GGGB vs ORS: Themes
GGGB didn’t start with a defined theme. You can play the story of a nice girl who delves deep into the criminal underworld of her city, who learns to exploit her sexuality to get what she wants, who finds love in her best friend, who loses her mind to lust... The game was more of a playground for the player to follow his whims and explore romantic, horny and outlandish scenarios.
In ORS I wanted to keep that overall feeling, but I felt the desire to delve deeper into some of the themes that appeared on GGGB but could only explore superficially. What would you choose: the love of a comforting relationship or the pleasurable temptation of lust? Will you stay true to yourself or deviate into morally questionable attitudes, enticed by the promise of power and pleasure? How will you treat the people who surround you, your friends, your rivals? Is fame and success worth any price? Is it possible to fulfil your dreams and find love in the most unexpected places? And how should one face the wounds of the past? Do they build us up or bring us closer to our undoing?
Simply put, with ORS I want to create a stronger emotional connection between the player and the experience. After all, that’s what I think makes a game fun and enjoyable, and what I like to experience myself as a player. I feel that was already present in GGGB, and I’m trying to polish it and make it shine in this new game.
Do you feel more attached to the ORS cast or do you prefer the older one? What themes did you feel were present in GGGB and which ones do you want to see explored in depth in this new game?

I really loved how GGGB was like puddy to be molded ashley could be anyone or thing no hold bars, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing through each one but found the game abit small in it's world 🌍 like no one really existed outside of ashley's scope of potential lovers, as where ORS I feel it's more story driven then letting us take the rains but it works and I love how the world 🌎 ( in the game ) appears much bigger more people not just potential lovers that you directly interact with and I love how they all seam to have more personally then GGGB, so I would have to say I'm definitely more invested in ORS, 🙂 PS. I'm so glad about the scene in chapter 5 with Jeremy at the club makes me feel like karma still exist 🤣 And I would love an enhanced version of GGGB I feel your art style has improved vastly when comparing GGGB to ORS, side note the pool table game where you hit the cue ball is hard to do on a phone 📱 I never knew there was more then one outcome to hitting the different xxx till I played it on the PC, I mostly play android hard to download and play thies games on the shared PC 🙄
I like GGGB because there are so many possible ways to explore the story and a lot of unexpected plot twists. That's what made (and makes) it worth playing over and over again. I hope that it will be possible in ORS, too. I see a lot of potential in the first 5 chapters. There are great storylines I want to explore, depravity and romance, and a lot of interesting characters to play and interact with. I think ORS is a great game built on a strong foundation that is GGGB.
I think there's a much better sense of friendship in ORS, especially with Ian's gang. I like events like training with Jeremy, or hanging out / going to the bar with the group. Characters feel way more fleshed out individually of course, but the entire friend group also has its own little set of politics and relationships (with people growing apart or changing, arguments or new hookups shaking the group's dynamic). It's quite comfy and it automatically makes me like everyone in the group when they vibe so well with each other.
I'd say that the biggest difference is the protagonists. Ashley wasn't as well defined, while Ian and Lena feel more like real people. To +1 what Koskesh said, I think that the possible stripper/Stalkfap/pornstar for Lena is appealing because it feels a bit unexplored. I think that a Jack-reversal for Ian sounds interesting too. In GGGB, Jack, a NPC, was the ultimate alpha who could land any woman he wanted, including stealing Eric's GF away. It would be interesting to see Ian turn into an MMA beast stealing a (not so innocent) Lena away from Robert, for example. And what's saying that Lena can't combine music with the art of fucking? Pop stars do that (more or less explicitly) all the time :P Not to say that the cast from GGGB sucked, though. They just developed over the game instead, with tropes like Jessica and Jack getting a lot of depth. There shouldn't obviously be a complete retread of the themes from GGGB, but in some cases, a reversal of a theme, or going more in-depth of a theme can be enough!
I feel much more attached to ORS characters. GGGB started out well, but I think there was (a) too much drift in the personalities of individual characters, (b) too little interaction between the various story lines, (c) a sense of no overall direction for the story. That last one may be fairly realistic as people often just go through life doing the best they can, and tell themselves there was a plot to it in hindsight ;) but it doesn't make for a good story with a beginning, middle, and an end. (a) was really what made me lose interest after a while, because for several characters - especially Ashley and Eva - I would sometimes find myself thinking that radical changes had come out of the blue, and that I didn't recognize that person anymore. I think so far you've done an amazing job of characterizing the cast of ORS in terms of personality and motivation, and I love how we're slowly being given the levers to nudge them in one direction or another - within a plausible window of paths that make some kind of sense for who they are. Looking forward to more of those delicious temptations you throw our way ;)
It’s difficult to make an assessment this early on. Thus far, I’d say I have mixed emotions. Sometimes, I feel the cast in ORS are slightly too “artsy”; they tend to express themselves more poetically and engage in matters such as literature, art, music and philosophy. Personally, as those topics are not as appealing to me, I occasionally find them more difficult to relate to, or a little dull. That being said, I still like several of them more than their GGGB counterparts. For example, the way I enjoyed Cindy’s scene in the last Chapter was probably more than I ever enjoyed one of Eva’s scenes in GGGB. The opportunities with Alison also excite me tremendously, so the cast is also very strong in that sense. Like Julian, I felt one of the greatest strengths of GGGB was the variety in the storylines, as well as the fact that it explored avenues that no other game has explored – gang leader Ashley being the obvious example. To me, this was also a clear USP, so in some regard, I feel it should be elevated even more, that this time round it should go even further, and try even more things. However, I still think you are making the right choice by exploring the different paths deeper, rather than exploring a ton of them shallowly. We don’t need another game that goes into a gang route, sugar daddy routes and lesbian routes all at the same time. I would rather exchange one of those for a more developed porn star route, which coincidentally bring me to the first theme I would like to see explored more deeply in ORS. Lena’s current situation clearly doesn’t bring her too far off from such a development. She could gradually go further and further on Stalkfap, until a company offers her a job in porn. Looking at her money situation, as well as the comfortability she would have gained in that setting, it is rather reasonable thing to happen. I felt porn star Ashley’s time was cut a little short, so I would want to see a greater development here, exploring all the different things that could happen in that setting. Speaking of such things, escorting/prostitution is also something that could be explored. What if Lena one day decides to take one of her mysterious followers up on the offer of $5,000 for a night? What would the implications be if she started escorting? That is certainly exciting to me. Another theme, which I believe someone mentioned, was open relationships/hotwifing. I am not into the whole cuck scene, but I definitely find the idea of a hotwife to be highly appealing. Alison would evidently be the best example right now; could she and Ian enter some type of relationship that includes her getting frisky with others? Concerning Alison, I would also find it quite fun if she’d become the friend group slut. Jeremy can already share his intimate moments with him, so why can’t Ian? I can just imagine a situation where they are all hanging out and no one is addressing the elephant in the room (which Alison isn’t aware of) that they have all seen her get raw-dogged. Moreover, I’ve already mentioned that I love Stalkfap as a concept, so I wish to see that more explored as well. Ian subscribing to Lena, Cindy following her suit and making one for herself, Jeremy leaking all of his escapades on there, etcetera. I’d really love to see the social media landscape come alive and make out a crucial part of the story. As I’ve also mentioned before, I think it would be fun if the first time we see Lena and Ivy have sex is in the context of Stalkfap, that they simply decided to do a lesbian scene together. The same goes for Stan, who could also get his first taste of Lena that way. Lastly, and I am aware this is incredibly taxing on development, but I would like to see even more body modification. It ties into the argument of USPs; rather than toning the unique things that only you do down, accentuate it further, offer even more possibilities. I would like to see more elaborate and bigger tattoo pieces; sleeves, back pieces, stomach tattoos, chest etcetera. Breast implants, ass implants, lip injections. Different hair colours and style, clothing options, you name it, I want it. Of course, I understand this might be impossible from a strictly mechanical standpoint, but one thing I can be absolutely sure of, is that if I wouldn’t even mention it, then it definitely wouldn’t happen. So overall, this turned out to be more of a wish list and idea comment rather than a reflection on the differences between the games. But all in all, I think it’s the right thing to try with a more focused and deeper experience with fewer routes, where the highs will come from how far you can go rather than how many things you can do. I hope some of the themes I have brough up will be part of that.
Eloquent and I agree with you :), especially about the sugar daddy/thug/pornstar sentiment. The stripper/pornstar route wasn't explored as much as maybe I'd like, and it feels a bit fresher. Lena and Ivy using Stalkfap for friends with benefits-purposes feel natural, as well. I've mentioned earlier how new body modifications and clothes kinda feel similar to how you progress in a mainstream RPG with better gear, so that's something I like too. But I certainly understand how there's a limit to how much can be implemented due to the increased workload, so it needs to be balanced.
Yes , something I can answer lol. Im way more attached to the characters in ORS than GGGB. Its not just the interactions with the characters but the setting, music, and the overall tone. I want my characters to be specific to my liking for their personality development more, than just seeing which scene I could unlock. I personally think that themes In GGGB could be used in ORS and it would still be likely. As long as the level of drama stays where it is, no matter what theme you throw in there, I'd still be hooked on the characters and the deep dive.
ORS is pretty much on a rail in comparison to GGGB. To compare the two does a disservice to both; GGGB was never going to be able to have as complicated a plot as ORS because of the complete malleability of the story that GGGB achieved through virtually everything affecting the potential ending.
Both are really hard to compare. I really REALLY loved the Choose-your-own-adventure aspect of GGGB. No game has executed this as beautifully. The depth in that game -for me- came with being able to identify with the path I chose. ORS is different. I don't care much for any of the male protagonists to be honest, but I love the emotional connection I have with Lena (and the other girls to an extent) too. But in the end ORS is Lena's story, not mine (like it was with GGGB). And that is fine of course.
I wouldn't get too obsessed comparing the two. They are different games, with different styles, each has it merits. It's a little like asking if you prefer a three course meal to a buffet. ORS offers a tighter narrative but GGGB offers more freedom to pursue things which interest you. Ian/Lena can choose to sleep with multiple different people or choose how they pursue their careers, but they don't look likely to throw their current job in and become a criminal mastermind. The joy of Ashley is she is just starting out, and has her whole life ahead of her, and can do well or make an absolute mess of it, lose touch with old friends and make new ones or stay with what she knows. In ORS you are confined by the needs of the narrative, and that's not a bad thing, but at the same time, I wouldn't want every visual novel I read to be this way, variety is the spice of life.
Even if I try to disregard the much better graphics and character backgrounds etc. I must say that ORS way outperforms GGGB when it comes to story depth so far. And I really like GGGB, it's still a great game with it's many paths. As for paths I would like to see in ORS that we have not seen yet I guess I am looking for different fallen/corrupted paths for Lena. Maybe escort or prostitution paths - it's a slippery slope. Too late I mentioned this on GGGB that the story with Arthur or with Norman both could lead to Ashley becoming an escort. And with Wilson there was a potential for a seedier prostitution storyline. Where she'd pay of her debt to the gang not by borrowing money or trying to rob someone but by using her body... and a slippery slope into prostitution could be started. Maybe this could be included as a possible path for Lena?
I really like how Lena is developing in the game, I going to explore the submissive path.
I definitely like the depth of ORS. I feel GGGB was a good starting point in practicing storytelling in game, going with the superficial cliques of the games. And ORS is taking what you learned and adding more to the potential depth of the characters.
ORS certainly has a lot more polish and not long into starting it I had a better sense of where it was heading (possibly). While GGGB first appeared as a good girl explores her sexuality story it took a lot of twists and turns I was not expecting, but that was part of what made me love it, as you didn’t know just how deep the rabbit hole went... The gang route, the depraved and glorious "romance" with Arthur, and the swingers club story, those were the three story lines I loved the most. That’s the only thing which is missing from ORS right now, but that said if there are unknown plot twists I hopefully won’t see them coming. For me the obvious route in ORS is the romance between Ian and Lena, question is will it be a monogamous one or will there be swinging/sharing or cheating routes? Apart from that the stories I’m hoping for are: Lena and Holly (I just get a sense there’s a possible lesbian story there), Lena and Seymour (I see this being a dom/sub relationship) and Ian and Cindy (with a massive fallout if they are found out). I’m sure there are others but those are the three I’m most curious about, and I also hope there are some unknown twists coming too!
