Surviving The Wastes, Solving The Crimes
Hey guys! Hope you all are having a good 2026 so far.
Still doing work on PANPC 2.1. So far, so good: the folks who have played the current beta have had good things to say about it, which tends to make me happy. I'm considering a few updates inspired by The Long Dark (which we are now officially covering on the GG Discord), including some basic scent mechanics that would aggravate PANPC dogs - and possibly Deathclaws - if you happen to be carrying raw meat. If that works out, I may also bring back support for Yao Guai and attempt to tool them into something comparable to TLD bears.
In the meantime, I've also lately been indulging in a game I got hooked on a couple of years ago and still regularly play: Shadows of Doubt. After the 1.0 version of the game was released back in late '24, the author included a set of new gameplay modes, one of which was "Rat Detective". In this mode, you get to play the entire game as a six-inch-tall, crime fighting, wall scaling hot target to every NPC who really, really hates rats. Which is everyone.
By request, I'm now having fun doing a YouTube LP run of SoD Rat Detective, at the maximum difficulty and city size settings. This is a great game, and if you'd like to watch me respawn while every trigger happy maniac in the mean city tries to gun me down, check it out. (Start with Episode 2: I screwed up in Ep 1 and had to start the run over.)
Seriously, I'm just a rat who wants to solve crimes. I don't know what about that is so difficult for people to deal with. Unless.. of course.. they have secrets.
