One More Thing: Putriphlemer

Greetings Adventurers,

Ah it's getting to be the spookiest time of year and that means we're getting into making some weird and creepy stuff which is always one of my favorite things to do! There's nothing better to me than dropping something on my players and hearing them say "That's messed up" and that's exactly what I'm going for with this one!

Design notes from Matthew:

I had wanted to make something that had an unconventional life swing for awhile and this was just the perfect opportunity to do so. One of the things I find challenging in my design of creatures is figuring out new and interesting ways to make a creature feel really unique and to give it something special that doesn't run like other creatures. It's one of the more difficult challenges when you're making something that you want to release to the public.

For this creature, I had the idea of something that would have a different resource than a lot of others. I wanted it to function with its own life as its resource. Taking blood to refill its resource and then utilizing it to bring havoc on the party. I thought there was a lot of interesting potential within that because it makes for interesting tactical choices as combat goes on. How much will it sacrifice if it thinks it can win for instance.

I've worked on other resource swing type creatures before, but never one that did it entirely with its own lifeblood. That was a new spin for me and it's something that I'm kind of proud of. That's ultimately what I want to think of more going forward when designing creatures. How does the whole kit tie together?
