DevLog #9... Getting Closer
A lot has changed behind the scenes over the last few days, so here’s a quick update on the next Rest Anywhere release and the upcoming first version of Walk Anywhere.
First of all, I’ve completely rebuilt the HUD. It finally looks like something that wasn’t thrown together on a napkin 😄
More importantly, all of the plugin’s features will now share the same visual style and layout.
I’ve also added a multilingual system, which currently supports 38 languages, with more already on the way.
As for Walk Anywhere, I’m getting very close to finishing the first release.
And yes — I know I won’t be the first person to bring walking to ETS2/ATS. But being first was never really the goal.
What matters to me much more is the quality of the final result and making something that can actually stand out from the other solutions already out there.
I’m not taking anything away from the work other creators have done either. Quite the opposite — recently I’ve seen a few genuinely impressive walking systems, and some of them are really well made.
From the very beginning, though, I set myself a pretty ambitious goal with Walk Anywhere.
Features like the flashlight, refueling, drinking coffee and whatever comes next were never meant to be simple 2D overlays. The idea was always to build them around proper 3D models placed directly into the game world and behaving like real parts of it — reacting to the game’s lighting, materials and rendering just like everything else around them. Even the footstep sounds took me several days to get right, simply because I wanted them to feel as natural and convincing as possible.
That takes more time, but it’s the direction I want to stick with.
And honestly, having more people working on similar ideas can only be good for players. More competition means more choice, more ideas and better solutions for everyone.
So consider this post a small sign that I’m working very hard to make sure that, when you finally get your hands on all of this, you’ll feel like supporting this Patreon was a good decision.

First to all, this plugin is very cool, congratulations! If you need help to translate for Brazilian Portuguese, I'll be ready to help you.
Hello Gelex, sorry for bad english. I have a question about one of your mods your making but i dont know if this is the right place to ask it, and if its not i apologize anyways, the rain mod you have made or are making is it done already so if i take your patreon subsription will i get it or is it work in progress?
I’ve put the rain and dirt work on hold until the next Rest Anywhere update and the release of Walk Anywhere. I fully intend to get back to it as soon as those are out.
hmmm, is it possible to add also hands on the steering wheel? I remember from 2018-2021, there were some mods, but they are not compatible today. I heard many would love to have this, especially for VR etc. Or thats maybe complicated too much?
Adding animated hands for steering is definitely possible, but getting the animations to match the steering wheel movement properly is a real pain in the ass. Personally, I’m not planning to work on that at all.
Do you think you can manage to make Walk Anywhere in Convoy? So we can somehow see our friends player models as well?
Don't think so....
Can u add a feature where we can steal gasoline from other trucks? 😂😂
🤣🤣 lore accurate event
Hi, any estimate on when this will be available, i can’t wait to try it.
Do you think it would be possible to fully model the player so that we can have real interactions between characters in multiplayer? Even if the animations aren’t that great?
Adding a driver model is definitely doable — not only in walking mode, but also while driving from the cab view. The model itself isn’t really the difficult part. The real challenge is getting the animations right, because I honestly can’t imagine using animations that feel cheap or half-baked.
Czy w opcjach gry powinienem wyłączyć symulacje zmęczenia?
Tak. Docelowo planuję integrację tych dwóch mechanik, ale póki co nie powinny one działać obok siebie jednocześnie
Cant wait
that is fantastic.....thanks for all your work
i cant wait but please put maximum security on it to prevent people from stealing it
When I saw GPS with satellite map I was like "take my money Bro" :D
Good afternoon, I purchased the Variant Full License. Kaspersky antivirus is blocking and deleting the TMRealWalk.dll file—the one with the two gears on the icon. Do you happen to know why?
Just contact TM developer... that is not my plugin.
We love you Gelex, this is personally something i've always dreamt of being able to do, cant wait for all the Roeplay possiblities, (Sorry for my broken english)
Every devlog makes the project more promising! 🔥 You can really see the work and progress in the details. Looking forward to the release! 🚛
Italian language 🤩💪🤩
Hey bro, roughly when can Chinese be added in?
It’ll be ready with the next plugin update, so it won’t be long now.
