Motion Controllers Support
Couple of people are quite relentness on keep askign for this. I want to hear opinion from members how important this to each one of you, you need to consider tradeoff for this -- is time of delivery, this will dramatticaly increase timeline for it even for games without scopes, scopes just make it x4 more time consuming. So lets say one game with motion controllers 6dof timewise will be comparable to 4-6 games without motion controllers. Given that trade off, I want to know opinion if that is still worth it?

Depends on the games of course. But I really enjoy playing third person games in VR (I just finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade) and that doesn't really need 6DOF anything. But there may be a few special cases worth the time. It would be great to get all those Batman and Gears of War games playable in VR.
Definitly don't need motion controller
Définitly don't need motion controller.
I am one of the vocal minority and I get it, it's not worth the extra time. However, your poll here literally has a negative statement on one answer and a positive statement on the other. It's biased to one result, which defeats the purpose of polling the audience.
i think. depend on the game .
I enjoy the option to play some games in vr seated style, as it is a pleasure to sit down, relax and enjoy the thrill of seated vr gaming. In the other hand though I feel that motion control vr is the ultimate exciting gaming experience.
That would be a complete waste of time. Please don't let a few vocal people asking for motion controls influence what you are already doing.
If you actually committed to motion controls I would become a patron.
Honestly, rarely do I consider a VR conversion worth playing until it has motion controls. Only flight sims or racing sims tend to be immersive w/o motion controls
In my opinion, I'd love to be able to enjoy games with 6DOF VR controllers, but only those that truly take advantage of it, like shooters. For example, a game like Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, or Far Cry 6 with 6DOF VR controllers would be totally worth the wait, and for me, it would be a dream come true.
Really happy to see that the majority fully appreciates flat2vr with a regular gamepad. In some fast third person shooters, like Returnal, I've even started to prefer full stick aiming over head aiming.
If that was something fast, that would be nice, but x4 time work it's not worth it
My thoughts exactly. I would love full motion controls in every game if possible, but I’ve already gotten used to VR with a gamepad and 4x the dev time is not worth it imo. Unfortunately.
No, but not just because of time. The current implementation allows me to play the games they were intended to be played. Very few games are even suitable for these controllers and even then you are messing with the balance and the experience (take Dualsense haptics and adaptive triggers as an example).
Traditional game mechanics. VR camera. Perfect. Flailing and swinging your arms around is way overrated.
no, i dont care about motion controllers, i just want VR 6 dof, gamepad or kb/mouse is good enough, keep it that way please.
I only use 6dof for first person games, just to point and shoot, without any gestures for reloading, holstering, etc. maybe the dev timeline is shorter without complex gestures? Just sticking to first person shooters?
Still, a few thoughts on this poll: In general, I don’t think this poll is a good idea because you can’t generalize it to all games. The result of this poll is basically a foregone conclusion, since most people don’t have the patience. Basically, you don’t even need our approval if the poll is phrased that way… it’s essentially a rhetorical question. It would be better to have a separate poll for each game, even if that makes things a bit more time-consuming for you.
That is exactly framing I want, I have 2 hands only and users need to have in perspective what they ask of me and at what cost
I use a keyboard and mouse in VR
If its a third person game then it's not that worthwhile. If it's a first person game that's different
it's not clear, are we talking 3-6 months delay on every game every time? or just the initial framework for it?...vr without full motion control isn't really proper vr, so of course if the 3-6 months delay is just the initial investment, then it's totally worth it. but if it's per game every single time and not just for a framework (which naturally seems unlikely), then it's a much harder compromise. in my opinion, at the end of the day it'd be to make vr mods as complete as possible, so full 6dof is a major part of that, including allowing forced 1st person view on 3rd person games (which is even more important for vr)
There is no framework for it, it’s not unreal engine, this for each game with motion controls
Absolutely not. Only 2 games per year is a VERY bad tradeoff. Imagine you like a game on the poll, but it's in 6th position. It will take 3 years until it's turn comes. And by then, other new games will have higher priority. So that game will never be made. More games please. I hate motion controllers anyway, they are gimmicky.
and at the end its never perfect anyway
Anything less than full motion support can be obtained for free with vorpx or similar. Real immersion, especially for any fps or fps like experience is 100x better with full motion controller support.
Vorpx is rubbish, not even worth mentioning.
Not worth the delay, plus tired of fumbling around with motion controllers to reload a gun. I'll just push X and call it a day.
So you don’t want virtual reality, you want 3D
absolute waste of time controllers, who wants to hold slippery controllers for hours in front of you. I know some swear by it for some odd reason I really dont know why. Better to get amazing games with head aim and decoupled pitch than one game with useless controllers. :) my view.
controllers aren't slippery, maybe put a piece of tissue (or a toilet paper square) in between, if your hands get sweaty. also, vr controllers need hand straps (i.e. you never need to actually "hold them"), anyone using them without that, surely doesn't know about controller straps or ever tried them
I would say no for 3rd person but yes for some 1st person games
I think the only game that would be that worth it so far is Starfield. That game would be absolutely amazing with 6DOF motion controls. Because you can get 100s of hours of enjoyment with that game. Outside of that, I'd rather have more games personally
Depends on which games. If it’s the top games like Cyberpunk & Avatar, then I’d like motion controls.
Fortunately Cyberpunk 6DOF motion controls is already being worked on.
I'm hoping it's just the vocal minority asking. We don't need to add jank to games. More games is better!
3D screens users without motion controllers are not allowed to vote here ;)
Is this instead of head aiming with a gamepad cos I'm personally not interested in motion controls?
