Episode 28.5- Police Story
Alright, Alice and Abi each picked a Jackie Chan movie, so I had simply no choice but to round out the trifecta with what is widely believed to be his directorial masterpiece (and his own personal favourite of his movies)- Police Story!
After a drug bust goes wrong, Jackie Chan must protect the star witness from retribution- and hijinks ensue.

ABIGAIL'S DEAN LEARNER IMPRESSION IS TOO CUTE, ALSO ACCURATE
I’m really curious to see what they would think of the Jackie Chan film City Hunter, mainly for the arcade fight scene
Y'know now y'all are doing non bond movies now, and if they're all like this I'm 100% down, Hitman would be a great movie for a bonus episode.
I would like to simply advertise that i have calculated all of the pussy clock times and various statistics related to the SCUM spectrum that i have collated in one handy dandy spreadsheet, and that i spent several hours doing this because autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder etc etc. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y_F6enB-STpIOHhLDiH1f8qBSdclWRpj1dCbvtI-cko/edit?usp=sharing i need to feel at least somewhat validated by this pointless effort please
This is so great, thank you.
I got so excited when you guys said you were doing Shoot em' up. I think it has some very fun scenes and everything else is juuuuust weird. All weird and gross.
i dunno, i always felt that the weirdness also landed as parody, because it was taking the weird grossness that's also a part of action movies and taking it to an absurd extreme, but its definitely a lot more hit or miss.
I'm so sad that we're not getting the Totally Spies! movie. The revelation that THAT helps explain Abi's thing for American blondes hit me like a ton of bricks. You can still do the Kim Possible film though, right? The animated one, I mean.
An ex’s father is a stuntman in HK in the 1980s and from what I know, Alice’s description at the end about how 80’s HK movies were made is completely correct.
If you want to play the whole of Time Crisis for an affordable price, go to the Milton Keynes Movie Museum it has an arcade, I have never before played through Time Crisis because it would cost too many coins
I was obsessed with Hong Kong movies for a couple of years and watched so, so many of them. That incredibly broad humor is an absolute killer for some movies. I've had people tap out on truly amazing movies because the awful, sexist jokes just got too much for them to put up with.
Fuck yeah SHOOT 'EM UP. Everyone should see that film. Should have won every Oscar.
Right when are you doing Steve Coogan's around the world in 80 days
"one of the all time Jackie fits..." yeah but his ass looked pretty phat in that convertible in Dallas that one time
If we extene the Fromsoft idea then true, we don't really hear of them anymore but then Chan runs down a hallway and BOOM, CUTSCENE (and guitar chord) and Roof Dropped Henchman tries to destroy him. And I want this movie now. EDIT: As a man, the mere idea of Sexy Baby Voice shrivels up everything inside me.
Once again you've forgotten that you've watched THREE Jackie Chan movies! Why are you trying to memory hole Cannonball Run?
Hong Kong movies have two types of comedy: sexism and diarrhoea. they will only ever deploy them at the most inappropriate possible moment
Yep, they can literally be chronicling the rise of a legendary martial arts master and there will still be a scene where he's been fooled into thinking acting out taking a dump is a martial arts form.
