S2E27.5: Death Becomes Her

I beg to differ: there is no male lead in this film. There are two leads in Death Becomes Her and neither of them are Bruce Willis.

So, I finally watched this movie. I also recognized Hunkbutler #1 as Devon, not remembering if it was mentioned in the episode.

Never expected to hear KJB reference StrangeAeons, but I guess I shouldn't be so surprised Abbi knows that channel considering the content they each cover

I'm just going to assume Abby is feuding with Neil DeGrass Tyson.

The most "being 9/11" movie I know of is Patlabor 2 which is a movie from the 80's about a woman who both works to stop but also wants to do a terrorist attack in the early 2000's after the cold war has ended and the military industrial complex has turned inwards in the form of fascism. The weird double state of craving the destruction of peace in NATO territory and wishing for liberal ideals to succeed and be true is an emotion you could call "being 9/11".

Aw, I am glad you got to watch something good. Yeah, I didn't care for the "fat people and cat ladies are crazy losers" depiction. Also worried a lot about what happened to her cats when she went to the mental health facility (yeah, I know, just a movie).

One thing I always notice is how Madeline’s mansion is clearly supposed to be Norma Desmond’s mansion from Sunset Boulevard.

I think that the most egregious convincing-the-audience-that-the-impossible-thing-they-want-sucks-actually movie I've ever seen is About Time, which eventually decides that if you have choices in your past you would do differently you should've just not have done that in the first place.

I have sort of a headcanon, and sure I know this sort of movie who cares, but I don’t think Isabella Rossellini’s character has taken this potion. She strikes me as too smart to take something that’s obviously a curse, a living death. She just sells this to dumb rich people for loads of money. Whatever method she has of staying young is probably much better and more exclusive, hence why she still appears to have a good quality of life, while the two mains are miserable in their undead life.
