What did we do this week? (February 4th 2021)
Fei : This week was mainly all about the Taipei Game Show, it was quite boring to me and there wasn't much games to try. However I got to play Neon Tail a lot, I found some new bugs but overall got a lot better at jumping from grind to grind. I figured this will be my next Devlog subject as it has a double advantage, teaching the audience how to do awesome jumps and talk a bit about how it is coded.
Other than that, I've fixed some dancing animations that had jaws rotation problems.
Leo : Last two weeks we were all busy on the Taipei Game Show 2021.
Because I am not living in Taipei, I needed to stay at Yang's place during TGS.
Maybe it's because I'm not used to sleep in a bed that isn't mine, I felt awful and kind of down during those 5 days. So I couldn't really help much over there, I just wandered around and took some pictures, replaced Yang during his resting time.
Because of the COVID-19, there are way fewer exhibitors and visitors this time.
However, this was our only chance in those past two years to show our game in a game show.
We did use this chance to see how players handle our game and noted some good feedback from it.
Basically we still need improve the tutorial to better teach players how the control system work, so that they can enjoy this game better while exploring the world and its stories.
We hope we can get more players to join our community, make some money to renew our equipment, so that I won't need to carry a monitor from my house to the game show next time! :p
Yang : This week we were showing Neon Tail at the Taipei Game Show Exhibition, it surprised me that there were still so many people coming to this event to play indie game despite the Coronavirus threat.
We gave players a questionnaire after trying our game, one of the questions was "What is the most interesting things about Neon Tail that you really like?".
45% of those players thought "the control design" is most the most interesting part, so we might focus on adding more content having the player play with it in the beginning of game.
Anyway... now we're back to production work!
Also next week is the Chinese New Year, happy new year! :D
