Episode 25.66: Planes 2

Sorry, fixed the audio now.

Well, it's finally happened. The Fearless and Unstoppable Abigail Thorn has been waylaid to a permanent end by a blonde secret agent called some shit like Samantha Strapon while trying to infiltrate a diamond smuggling ring.

To keep our spirits up in this trying time, we have gone back to that most precious to us, the Cars cinematic universe.

I can't believe the 2nd entry of Planes also shares a death scene flashback with the mentor figure with the first

The tagline for this movie was “When Other Fly Out, Heroes Fly In” and excuse me because I seem to have something in my eye

You guys with your educated irreverance and fuckwitted stupidity fill my days with joy, but please don't do a recording without the levelling influence of Abi again or I will withdraw my (admittedly paltry) support! :) #onlyhalfjoking

Oh, I am here for Dev and Alice, so I am content. Abi is cool too though. Starting bit is hilarious.

I always listen to the pod at the gym. Almost fucking killed myself with a barbell when the fucking enema bit came on. Great episode, not safe for bench pressing.

I was at a crematorium recently and we saw a whole bunch of people in like ceremonial uniform with like shiny helmets and all. My brother informed me these were fire fighters, and idk if it was the grief or whatever but this broke my brain because?? It feels like an insult? To cremate a fire fighter?

I keep coming back to what it means to be a cropduster in a world that seems to be absent of sentient organic people. Why do they need crops? Is it all just for biofuel?

If you're going to keep doing the second movie in a series and want to do more Hong Kong action, I suggest Drunken Master II. It's a genuinely fun movie with an utterly perplexing final "joke."

Wait hold up, planes and helicopters were invented in America, Is that why they're native american??? because they're indigenous????

Folks, if you've got to kill time while Abi's teeth stop being piano keys and twenty birds stop flying around her head...it might be time to review a few episodes of Archer. It's on Neflix, it's very Bond-inspired and if you watch the episode with the Italian prime minister Alice gets to go off about Operation Gladio

check out "Cloak and Dagger", a bad 1980s kid spy film that is probably way too intense for kids of today

I hate to spread this piece of information to a wider audience, but you said the word “helicussy” and, well… Ducks already have helicussies. https://www.livescience.com/4426-ducks-wage-genital-warfare.html

If you're looking for more animated films, Flushed Away is basically a Bond spoof

to think back when this podcast started out i foolishly suggested you cover bourne during the craig years of course, that was very silly of me, as bourne is not a movie that requires a prime kids account

Never watched any of the Planes movies but those series truly habe scary amounts of injury and death. I remember the "controversy" about the Cars 3 trailer that showed a seriously graphic crash that Lighning gets into. Truly looked like an animated equivalent of that scene from Rush where Niki Lauda crashes except there isn't anyone in the car somewhat shielded through metal and shit. It's basically a body being terrificly smashed and ragdolled about. These movies are so messed up lol.

If they have the Empire State building I wonder if that means the King Kong climax involves sentient planes. But then what would King Kong be? What would the woman be?

y'all should really watch Cars 3; there's car mortality, car segregation (‽) and car prohibition

I can't wait for them to take the franchise to it's natural conclusion by going to space in John CARpenter's Ghosts of Cars
