Cruyltide Kris
Greetings adventurers!
The far northern reaches are home to all manner of things that we do not understand. I’ve heard tell of something as silly as short elves and a jolly old fey that distributes gifts to all the world in one night. As ridiculous as it sounds, there are those that truly abide by these stories and practices. I don’t understand a lick of it as a person of science and logic. One thing I can’t quite explain though is the existence of the Curs. Stalking beasts that seem to be able to tell the content of one’s soul with a single glance. I will admit that maybe there’s something I don’t quite understand yet here at work. Regardless, I came into possession of a Cur’s tooth recently and knew exactly what to do with it.
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
The holidays are upon us in a big way and we decided to alter up our usual release schedule to get this and the creature out to you a bit early before the holidays themselves hit. I know it’s a little odd, but hopefully you’ll bear with us! We were excited about the potential tie ins this year so we got to work early on figuring out exactly what we wanted to create to go along with a more holiday timed release. We decided that it would be a bit of a take on krampus’ reindeer if such a thing could exist and that’s how we landed with the cur and kris.
For the 5E version of this dagger, I really wanted to include the naughty or nice mechanic that we had given to the Cur as well. It was something that felt very much at home in a 5E world. Something you have to be careful with though is that petrified is a very powerful condition so there needs to be a heavy cost associated with potentially delivering it. I decided that a generous cooldown, much more so than usual, was needed. Thus the blade breaking and only growing back after a long period.
On the PF2E version, I decided to change the balance point slightly. Instead I offered an opportunity to actually remove the blade and end the effect if the creature could successfully do so. This meant that I was allowed to turn the duration up a bit as other creatures could also attempt to pull the dagger out. It lets people make interesting choices with their weaponry. Any time you can introduce a meaningful choice to a player, I count that as a win.
Yes, our creature release is a bit early this month, but that doesn’t mean we’re skimping on our normal releases. You’ll still be getting new content every Thursday through this month including on the 25th and the 1st of January. We’re committed to providing you with the content you sub for and we’re so thankful you’ve chosen to support us through another year!
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
