Sadie Gets a Life, 0.3.6 Dev Log, 2026-09-17
We're halfway through the sprint for 0.3.6, so it's time for another game update.
New Minigames
In this release, I'm going to introduce several new minigames. Depending on what you all think about them, I might expand these minigames, flesh them out further, or drop them altogether. Consider this release a beta test for these plugins.
The first one is called Double Entry. The idea of the game is that a series of slips come in and you decide whether this entry is an expense or income.
Using this example, "Rent paid" means you pay it out, so you would press the Left arrow to send it out. Each entry has a time limit, and as you get things wrong, your ledger will get more and more out of balance, so that's a loss condition.
The second minigame is called Load Out. This is kind of like reverse Tetris, where you're trying to pack a space as much as possible within the time limit.
You get to choose between the shapes "on the dock" and whichever one you move, it shows up at the bottom of the wagon. There are two important things to note here. First, once you put something into its resting spot, you can't move it again. Second, unlike Tetris, you don't get "wall bounces" where you can rotate shapes against the wall. If you don't have enough space to make a rotation, you don't get to rotate.
The third minigame is called Web of Lies. The conceit in this minigame is that you need to figure out which lines represent lies, and you get a set of facts to help you out.
In this build, we have three people of interest, and we've put together some claims from witnesses around where these people were at specific times. We, though the magic of television, get some key facts, and can use those facts to snip the lines that represent lies. Once you've taken out all of the lies, you win. If you cut too many factual statements, you lose.
Once release 0.3.6 comes out, I would definitely be interested in getting feedback from people on how these minigames play. Right now, the minigames aren't tied to anything too game-critical, and each of these has difficulty settings in the Options menu, so you can turn down the difficulty on any of them.
Quality of Life Improvements
If you're on the Discord, you've probably seen the slew of bugfixes and game improvements I've been working through. I'll have an official thank you for the release, but to give you an idea of what I've put in:
More than two dozen bugfixes. Which is annoying, only in that I had more than two dozen bugs in the game that I hadn't found.
On a new game, you can decide to start at the beginning, where Sadie is in her old world, or jump straight to the Goblin Cave after Sadie becomes a succubus.
We now have an on-screen indicator for when Sadie needs to go to sleep. You'll see a bed icon in the top-right corner of the screen, which I hope will make it clearer.
Opening the encyclopedia in battle now narrows down to just the enemies you're fighting, so you don't have to go hunting for them anymore. Out of battle, you still get the full encyclopedia experience.
When you go to the recollection room, Sadie generally switches back to her normal clothing. Now, I track what she was wearing coming in, and when she leaves, she'll go back to wearing whatever she was before.
If you have great ideas, want me to deal with in-game annoyances, or find any bugs, all paid members get access to the Discord, and that's the easiest way to get my attention.
