The next windows background that appears, I travel to
Afternoon all Patreons and a very happy new year! I'm back into work mode now after a very pleasant Christmas break, and here is my first offering. Early access to tomorrow's YouTube adventure vid.
$4 Patreons. You haven't had a video for 6 weeks. The Austria editing ended up taking over pre Christmas, so you will get 2 videos in the next 2 weeks to make up for it.
good subtitles available
Ever gazed at your computer background and thought.. where's that? Imagine if I just travelled there right now. How long would it take me? Would there be any adversity? Today I answer those questions. Join me as I blend Geo Detective with adventure, and have myself a unique adventure in a completely random corner of the globe.
The next windows background that appears, I travel to (YouTube)

just rewatching this now, why were you running when you got off the plane? do you always do that? haha
Fantastic video Tom, really enjoyed that cheers. Looked absolutely stunning. We're thinking about visiting that area of the Dolomites ourselves now!
Makes me wonder how far you could go by connecting church steeples on the horizon. Like, always have to see the next church before you leave the last one.
It was a fun laid back video, thanks for this! I noticed I have a similar thing going on, actually! And weirdly enough, you mentioned the Idaho Sawtooths in this video lol Anyway, long story short: I have a mountain range tattooed on my arm, and I wasn’t actually sure where it was, just that it was from a photograph of a range in central Idaho. I have plane tickets to go hike to the exact spot in May! Gonna have to compare live at the mountain side
Great video Tom, noticed this popped off on YouTube!
Tom , the videos lately have been great!
Tom your videos are so consistently fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures. I loved this one. Amazing what you can do in a couple of days a short flight away.
Funny how the whole time he kept on talking about how fairylike and whimsical the place was, and he was wearing his beanie like a gnome. Ears poking out and everything, true to the mission. Keep it lemon
I've been mourning Taz all day after seeing this....so sorry bro!
As a fellow Brummie, you are an inspiration, Tom! Commented on youtube but yeah I’m going to emulate your shenanigans myself. Thinking Latvia! Keep up the good work my man.
Your videos make me feel so relaxed. Milk this idea dry my friend it’s a good one
This is perhaps my favourite video from my favourite YouTuber. It’s so inspiring and wholesome to see how your adventures have grown from naughty teens field hopping to nearby villages, to climbing the Alps, and making a living whilst doing it, especially by someone so local to me.
Excellent video, what an adventure. colab with Bruno Pusani....
Great stuff. Could you repost the video without the subtitles please.
I love the idea of chasing screensavers and this video that came out of it! And I really liked the boulder zone reference, it's a banger :)
Just a small criticism, I know you prefer us watching with subtitles but some of us really may not like it and find them distracting. I think it should be the viewers choice whether or not we want them rather than being forced. Cheers Tom love the video <3
He said on the YouTube video that it was a mistake they were burned in and it's not the new normal
Happy New Year Tom! This was a great vid idea that I hope you continue to do in the future :) My girlfriend and I watch every one of your videos together even when we're thousands of miles apart. We absolutely love them! (and you;) ) Cheers!
Great video Tom, the landscape on the sunny side was superb and the tone of the video really conveyed how much you enjoyed yourself !
That was so nice. Would you ever consider just doing more multi-day hikes? E.g Alta Via 1, Camino de Santiago, or Coast to Coast in England?
Now this is why Tom is the grand wizard of youtube!
Honestly as good as how not to travel Europe. Great video mate.
Excellent Tom, well played, you must have some great stamina, and what a great idea and to pull it off was brilliant.
Loved this one mate! Definitely do more. I developed intolerance to alcohol in my mid twenties and took me a long time and a lot of bad days of hangover over the tiniest amount of alcohol to accept it. But when i finally did it made my life so much better. I can now enjoy my adventures without feeling sick all the time and the lack of alcohol really dosent make the experience worse at all!
RIP Taz Hat. Gone but never forgotten 🫡
Great idea for a new type of mission dude and great vid as always
RIP to Taz Hat 😔😔😔 you shall never be forgotten 🕊
RIP Taz hat, a true GeoWizard legend
At first I thought you were mad. But I really enjoyed that. Would love to see you do it again!
That has to be one of my favourite videos you've done! The mountains in Italy are stunning 😁
Great video Tom,would love to see more of this style video in the future!
Brilliant Tom ...great idea hope you do more !!
Hi Tom, do you think you will bring other youtubers onto missions with you in the future? I think there are many who would be willing to join you on missions.
Loved the gentile nature of this. You should do more. Be interesting in less touristy spots.
Random and fun, ta Tom :-)
Loved this, keep them coming. The language you may have heard could be “Ladin”
Great video Tom! I always think about doing this when there is a really good photo of somewhere random on the background. More like this please!
Can we have that photo i high res? I want it on my desktop!
Big fan of this series ID! What an awesome place to end up!!
Loved this one - combines your most enjoyable content: GeoDetective and some good adventure.
Fantastic idea. Love it!
I just had a weird thought to myself that if it’s a small place with one bar, one hotel etc there’s a good chance that the photographer that took the image which ended up being that computer background stayed where you did. The more you think about that the cooler it gets.
I'm new here on Patreon and i was pretty late to watch the Austrian tenner, so this is my first time actually watching a vid early! Yay!
Welcome back, hope Christmas was lovely with the family. Happy 2026.
I love not knowing what we'll get next from you. You certainly keep us on our toes. This one could open up a new video idea where you get a Geo Detective picture and you have to work out where it is and go there.
Tom mate, I lost a one of a kind cap last year and it was genuinely devastating. I loved that thin and I wore it everyday. The kicker was that it was a super rare find. I found it in a dressing room backstage at Harrogate Theatre in 2023. You can only get these caps as a freebie if you buy a very expensive violin from a shop called Besson in London. I was gonna email them but I’m honestly not sure they’re still in production. Needless to say I empathised with you strongly at the loss of the Taz. The good news is that after a substantial period of grieving (nearly 9 months) a found an equally brilliant new cap at a shop called Kitchen Provision in Shoreditch. It seems the be a universal law that the best caps come from the most unexpected places. I hope you’re united with a new, and even better cap on your travels in 2026!🙏🏽
Can't wait until you get a background from Saint Helena! :D Great little European adventure! And kudos to that last bar which had some NHL jerseys hanging around! They're ready for the Olympics
I have a idea open a game of geoguesser say uk or Europe map and go to all 5 places in real life
American Italian here. At 34:45 the old man on the left said something about bringing biscotti to someone up the path and the other guy responded with “Rainbolt is much more superior to Geo….” And the conversation abruptly stopped. So not sure of all what was said.
Great idea Tom, and even greater execution. Great video mate 👍
Did you have a house flood? We can see icons/folders on your computer screen
Love this idea! Such a spontaneous adventure. I think you can include a bit of gambling in the photo selection, give yourself maybe 3 chances incase you get a toucan again, but knowing it may end up a worse option with the next photo.
Nooo, not the hat! Amazing adventure though, keep it up :)
Great video as always Tom, wishing you all the best for 2026
I always look up the backgrounds on my work computer! Looking forward to this one
Time to watch this during work hours 😁
Looking forward to this! In 2023, my girlfriend and I went on a week’s holiday to Kotor in Montenegro. This was purely inspired by the daily background on my work computer, felt a real pull to visit after seeing how picturesque it was (we had a great time!)
What a pleasant suprise, looking forward to watching this and the 2 upcoming video’s!
Absolutely buzzing, Merry Christmas and happy new year to you Tom, God Bless!
I've always loved trying to guess where these are, feels like a non meta version of geoguessr!
Looking forward to this!!! Happy new year Tom!
