- With the ceasefire in full effect, the media has returned to ignoring the daily atrocities in Gaza. My friend Ahmed still needs to feed his family and afford medicine. Anything you can kick in would be hugely appreciated.

This is mostly for Nova, but Elba's shoulder/pec holster is a fucking Blackhawk Serpa, which tells me that both the character and prop team are not competent with firearms.
Very late on this, but my swiss double exists, my ex started dating me because he didn’t want to date her, and then she cheated on me with him. And I would fuck him.
WE HAVE BIG PLAN, YOU KNOW
Surely, you have to do The Sting in heist movie season?
The helicopter is the motorcycle of the sky. Hence is the enemy of the car.
It'd be kinda funny to end off this franchise with doing The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix from 1975
Clocking in to point out that Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is, indeed, a heist movie.
Oh, Nightmare Before Christmas is also a heist movie but can you really make a podcast episode about one of the best movies?
army of two is a ps3 game
Again recommending Logan Lucky for the last leg of heist season
if you're still taking heist season suggestions, may i suggest the Now You See Me trilogy. absurd stage magic heist nonsense that's so fucking smarmy
Please do the original Gone in Sixty Seconds (1971) for Heist Season
Hobbs Locke and 2 Smoking Barrels, is that anything?
This is like, not the most important thing, but the samoan "haka" in this godawful movie is actually called the Siva Tau. I believe the Haka is specifically Maori ceremonial dances
Have you done Army of the Dead & it’s much more enjoyable prequel army of thieves ? Netflix heist movies, but i do love the german guy with safes autism
No Country for Old Men tangentially involves robbery, does that count?
How about How To Steal A Million to resume heist season? It's a nice palate cleanser with a great deal of silly little 60s Eurocars and a bunch of Guys I Love To See to boot.
I feel like Helen Mirren talking about her son and daughter and never acknowledging Owen has a pretty obvious explanation; she transitioned to Hettie in between the films, and we know Helen Mirren is accepting of that because of her trans son, Frank Transporter. "But Sammi!" you say. "How could she have possibly transitioned so fast, and with such a dramatic change in appearance?!" Ahh but remember, we've established this is taking place in the same universe where Sigourney Weaver is going around doing magical overnight transition surgeries. "But Sammi!" you cry. "Didn't Letty cut off all her fingers at the end of that film?" Well as of this film we've established that cybernetics are a thing in this universe, so clearly Sigourney Weaver got a pair of robot hands. Which leaves the question... Does the transing of genders really compensate for having no hands?
im an Australian living in New York rn and GOD i wish someone would own me by handing me a sausage roll SO BAD
I’m sorry Nova, but Army of 2 never released on the PS2, it was a 360/PS3 only title. Your error has been forgiven.
For recommendations of Heist movies let me put forward ' Dead Presidents' (actually a coming of age/ war / heist movie) and an English heist movie 'Face'
To serve as a bridge between Heist Season and War Season, I would recommend Kelly's Heroes.
Yes! Perfect bridge. And do it back to back with Three Kings for a more modern comparison
3000 miles to graceland
Okay but you should pronounce Samoa correctly though. Just as it’s reasonable to get annoyed at Americans saying Edinborough, it’s reasonable to get annoyed at you saying summowa.
Most of Rob Delaney’s film roles consist of inexplicable cameos in the most random of movies, the most recent of which being Primate, where he gets his face eaten by a rabid chimp.
Can I suggest Firefox (1982) for a heist movie? It's directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. Eastwood plays Mitchell Gant, a retired officer called back for one last job, to steal a Soviet plane. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz58yCb6nsY
50:30 I mean, this fits perfectly for the Iliad, so I'll just incorporate it into my system of beliefs
Daughter Who?
Red Notice (highest grossing Netflix film of all time 😭) for heist season, it stars the Rock, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds
If you want something more along the lines of the bicycle thieves, Aimless Bullet (Obaltan) and Under the Skin of the City are fantastic (although not as centrally focused on heists I suppose)
For the sake of un-covered heist films, Lupin the III has several movies beyond the first, and may i also interest you in Baccano if you do shows? Or the Great Pretender, Black Lagoon, or a special ghoul I’ve been haunted by lately, Akudama Drive? There’s also a combo heist-kaiju film out there…Dogora, i think. And the Lupinranger movie but that’s more be gay solve crimes’s department since it features Herlock Sholmes
Consider: Frank Transporter's family has so throughly internalized Frank Transporter's transgender masculinity that they are all retroactively editing their memories to remember him as a little boy instead of a little girl.
For Heist recommendations, Mad Max: Fury Road. It's cars, women and a hiest.
Did you somehow make it through this whole movie without referencing V.A.T.S. or did I just miss it?
If I had a nickel for every time a fast and the furious movie had a CIA guy as an obvious twist villain who never got paid off and just ended up as simply an ally I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's suspicious that it's happened twice.
If you do Logan Lucky, a good companion would be Hell or High Water, since they're both very tonally different looks at rural American poverty and also very good.
100 percent for both of these
Once again asking for Lucky Logan to round out heist season. Daniel Craig doing a West Virginian accent, I mean...
Split diopter in a Fast & Furious movie is like putting caviar on a McDouble.
I would like to try that
I liked this one and can’t wait to find out how wrong I was
Dead Presidents is a heist movie with proper themes, would love to hear you dig into that.
Heist season recommendation: Ordinary Decent Criminal would make a great (terrible) counterpoint to The Usual Suspects
If you're still looking for heist movies that most of your audience probably have seen, I suggest Malcolm. It has representation for KJB's very neurotypical fans, and heavily features Melbourne's tram system, which would be a great reason to have the Weekly Planet boys on (one's a tram driver.) I think the Weekly Planet would be a good tone fit for this podcast. They also love fun awards; like the Game is On for most ham-fisted attempt to set up a sequel, and Best and Worst Hair/Wig. (The people's vote for Worst Hair/Wig is always the Hawkeye Haircut even though that came out 7 years ago.) They also have a patented rating system in which all movies are either Best Movie Ever, Worst Movie Ever, or Just a Movie.
Some previously mentioned movies that was mentioned in past episodes that I really hope you get to: Snatch Lock, Stock, and two smoking barrels Burn After Reading Layer Cake
I was once on a transatlantic flight and watched one of the maze escape chase teen sci-fi series and when I was getting off one of the actresses was on the plane as well. Wasn't sure if I was still asleep or having a stroke or what.
How about a double feature of the Ladykillers?
I humbly request the hiest film Inception and before you boo me offstage I wanna point out the plot hinges on a father son rationship (masculinity) and it features Elliot Page (trans) ok thank you!!!🙇
Not to get too Bluesky about it, but the expression is "having your cake and eating it too", with the "too" being very important. It was meant to mean you can't rules-lawyer your way into getting two pieces of cake by saying "yes I *had* [ate] one piece of cake, but now I'd like to *eat* a piece of cake"
I'd love episodes on Logan Lucky (2017), The Great Train Robbery (1978) and/or Kelly's Heroes (1970) before Heist Season ends. I also hope that a future Gangster Season will include a Geezer Crime run for Guy Ritchie/Matthew Vaughn and their imitators.
I'm just going to point out that Hawaii is effectively also one of those colonial holdings. Look up the Apology Resolution of 1993.
One must imagine Sisyphus podcasting
You should do National Treasure for heist season.
Shortly after Deadpool came out Ryan Reynolds did Detective Pikachu. There was a story going around that he tried out a few character voices before someone told him to just play it as Ryan Reynolds. I think maybe he took that too much to heart.
If you would like to inflict more Ryan Reynolds-based pain on yourselves, there’s the dogshit direct-to-Netflix Michael Bay film “6 Underground”. It’s not a good film but it is Michael Bay so at least it had a vision.
Heist movie suggestion! Sneakers with Sidney Poitier and Robert Redford
So can we all pitch in to get November a new mixer?
My only takeaway from this movie is that, due to Game of Thrones, actress Abigail Thorn is canon to the Fast and Furious universe movies
i'd love to see you guys watch "Undercover Brother" I wonder how the "Q" scene where he gets a watch that squirts hotsauce to make white people food edibe will do on the S.C.U.M. system.
Zack Snyder's 2011 movie Suckerpunch is technically a heist movie, and has the potential to break the scum scale even further.
The only time I've seen that is fairly recently at a nail salon, and I guess enough folks (including me) were making weird faces at it that the manager noticed and changed the channel to some judge show. I had no idea what the plot was.
In a British accent we could pretend that the song is about someone wishing they dared try rimming sooner. .
Does Hackers count as a heist movie?
Absolutely!
It's maybe a little stretch as a heist but Shallow Grave could great for the pod and features alarmingly young Chris Eccleston and Ewan McGregor
Google is not helping me. Why does the pod have beef with Eddie Marsan? * Oh I need to listen for 2 min longer NVM
Helen Mirren could ride The Rock into his grave.
Has anyone suggested Mad Max Fury Road for bonus episode truck season?
How about The Getaway, with Steve McQueen, as a heist movie?
If you're looking for some kind of MST3K torture experiance I suggest A Better Way to Die. Absolute dogshit with a fantastic performance by Andre Braugher.
Remember when these movies used to be about street racing?
Bullet Train, Lock Stock, and Snatch for heist season, unless you’re planning a farce season.
Kelly's Heroes. Throw your only cis listener a bone will ya?
Yes! Do it back to back with Three Kings for a more modern take on the same idea.
I gotta tell ya, the regional "you can get a local foodstuff for money at fatburger, gayslur" is a very good recurring bit.
Before Heist Season ends, I need to recommend Widows. It's been a while since I saw it, but I recall it being a rather feminist deconstruction of "the Heist Movie" as a genre.
It’s also one of the most accurate portrayals of actual American city politics I’ve seen
hey a heist does happen in Osmosis Jones
Re Nietzsche: Kevin Kline in fish called wanda has entered the chat. I was raised by boomers, sorry. It was slightly self-aware, though.
I’ve never seen Hobbs and Shaw, but my reaction whenever this came up in the episode was “wait, they did the Kevin Kline ‘stupidest person you know’s favourite philosopher’ bit, but played it straight?”
You can’t end heist season without doing Bound I won’t forgive you
I just watched it, so I’m suggesting Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget for Heist season. It’s 1) a kids movie, 2) a 2, and 3) conveniently saves the original Chicken Run for War season, so thats 3 reasons you should do it!!! I also think you would enjoy the communism and gender politics of it all :3
Charlotte thats a really fucking good idea
I think the correct term is "Helvetiphile." 😜
Keith Moon blew up his drum set on live TV with too much explosives. You all should find the video of it and watch it because of how insane it is. So that's probably why the safe detonation was "The Keith Moon." Seriously though, watch the Keith Moon drum explosion.
That scene with Dwayne the rock Johnson lifting weights in front of a giant American flag is less a conscious decision in the filmmaker’s part and more a byproduct of going to any American gym.
Hudson Hawk is a great/terrible heist movie.
It is great, no qualifiers.
Bup bup.. it's the worst one.. SO FAR!
Hello
I think the fact that Shaw's first name isn't Calvin shows how awful the writers of this franchise are at comedy.
Just getting this in here before I forget when you mention heist season... does Snatch count?
Heist season stealing steam trains in the confederate side of the US Civil War - Buster Keaton's "The General" (1927). 😉 You might need a railway nerd guest (Justin, Victoria or Gareth) to avoid being ridiculed over terminology.
That's the movie Buster Keaton broke his neck filming. Apparently he had no idea for several years after. Also a good movie, Sherlock Jr is great as well.
To Our Glorious Hosts and anyone curious: a "champagne problem" is a fancy way of saying "rich people problem" or "first world problem". It's a problem one brings on themselves by participating with social circles where champagne is commonly found
Heist movie: "How to Steal a Million" (1966), with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole at their most charming, spending a lot of time together in a closet.
Hey there
Hell or High water is also a great heist movie candidate. Would to see you do an episode about that one
Hell or high water would also be fun because it is a [good] movie written by one Taylor Sheridan, a man you can say many things about right now.
I love Abigail's Wayne's World reference
The only one of these I've seen. Long may it remain that way
I heard 'Thirty minutes to get your dick sucked' and thought 'it do be like that when your partner is on SSRIs'
Fantastic Mr Fox for heist season
Also The Bad Guys here, where November can thirst for Diane and the big cat in the second one- and Zootopia on Be Gay Solve Crimes
Beautiful all-timer thumbnail ❤️
November, we are going on like 3 months without drops. You can't do this to us
Only two left now! soon you'll never have to think about these garbage movies again!
Sorry to say this, but Army of Two was the next console gen with the PS3 and Xbox 360. Spot on though about it being the best coop shooter. I do have a particular soft spot for Kane and Lynch which is just army of two but old dudes
My dad saw the tv ad for K&L and was very confused that it wasn't a movie because he thought that games were still Mario
The problem with Whedon's writing is, when everyone is a comedian, no one is funny.
That is the Nick Fury shoulder holster A champagne problem almost sounds like a Sherlock Holmes reference
Abby's Swiss Double is Byron by lake Geneva in the year without a summer. except aforesaid byron is Lady Byron.
So sad to hear a sad team. I have good news and bad news. There will be a Hobbs and Shaw 2... but take heart, I am on a train in China going 350km/h, much faster than any of those silly cars.
Hey there
Oh this is the one with Roman Reigns in a bit part before they made him Akuma
One of the guys who wrote this film, Chris Morgan, was one of the writers for Wanted's screenplay.
SEATED
