Solstice

Greetings adventurers!

The seasons are such a remarkable thing and to watch them pass one after another right on time, well that’s nothing short of miraculous. They say that that is no accident though as there are beings out there that dedicate themselves to moving the seasons from one into another. That seems like such an oddly specific practice, but for something so important, I can actually see the need for it to ensure it always goes well and we’re never left without the right one in place. Actually the more I think of it, perhaps other important things should have their own overseers, like my morning coffee.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

There’s been a lot of talk about wanting to do something that moved between the seasons and when Tom was releasing a sun worshipping temple this month, we thought we would match the theme with his and finally bring together the exact type of season centric creature we had been wanting to make for some time. It wasn’t obvious what the item would be until much later in development, but I knew I wanted to have it hinge on the seasons in some interesting way.

I could have pulled the direct resistance mechanic that we have on the creature releasing later today, but that seemed like it would be difficult to accurately get into a character usable slot for something like that and have it be meaningfully impactful while also not being the absolute best in slot thing that anyone could want to wear. You always want to try to fill niches and this one felt more interesting if it was a bit more restricted in some ways.

I settled on the idea of four phases as that seemed the most natural way to tie the seasons into an item and make it interesting. You always need to present some opportunity cost whenever you are making something that offers several useful solutions for various problems adventurers could come through so making one active at a time and tying it to an action really felt like the best way to make it fit.

We’ve had a blast putting everything together for the month of April and we’re looking forward to moving into spring with another round of interesting creations. We’ve got the creature dropping later today for our One More Thing release and I can’t wait to have that as part of your games. I think you’ll really enjoy it.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
