Spellcheck
Greetings adventurers!
I am an absolute sucker for a good set of goggles. I think of them as the perfect facial accessory due to their low profile, easy head mounting, and safety protection protocols. There’s just something special about an accessory that is both convenient and useful. That said, these special little eye accessories definitely come with an even more useful feature than just eye protection. You can also peer into the magical world and extract just that little bit of extra information that you may not have been able to otherwise see. Go ahead, try them on for style!
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
So as always I treat our items as two individual design exercises whenever I’m making something for each system. That’s just the best way for me to insure that we’re making the best possible item that will occupy a space in each of the systems that we support. We’re all about making things actually correct for the system they occupy and sometimes that means that we’re making completely different items for each system. The power fantasy of 5E and the more balanced experience of PF2E really necessitated something different for each system this time around.
On the 5E version, we’re looking at a way to store spells for possible casting from yourself later on. That suits with a heavily knowledgeable magic user in that system and the additional information with Detect Magic being readily available at all times really kind of just rounds out the item. I wanted to be sure that there would be a way for this to possibly not work all of the time, thus the requirement for being able to cast the spell as well as the check used to make sure you could identify it and store it for later. Really the balance point in 5E sits around how good your arcana is in the end.
On the PF2E version, there was just no way that the spell storing thing would fit with the rest of the system. I didn’t see a reasonable way to make that feel like it properly should in the end, so I just didn’t bother. I instead threw that out and wrote an entirely different item that involves a better possibility of counteracting spell effects as well as regular free action access to detect magic such that it could be more easily used in combat. I always tell folks, don’t try to break the system with items. Just fit them in.
This is one of those items that just started as a silly pun idea and grew into the final form that you see here today. I love puns as a starting point because they always end up with quite a clever sounding little name in the end. Also for me, I love a good dad joke so I will always be down to make something if it involves a pun.
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
