Greetings adventurers!
The summer festival season is one of my absolute favorite times of year. Sure the heat and humidity get to me a bit, but there’s plenty of ways to beat that as you need to. What’s amazing is all of the people coming out and enjoying the company of their neighbors no matter their walk of life. I find that to be something beautiful and worth celebrating. It’s when I feel closest with those around me and truly feel a part of a community. I’m rambling on, but yes, this staff was crafted for a dear friend and grand marshall of the parade, then came back to me after the parade was over. Are you interested?
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.
If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron
Design notes from Matthew:
We’ve been wanting to do another pride item since we did the first one a few years back, but frankly we always end up traveling in June and this year was no different. That said, we decided to make it happen anyways because it’s always an important time to celebrate pride in my opinion. Also it’s one of my favorite events of the year to attend, so getting to put out a cool magic item with it is all the better.
On the 5E side, this one was built to function in a support role in that it provides a lot of useful cleric spells that would always be nice to have on hand. There’s a lot to be said about balancing the spells that come on a staff, but the easiest way I’ve found is to just add all the ones that you think would fit the bill, then start paring away until you get down to something that doesn’t feel overwhelming to look at.
For the PF2E version, staves are a lot more restrictive in how they’re laid out and what benefits they can give. I knew I wanted some measure of item bonus for “Make an Impression” from the start, but the rest of it was all about just picking the spells. There’s no great way to do that other than reading spell lists and picking what will go well with the theme.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s release as we’re getting back into the flow of things following a vacation and some recovery time at home. It’s been great getting back into having more time for creativity and getting back to doing it on my home setup. Next week we’ve got another item and a bonus creature lined up for you! We’ll see you then!
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
