Devlog 21
"Red" and "yellow" tasks are practically finished, and the remaining ones are mostly related to art. Essentially, only "green" tasks are left—simple or just monotonous tasks. So the new update is not far off after all.
I decided to split into two parts what I originally wanted to include in a single update. I dont want to cut corners or scale back what planned. Instead, I’m splitting the content — this means you’ll get to play the first half earlier, and the second update will arrive much faster as a result. There’s no concrete plan yet, but I’ll definitely write about what will be included in the nearest update later.
For now, here’s the progress:
Added gamification to scenes
Adjusted all timing for actions in scenes
Reworked scene backgrounds
Added an exit button in scenes
Almost finished the quest system (a very complex task)
I won’t go into all the details about the quests (see the GIF), but I’ll just say that about 1000 lines of code were written and nearly 40 hours were spent. However, now there are quests, navigation, and clear goals for the player. All that’s left is to polish the visuals, tweak a few more code-related things, and this useful, flexible system will work as planned.
