Writing Post - March

Alright mates.

How's it going? It is officially Midnight release day! Yes - the vast bulk of us have been playing since Friday but still - Today is officially the day!

As a person that straight up avoids as much of the datamining, articles and beta as I can (because I find I get a lot more out of wow by going in blind) I have enjoyed the levelling content for what it is. Prey is kinda fun (in a... might get old after a few weeks kinda way). I'm really not fond of Valeera as a Delve companion cos she dies ALL THE TIME (but I guess it's still early days / Brann was also pretty annoying back at the start of TWW tbf). Art direction and music all fantastic as per usual - though there were a few cutscenes that made me laugh for all the wrong reasons. Dungeons feel kinda dense imo. Like... A LOT of trash mobs between bosses. TOO MANY trash mobs one could say.

In other news - I had a bit of 'writers block' this last month. Hence only one chapter done. When you're 'pantsing' a first draft - it kinda feels like an exercise in writing yourself into a corner constantly lol. There's a reason most writers don't let anyone see their first draft tbf. It's very often gibberish. But it's important to just keep writing; figure out the story and then fix the glaring issues in Draft 2. Otherwise you're just another person who never finishes a manuscript. So we may well start to go into full-blown messy nonsense territory moving forward.

Saying that; do you wanna hear something a bit weird? When I started writing this Myth of Albus thing... I was not aware AT ALL of the Dreamlands concept specifically in Lovecraft lore. Only learned about that a few weeks ago whilst doing a bit more research because I was struggling for story direction. And yet I still managed to foreshadow this new development in previous chapters. Right back in Chapter One - Beans says to Albus... "You're a dreamer". I've heard people like Stephen King talk about how there's this strange phenomena with story writing that's almost supernatural. As if the story comes THROUGH you rather than FROM you. I always thought that was just a whole bunch of bullshit lol.

Anywho - Hope you enjoy! I'm gonna go right back to playing more Midnight (and probably burn myself out on it before Season 1 even starts).
