During your time in Toronto be sure to try some of our excellent Ethiopian food 😀
I hope the next ep on Ukraine has a summary of the military manoeuvres. The news is so saturated with the politics that I don’t have a clue on what’s going on on the ground.
In the offchance you're not already using this resource here it is https://liveuamap.com/
The community needs RWN!
It’s not that you were wrong i find so frustrating it’s that you were so confident
At least they're not the only ones who have a hat to eat! That's the danger in making concrete predictions, you can be irrefutably wrong :P
So. Maybe little bit of mea (Nossa culpa)
Is Katherine working for the CIA? Why all the exotic travel during a pandemic no less? Or is she made up as a cover for the Nerd who is really James Jesus Angleton? Time to come clean! Seriously, another great episode. But you might want to apologize to the Atlantic Council: Vlad pulled the trigger.
It's funny because the invasion still hasn't happened, but Russian troop presence in the separatist regions has been cast as 'an invasion' and therefore all of the journalists who have been shrill about an imminent invasion get to pat themselves on the back and claim victory.
Alice from Trashfuture had a tweet specifically about that type of denial lawyerism. We've been pre-owned. We're corncobbed. We need to update our priors and adjust now.
I bet my coworker 20$ that Russia wouldn't invade the ukraine by 2 weeks from last Thursday so I stand to make a tidy profit from my listenership
Haha nice. I hope you specified that Russian troop presence in the independent republics doesn't count :P
Alpha Blondie reference made me happy :)
About lying in a way that's "too obvious"... for a long time, the celebrity representatives of state power have lied in a way where they clearly have no interest in duping anyone. The lies now are so contrary to every knowable reality that the lies and the liars are actually destroying the capacity of words, numbers, and grammar to convey meaning. And when that happens, it's very difficult to organize against power. What they're also telling us is: they don't care if they convince us or not... we live in a Skinner box, responding to the basest stimuli. No language needed.
Hey guys, I just recently subbed. Great ep. I binged all of your civil war episodes and I'm loving all your other episodes. Is the civil war series finished or can we look forward to some other episodes in the future? Either way I love the podcast!
There are tons of good eps in the back catalogue. I am partial to Hannibale's guest episodes, especially the 100 Years War.
Gary please start doing yoga.
We can’t lose you! This show is too valuable. :)
Another stellar ep guys! Safe travels John
Hey Canadian here with a sister and friends in Toronto. Weather has been pretty wild there latley lots of snow and generally shitty weather but march is usually the beginning of the end of it. Toronto might surprise you with the level of homelessness which is very sad. But it is also one of the most diverse places in north America and there's no end to good food and culture. Definitely check out the royal ontario musuem which is pretty dope.
Definitely post in the fb group if your looking for friends or things to do. Lots of cool people around there. I'm excited to here your impressions of the city lol. If your in Canada for the spring or summer lake huron/bruce peninsula is a great place to explore. That's were I'm from lol
Its pronounced ‘tronno’ the first O and second T are silent
just fill your whole mouth with Tim Hortons donuts and say "Tirana" like the albanian city
Born and raised in Bellingham Washington. Nice to hear a shout out from John.
Was that a 'fouls' vs 'fowls' wordplay? Very nice.
If you remember, that 9/11 guy got to Canada and then had the FBI vouch for him to get the Canadian police to let him go.
