The Boney Island Whitefish in: The Devil’s Caramilk
Andrew, Riley and Devon are joined by journalist and fiancée of the show Rebecca Wilks to tackle the world's largest Chocolate bar, the elegant display of the windows phone 7, and if we're lucky, something... about a bone?

Omg “tell her this one’s from bones” is incredible
Me when this series started: "What's this bones nonsense?" Me now: "Ah, theres the bones."
Apparently James Whistler was known for making these Epicurian feasts for Sunday breakfasts. It was all a part of him selling art.
this is one of two episodes i actually remember from this show. fantastic body discovery honestly
Can we get that overnight oat cauldron recipe??!!
Does finding a body in the chocolate bar invalidate the world record, or is it a no take-backsies situation?
On the question of cultural differences in media: this is just my limited perspective so take it with a massive grain of salt, but I feel like the archetype of a “trickster hero” or “loose cannon” is something that can vary wildly from culture to culture. Because it depends on what cultural norms it’s considered “cool” to transgress, vs which ones make you weird and unrelatable. As well as historical relationship to Law as an institution. I’d be very interested to see what a Chinese audience thinks of something like White Collar, Burn Notice, or the Dark Knight movies.
zip .22 .......but I like em
As a sinoboo, I'm enjoying Devon's China glimpses. But yeah I think I've only watched a couple wuxia type things, and that was specifically when I was half unemployed and trying to learn chinese. Accented Cinemas has a great YouTube video on the Chinese cultural references in Kung Fu hustle that are lost in translation literally or figuratively.
I know of a couple wuxia/xianxia type series that got big on tumblr- mostly the ones based on BL webnovels. The Untamed, Word of Honor, etc. In a way, the story structure is similar to something like the Vampire Diaries, where it’s theoretically a romance, but drawn out via various adventure subplots, twists, and Dramatic Peril. I wonder if one of the reasons this stuff does so well internationally is because it’s like a sampler of common local tropes/plot beats, all in one show.
Thank God, I can't eat breakfast without my breakfast update. I'm so hungry
I don't want to hear Dev talking themself down like this! I've heard their Ben "Mendo" Mendelsohn, and it's delightful. It's not about competency, it's about being willing to give it a go and ask someone if they're been talkin' to the cops. Australians love that stuff.
