The list of tasks is gradually shrinking, though new ones keep popping up in the process – but they're fairly simple.
I've delved a bit deeper into understanding the core of the tasks. Many require more art than code/engine configuration. I'll set those aside for now, as I mentioned before – it's much more efficient to batch similar tasks without switching contexts.
Here's what I managed to get done:
Need List. Needs and fulfillment are now always shown in the UI, but you first need to talk to a character to find out what they need for the week. This took me three days, though I thought I'd finish it in an evening.
Revamped object interaction. You can now simply hold down a button to exchange resources. Also, if interaction is impossible, an "X" is displayed.
The wife now restores energy once per day. This is part of a larger task related to tutorials and improving gameplay clarity.
Fixed a bug with the shop opening after loading a game. No more black screen – everything works as it should.
There's still so much I want to do, but it seems I will have to make some choices... I'm starting to think about splitting what I wanted to do in one update into two parts. Things have really dragged on, and this way I could at least plan something and give you all at least some new content in the foreseeable future.
