.
Hi there. At this time, existing members cannot redeem a discount on an annual membership or renew their membership early, though this is something we hope to offer on Patreon. If you know your current members that you want to offer a special deal to, you could opt in to gift them an free month, for example, without them having to change their current membership. Omg please fix the new tooltip bar when writing on mobile. It blocks the previous sentence and makes it veeeeery difficult to edit. Just pin it to the top of my keyboard! Don't block my text.

Being able to gift to existing paid members is huge! But how does it work? Especially for gifting a higher tier. Does it pause their existing membership and move them over to the gifted tier, then go back to their regular paid? Would be nice to understand the logistics underneath so I can let Patrons know what to expect with their billing!
Hi Greys. That's correct, when a member redeems a gift, their existing membership is paused while they get access to a different tier. At the end of the gift period their membership to the previous tier resumes, with the expiration date adjusted to account for the duration of the gift.
Love the newsletter features and more data insights. Most of my content is Printable downloads so it would be HUGE to have data on how many times the attachments are actually downloaded. Thank you for all the work to continue improving the Patreon experience!

Gonna try the gift right now and I'm so happy about the direct to bank option!! Also a little feedback about quips, I'm scrolling but not seeing anything related to crochet or amigurumi, I think the algorithm should be improved to show you something you're actually interested in based on creator you already follow. Otherwise people will only see "spam" post in which they're not interested and get annoyed.
We're glad you're excited about these updates! Thank you for your feedback on Quips, early access is all about learnings and working to improve the experience. As more creators get added to early access, there will before more posts, Quips and creators to discover in the feed in general, and creators in specific fields or niche communities and over time we aim for these updates to increase the relevancy to specific communities.
a suggestion : An update coming: automatic translation. Especially for the new post discovery format. (Reddit does it very well)

I'd love to find out from creators who are using gifting if it works for them. I'd imagine it makes people enjoy that tier for a month and then not want to pay for it for quite a while, at least. But I'm hoping I'm wrong.

I would LOVE if we could see gifted members' addresses. I send out a physical newsletter 📰 and when I gift people a membership I have to message them individually for their addresses and some people never reply. So, I can never send them anything and that's sad! Also, love the newsletter features! ✨

Thanks for the update. While I am happy international creators can link their personal bank accounts to their patreon for faster access to funds, I wonder why the same isn't allowed for U.S. creators. Why do we have to use Stripe or PayPal? Just a thought.
Hi there. Creators based in the U.S. can use Stripe to have direct to bank payouts through ACH transfers, however this is payout option is not available to creators outside the U.S. through Stripe. As such, this new update enabling international direct to bank transfers is providing the ability for creators outside the U.S. to now have the ability to payout through ACH transfers where it was previously unavailable to them. If I move my podcast hosting for my public feed to Patreon, can I later migrate off of Patreon if I need to? In other words, do you support setting up a 301 redirect from the Patreon RSS to point to a new host?
Hi Aaron, we are working on adding 301 redirects by the end of this year! At that time, you'd be able to easily migrate off of Patreon if needed.
