Development Update 9.18.2026 - Police Station, Vehicle Improvements, World Updates & More
NeonStrip Development
Hello everyone!
Another week of development is complete!
This week has been a mix of world development, vehicle improvements, controller refinements, and compatibility work. I've also continued going back through existing locations to bring them closer to the visual quality I want for the rest of NeonStrip.
Police Station Development
One of the bigger areas I've started working on is the Police Station.
The exterior has received several new additions and improvements, with more work still planned.
More importantly, development of the Police Station interior has officially begun.
• Added an accessible interior to the Police Station.
• Players can now walk directly in and out of the building.
• Created the initial interior layout and room structure.
• Started establishing the different areas that will eventually make up the station.
• Added more details and improvements to the exterior.
The interior is currently in the greybox stage, so what you see now is only the beginning. The current focus is establishing the layout and making sure the space works properly for gameplay before moving into detailed modeling, textures, props, lighting, and decoration.
More work will also continue on the exterior as the location develops.
Gas Station Improvements
The Volt-X Gas Station has also received another significant visual pass.
I've now finished updating the exterior and interior textures, bringing the location closer to the visual direction I'm establishing for the rest of the world.
• Updated exterior materials and textures.
• Updated interior materials and textures.
• Improved the overall visual consistency of the location.
• Continued adding environmental details and polish.
This is part of the ongoing effort to improve existing locations rather than simply adding more buildings to the map.
Vehicle & Camera Improvements
Vehicles received some important improvements this week as well.
• Fixed camera transition issues when exiting vehicles.
• Made several changes to the vehicle camera system.
• Improved camera positioning and transitions between driving and normal gameplay.
• Players can now look around while sitting in the driver's position.
The vehicle camera changes should make driving feel more natural while giving players more freedom to look around the environment from inside their vehicle.
More refinements to driving and vehicle cameras will continue as needed.
Third-Person Controller Improvements
I've also been making several improvements to the game's Third-Person Controller.
• Smoothed out several areas of character movement.
• Improved camera behavior and corrected problematic camera angles.
• Made additional adjustments to character movement and controller behavior.
• Updated several underlying systems for improved compatibility with the newer Editor version.
Some of this work is more technical and won't necessarily be immediately noticeable, but it helps keep the game's core systems stable as NeonStrip continues development.
UI & System Updates
Several smaller systems have received updates and adjustments as well.
• Additional UI fixes and refinements.
• Compatibility improvements across existing gameplay systems.
• General system cleanup and adjustments.
• Continued bug fixing following recent development changes.
A lot of this week's work has involved making sure existing systems continue working together properly as the project and Editor continue to evolve.
Continuing to Improve the World
The Police Station is going to be one of the more important locations in NeonStrip, so I'm taking the same approach I've recently been using with other areas of the game: build the gameplay foundation first, then gradually bring the environment up to final quality.
With the Gas Station texture overhaul completed and the Police Station interior now underway, I'm continuing to revisit existing parts of the world while improving the systems that support them.
There's still plenty of work ahead for the Police Station in particular. The interior is only at the beginning of development, and the exterior will continue receiving additional improvements as well.
I'll have more progress to share as everything comes together.
Thank you as always for continuing to support NeonStrip!
