Solarium

Greetings adventurers!

The sun truly is a gorgeous specimen of creation. I’m not sure of the intricacies of how it all works, but I’m always fascinated by its ability to breathe new life into something or take it away with overexposure. It’s a fascinating duality and its radiance certainly feels divine after a cold night camping the wilderness. This staff seems to have been constructed to worship such a wondrous radiance as our sun above as it imparts that same warmth when held. It’s truly a fascinating showpiece and one that I’ll be sad to lose from my shop. Oh well, as they say, a new day will dawn tomorrow. So are you buying?

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:

The differences in staves between the two systems we design for are quite interesting and something that I think is worth exploring. On the 5E side, we’re facing a multitude of things that staves can do and many of them are not at all related to spellcasting. There are staves like the Holy Avenger that have absolutely nothing to do with spellcasting, and then we get monstrosities like the Staff of the Magi which do a freaking ton of things including allowing certain spells to be cast.

On the PF2E side of things, it’s much more rigid with staves having a set number of charges. They typically offer the same level of spells for whatever level of item they are and additionally they sometimes offer small bonuses on top of whatever spells they offer. Also they can gain weapon runes just like any other weapon can, which allows them to be good for an up close bonk when you need it, or allows you to include property runes like I included on this item.

Regardless, for me staves mean spellcasting, so that’s why you’ll usually see me designing around that even when I don’t have to in 5E. There’s just something awesome about getting that new staff and learning about all of the interesting spells that are on it. It’s something that I wouldn’t want to take away, which is why you’ll almost always see me designing staves that focus around spellcasting.

This was one of those items that we actually got the initial idea from a fun one off post on our Discord server. I highly recommend new and old patrons check it out as it’s a fun little place to talk homebrew, share your creations, talk about how you have used addon content, offer suggestions to us, and just in general connect with a community of people that like playing TTRPGs.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
