I believe I've found a way for Steam
Hello! This is a bit of a follow-up from the post I made on Friday. Today I'd like to express not only a well-structured plan that would put the game on Steam, but also one that would make you an integral part of that effort!
First of all, regarding Steam, the method I'd like to go with would be to put the game on Steam for a fixed price, and to add the Night Club content as a FREE DLC (you'd get it by paying for the base game). There were a few NSFW games that would add relatively extreme NSFW content post-launch, which Steam/Valve couldn't vet, and this may be the root cause of NSFW games not being allowed in Early Access now.
This method respects Steam's rules, because they get to review any post-launch NSFW content under the form of a DLC according to the systems they have in place (even if it's a free DLC), and it'd allow me to actually put a lot of effort into the Night Club and not rush it just to get the game out.
The only disadvantage is that people may not be happy to pay for a game that's not "finished", though my hands are tied at the moment and I don't really know what else to do to make sure my subconscious won't want to rush an integral part of the game. I hope that if I convey this in the description clearly, and in the game when you reach the Night Club, that people will be ok with it.
Second of all, regarding your input, the reason why I haven't yet released that poll is because since the game is now fully refactored, it's much easier to actually update the game and add new content (it was a real mess before, navigating through it).
What I want to do is myself play through different parts of the game, see if there's any room for extra NSFW content, and if there is lay it down in an easy to read way and make polls. One poll per important part of the game, as follows:
The intro, ranging from the literal beginning of the game until you leave from the ISA.
The crash content, leading up to "getting" into the Village. Here's one scene I've been given a suggestion for and it might actually work, so it'll be part of the poll.
The Village content.
The getting back to the Ship content. (here we should have an alien 😺 coming onto the ship, I haven't yet added this even though the assets exist in the game, maybe I was waiting for this opportunity)
The City content leading to being able to enter the Night Club.
So there won't be many polls, as that would get exhausting not for me but also for anyone who'd vote in them. Every area is ongoing a state of being polished, and it's the best time to immortalize them within the game with new content.
I believe, or I hope rather, that I did fix that bug where your character may get teleported and sometimes it'd be into empty black space you can't get away from, so that's progress.
I will try to make the polls as engaging as possible, with content you may enjoy, so I can follow through with my Steam plan and to feel much more confident going into the Night Club content that marks the end of this iteration of the game.
If things will go really well this can turn into an actual space exploration game it was supposed to be from the very beginning, but it seems I have a pretty big flaw in that I take things slowly sometimes and the space exploration part was supposed to be in a while ago.
Thank you and I'll keep you updated with my progress, I'm currently going through the ISA content and figuring out if there's extra content we can add so the process of making the game better will be satisfying art-wise as well. Feel free to send me any suggestions by the way!
Also yes, depending on a few things, I may want to release frequent updates (like weekly or whatever) when each area can be considered DONE, content-wise and polish-wise. Depends on how long each area is going to take, so that's why for now my release schedule is changing a bit and there won't be an update this week as it would only include a few bugfixes and improvements, but nothing to mark it as a significant update because the refactoring was really tough and time consuming and I hope it didn't break something I didn't notice.
