What did we do this week? (August 13th 2020)
Fei: I’ve decided to add an introduction cutscene so the first impression of the game wouldn’t be a tutorial in a small garage.
I quickly drew a little storyboard to draft an idea of what the cutscene would be, but the way I usually create visuals is reversed from my previous experience with devlogs or trailers. I usually edit my footage so they fit the pacing of a music or my monologue, while here I had trouble finding a good pacing without a music to lead my cutscene. I might need to come back later to this introduction cutscene, but for now this is what I did.

I also noticed a huge surprise on the way I wrote the Assets resource management. The way I expected the memory usage of the assets was completely wrong. I rewrote the whole dynamic props loading system so props properly streams their loading and unloading as the player moves around. This should lead to a huge memory optimization and loading time improvement.
Leo: This week I'm still fighting with the materials update but I'm finally starting to see the end of it.
After that I will work on a new street race and a new side mission featuring Toast from the Acid Frogs, I'll try to have it ready for the next monthly update.
I've also been testing the dialog's custom camera system that I wasn't very familiar with on new missions.
If everything's alright, we'll update all the side missions to use it. Hope you'll enjoy it.
