I'd like you guys to disagree a little more, set up positions, debate and defend them etc. That would give structure and shape to the show. I love Brecher/Dolan but the show is too rambling now.
You're probably right, but Mark and I come from the eXile, where the basic structure is 'Our gang vs their gang'.
Great episode. I hope the next one will delve into the background behind the attempted coup in Turkey and the Gulenist movement.
I think this is the quote you mentioned: The following winter passed without disturbance, and was employed in salutary measures. For, to accustom to rest and repose through the charms of luxury a population scattered and barbarous and therefore inclined to war, Agricola gave private encouragement and public aid to the building of temples, courts of justice and dwelling-houses, praising the energetic, and reproving the indolent. Thus an honourable rivalry took the place of compulsion. He likewise provided a liberal education for the sons of the chiefs, and showed such a preference for the natural powers of the Britons over the industry of the Gauls that they who lately disdained the tongue of Rome now coveted its eloquence. Hence, too, a liking sprang up for our style of dress, and the "toga" became fashionable. Step by step they were led to things which dispose to vice, the lounge, the bath, the elegant banquet. All this in their ignorance, they called civilization, when it was but a part of their servitude. http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.02.0081%3Achapter%3D21
Gary is absolutely right. Remember the jesuit oath: perinde ad cadaver, go silently as a dead body.
All the british needed from sudan was enough land for a rail depot for their trans african railway
I'm guessing "sharia" gets a bigger response from Frank Luntz's focus groups than "wahabbi."
It's "matatu" rather than "matuta"
Thanks. I'm still trying to live down putting Luton in Yorkshire. I tellya, there's a million ways you can embarrass yourself on these shows.
Tony Blair converted to Catholicism recently, as well. I don't know why. Actually a curiosity i've had. My guess, there's political and patronage reasons. Sounds like it would be interesting and a little creepy to investigate.
His wife is Catholic, as I recall.
The GTA thing is one of the first things I thought about. IS may or may not be involved here, but wondering if they've used games in their media
I piss on yer slave-dealin' chali-phate!
