Vileblood Bomb
Greetings adventurers!
The fact that someone has taken the time to not only extract blood from someone, but to then turn it into a weapon is a fascinating irony to me. The very thing that gives life to nearly every creature on the planet, corrupted in order to harm life. There’s something delectably odd about that and I can appreciate the brutality, if a bit on the nose. I had heard of beings from far-flung planes who can even live off of this kind of stuff. Terrifying if you ask me, but then again who am I to judge how anyone else lives. Afterall, I’m one of the weirdos that tinkers with the weave!
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
Designing items that go with our creatures is always an interesting exercise because it requires me to not only think about how it would fit in with a creature’s toolkit, but also how can I make that into something a player character would actually want. The most obvious way to do that is with combat power, but there are times where I just don’t want to do damage and more want to lean into utility with items. There’s a million different ways to do damage in 5E and PF2E, but utility can be much more flavorful.
For the 5E version of this one, there is no standard for bombs and explosives. They’re all kind of written however you want them and can cover a range of areas and implementations. This one, I decided that forcing an attack roll to accurately throw it at a creature was kind of one level of RNG too far since there would likely be a save associated with it as well. I think that’s something to remember when designing magic items, adding more levels of randomness definitely doesn’t equal more levels of fun in use.
In PF2E we have a much more standardized environment for bombs and we know how they operate with thrown Strikes. There are plenty of feats and so on that can latch on to these so you have to be careful not to negate them. Typically when I’m designing something in PF2E these days, someone has already solved the problem I’m working on in the vast amount of first party items I’ve created, so it’s about reading what’s out there and putting your own unique spin on it.
This is our last item for the month, but we’re already lining up more content for October and believe me, there’s definitely going to be some spooky in there because we just can’t help ourselves when it’s that kind of time of the year.
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

Surprised you didn't make use of Contagion Rules in the PF2e version
