PAST v1.0-pre2 Released: Improved Ship Defense
With this version of PAST, Starfield enemy landed ship crews now behave as though they actually don't want you to take their stuff.
You can find the latest package in the PAST #releases-latest channel of the GreslinGames Discord, available to Citizen role users. (If you don't currently have Citizen, please read the #read-this-first channel for instructions.) I've also released it here as a convenience for my Patreon subscribers.
You can see the full changelog here.
Features of this version include:
Cockpit crew reaction. If you board a hostile ship, the present crew are immediately alerted (the ship alarm is going off, after all) and shift to a combat stance, including popping the cockpit door and firing as soon as you're visible.
Landing team recalls. When the enemy ship lands in vanilla, a group of up to five crew members exit via the ramp and go on patrol. However, they will not participate in the ship defense if you manage to get inside.
With this version of PAST, the remaining landing team members run back to the ship when the alarm goes off. Once they reach the ramp, they will follow you into the ship and attempt to prevent you from seizing it. They will move reasonably freely through the ship. If you kill the cockpit crew, take the ship, and lift off before you have cleared the landing team, they will still be in the ship when you reach orbit and you will still need to deal with them.
Locked exterior doors. The landing team now locks the ship's exterior door before leaving on their initial patrol. The lock level is always at least Advanced, but may be Master or Expert depending on the levels of the landing team and the player. There is also a 20% flat chance that the ship crew has sealed the door completely, rendering it permanently locked.
Refactored config menus. These ship defense features can all be turned on or off in the config menu. I've also restructured the config menu for clarity and functionality.
The rest of this version is mostly bug fixes and improvements for things that came up in the process of making updated ship defense work.
Have fun,
- G.
