My Austrian "Tenner in my pocket" adventure takes an unexpected turn (and doesn't end well)
Afternoon patreons! It's a day late but still a day early, and a whopper to boot.
**SUBTITLES RECOMMENDED AS SOME SPEECH IS IN GERMAN**
My Austrian adventure continues and concludes with this hefty final episode, and rest assured that things start to hot up. The interactions increase, as does the foraging, and I even avoid another night on a bench, right at the death. What follows is another of my classic heartwarming but slightly odd experiences, followed by a calamitous ending...

As usual let me know your thoughts in the comments. It was a funny old trip and I appreciate I maybe didn't make the best decisions at times looking back, but hopefully it was entertaining enough. Got some great ideas for 2026 and will do my best to execute them despite the new baby coming in March!
So relieved to have finished the editing for this one. Looking forward to a great Christmas
now. Hope you all have one too!

Eagerly awaing your return...! Hope the holdays have been good for you and the family. Christmas is a whole new thing with a child, eh? 🤗
Finally took the plunge & joined your patron channel, it's the best £4 a month I've ever spent, slowly working my way through your escapades lol
Seeing some weird comments on this video about politics and how you’ve changed but I don’t see it. As for Hens I think that it was a weird situation but you might have overreacted. If you had stayed he probably would have fed you breakfast then drove you to the airport… but what do I know, I’ve never done this.
I also don’t see it, and I am glad. Leaving a note when you suddenly need/want to leave early is the most respectful thing you can do. People who don’t understand that need to go out more. Gotta love Tom and all he is
As an og fan (loved the hometown roulette series would absolutely spam comments trying to get my tiny Aussie town a chance) I can’t help but a notice quite a change in Tom in the last 6 months. I really hope he’s doing alright mentally because I have family with mental health issues and I can’t help but be reminded. It’s sad to see genuinely great salt of the earth smart individuals get pulled into right wing echo chambers and slowly turn into a person filled with daily paranoid thoughts. This video plainly shows Tom (a previously pretty much fearless dude doing whatever to get incredible stories for the grandkids) paranoid over something young Tom would’ve lapped up. Sad to see. Tom, I hope you’re doing alright mate. Wish you all the best.
Seems the same as ever to me. If you've been reading Reddit nonsense about him then it may be your perception that has changed. Being in a foreign country completely alone with limited language skills naturally makes people more cautious and on edge.
Very enjoyable as always thanks Tom 😁 Merry Christmas from Derbyshire 🎅🎄
Happy Christmas everyone! I need to be honest: this video disappointed me deeply. In particular, your behavior toward the cashier (who was insulted simply because of a lack of understanding) and, above all, the profound lack of respect shown toward Henry. Henry opened the doors of his home to you and asked for nothing in return. He offered shelter and clean sheets, and in the middle of the night he was abandoned, with just a couple of pathetic lines of explanation that rang false. And then leaving running, outside, with the equally pathetic excuse of “I wouldn’t want to confuse them even more.” Tom, I don’t recognize you. Have you always been like this and we simply failed to notice, or what happened to you? You are very good at following rules you impose on yourself, so I kindly ask you to follow one simple rule: treat people with respect. Thank you.
Henry said several times that he would offer a bed in exchange for the opportunity to practise his English. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement. And it's important to remember that we only see a fraction of the interactions that took place during both of the interactions you referenced. I also notice other Austrians saying the lady was being rude/disrespectful, so perhaps it is you who is misunderstanding? Your comment seems particularly cynical and void of any charity towards someone who has demonstrated numerous times that he is not a disrespectful individual. I think it's likely your perception has changed and steered you towards a very negative, critical predisposition.
that osrs track was such a pleasant surprise haha
Great video as always!!
Thanks again Tom for another inspiring adventure. Watching them really feels like I am coming a long on your journey, and that I get a bit of that truly liberating feeling you must have. Its highly appreciate.
Did you forget to make it public on YouTube? 😅
Congrats on the new addition to your family. Us too will have our second in March!
Hello Tom, that pate looked rough. Happy to see you survived. Have a great Christmas 🎄
How did that pork paté end up sitting with you? I might try that on bell pepper as well, honestly 😂
Lmaooo 36:17 “A beer!!”
Tom, would it not have been possible to go try and check in for your first flight and have the staff rebook after missing the flight? I've found they will usually rebook in those missed flight situations for a minimal fee, if not for free, when you're at least already at the airport.
Thank you for another entertaining adventure. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.
Nice one. The two parts of this adventure were absolutely nice. Illegal to hitchhike... thats one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Why tho? Funny thing, my gf commented you gobbling down the meat thingy with: "in der Not frisst der Teufel die Wurst auch ohne Brot" (In times of need, the devil eats the sausage without bread). Absolutely fitting comment :P Unfortunate ending, but we enjoyed the two parter! Looking forward to the next adventure!!! Cheers Tom and merry christmas!!!
Hitchhiking is illegal in a lot of places in the USA...I've experienced those exact types of interactions here. I'm actually jealous that it's the first time Tom has ever come across it.
Merry Christmas Tom and your family hope Santa gets little miss geowizards lots of toys
On my birthday! You shouldn't have 🤗
Loved this episode, too. Great way to see my own country with new eyes. Have a wonderful christmas and a happy new year!
Merry Christmas to you and your family Tom! ✨🎄🎅
I was waiting for this video all week! Great stuff as usual Tom. Hens house was definitely something odd. Beautiful exterior and very quirky and weird interior, I can safely say the night terrors were completely justified! Still very nice of him to offer you a place to spend the night tho. The ending was unfortunate, and pricey which definitely sucks, but hey I feel like the adventure has paid off anyways in many more ways, definitely made for great content as always! Looking forward to the next Straight Line Mission now! Oh and Happy Christmas to you Verity and the baby(s)! 🎄
Henry's house was giving Hansel and Gretel vibes.
Merry Christmas, Tom! - Keep the content flowing in 2026 please :)
Merry Christmas to you and your family Tom 🌲
