play! and ares November compatibility report (and something extra about CxBx-Reloaded...)
This month I had the pleasure to finish a ton of games for both projects again, keeping the play! quick compatibility rise and bringing ares GBA emulation slightly closer to it's "non-experimental state". This also marks the release of play! 0.63 and ares v134.

CxBx-Reloaded
For those that don't know, CxBx-Reloaded is an original XBox emulator. In the past I did a lot of testing to feed their compatibility list (https://cxbx-reloaded.co.uk/compatibility), and verify improvements/regressions with any new Pull Request, but at some point I just... got stuck being unable to do any further tests due to some specific reasons: most developers didn't had any time at all (life outside emulation is a thing), so changes to the code became kinda rare. There's also a major regression that caused a lot of games to simply not work anymore (including games that were previously 100% playable). As a bonus, I had my storage that had all my XBox games dying on me, which left me with no space or ways of testing even if I wanted to. My storage issue was 50% solved with an SSD I got recently, which is enough to bringe me back to testing PS2 games, but far from what I would need for XBox games. But hey, I didn't came here to only bring a sad story, so the good news is that some recent changes to the project (namely "pushbuffer based rendering") are under test and this has already proven to be the solution to many visual issues in a many games verified so far. While it's still incomplete, the current state of the code was able to fix Castlevania: Curse of Darkness gamebreaking issue near an advanced part of the game where you need to use a spell that stops times to reach some doors. Previously the entire screen went black when you cast the spell, only being able to see any geometry while under the wireframe rendering mode... which was far from ideal and not a solution. Now the effect is shown correctly and this isn't an issue, so there's a lot of hope for many gamebreaking visual issues in other games being fixed as well. You can check their latest changes on Github here https://github.com/Cxbx-Reloaded/Cxbx-Reloaded/pulls BUT keep in mind this is very experimental and many games may present issues that aren't found in the master builds of the project.
That's all for November folks, see you all next month ;)
