Frustrations with social media have reached a boiling point. Ad-based feeds have become overrun with brainrot and ragebait. Creators are incentivized to take endless half-court shots at virality, instead of building intentional, long-term connections and communities. Over and over, you've told us you're sick of it. We're sick of it too. And today, we're ready to share our alternative.
Creators can now meaningfully grow their audiences right here on Patreon. This is Patreon's new network, and it's different from social media in one key way: it's built to reward genuine human creativity, not whatever car crash will get the most attention.

Since we first shared our vision last November, we've been working with over 5,000 creators to test, gather feedback, and turn those learnings into tangible improvements to this new network. Already, we’re seeing results that give us hope, with the network delivering over 1 million new members per month to creators.
After building, testing, and iterating, we're finally ready to open up access to even more creators. Read on for a breakdown of what's new, what it means for you, and when and how to get access.
Features launching today
A new mobile Home feed
The new Home feed gets your work seen by more people. It's a personalized network that uses fan overlap to introduce your work to new fans most likely to be interested in what you create. At the same time, it deepens engagement with your current fans, because the posts from fans' existing memberships are prioritized in the discovery feed. Fans also have the option to view work from only the creators they follow in a separate dedicated feed just for their memberships.
Quips
Quips are a new posting format on Patreon that creators can use to share quick, short form thoughts directly into the new Home feed. These posts are free and public, giving you a way to reach new potential fans and offering you a way to share lightweight snapshots of your work separate from long form posts or media rich newsletters.
Collaboration posts
Collaboration posts enable you to co-author a Patreon post with another creator in your network to reach both of your audiences, getting your work in front of a new audience full of fans who are already connected to a creator similar to you.
A single Patreon profile identity
To get access to the network, your creator and member profiles will combine into a single identity whether you’re posting your own work or engaging with someone else’s. This way, your name and work stand out across the platform and streamline the ability for fans to find and access your creator page.

From updated blocking features to automatically detecting spam and harmful language, we’re providing more tools to keep our community safe and we'll continue to share updates here on Patreon for Creators as we keep building.
When and how you can get access
For creators that make work suitable for all ages:
Starting today, all creators that make work suitable for all audiences can get access to the new network experience on Patreon by heading here while logged into your account.
In order to join the network, you must combine your creator and fan Patreon profiles into a single identity. Combining your profiles takes less than a minute and takes effect immediately. By combining profiles, your activity across Patreon (post likes, comments, chat activity and direct messages) will show up as your creator page name, rather than having separate profiles or display names. You can read more about what this entails and the controls you have when you combine profiles in our Help Center.
We'll be introducing more controls on May 27 so that when you combine your profiles, you'll have additional options to customize how your memberships and activity appear across Patreon, including the ability to directly cancel memberships of your choosing, delete your past activity, and/or limit the visibility of your memberships across your combined profile identity.
Once you combine your creator and fan Patreon profiles, you’ll immediately join our new network and get access to new features: new mobile Home feed, Quips, and collaboration posts.
Your fans will experience the new Home feed in their mobile apps, and will be guided through this update in-app and through an email from Patreon (see how we’re talking to fans about these changes!)
You do not have to combine profiles today; however, all creators will be required to combine their profiles by July 6.
We’ll send additional communications as we approach July 6 to guide you through the update. Read more in our Help Center about this requirement and additional the privacy controls coming next month, and be sure to keep your Patreon account email address up to date to receive future emails from the Patreon team.
For creators that make work for Adult/18+ audiences
Starting on May 27, we'll begin rolling out the ability for you to combine your creator and fan profiles, and all creators will be required to combine their profiles by July 6. Before you combine your profiles, you’ll have the ability to delete past activity, cancel memberships, and/or limit the visibility of your memberships and activity. You can read more about what this entails when you combine profiles and privacy controls you'll have in our Help Center.

Additional Patreon feature eligibility coming soon for Adult/18+ creators
Patreon remains committed to serving Adult/18+ creators, which can sometimes mean providing access to new features on staggered timelines.
Available now: Commerce
Earlier this month we expanded access of Patreon’s Commerce features to Adult/18+ creators, which includes the ability to have a Shop tab and monetize individual posts and Collections by offering one-time-purchases.
Available starting on May 27: Collaboration posts
Once you combine your profiles, you’ll have immediate access to start publishing collaboration posts on Patreon with other creators who make work for Adult/18+ audiences.
Coming soon: Patreon Video and Quips
Access to additional features will be expanded for Adult/18+ creators later this year. Over the next few months, we’ll begin rolling out access to both Patreon Video and Quips at the same time. We’re particularly excited to finally bring Patreon Video to more creators, since it’s been one of the most requested features from our Adult creator community.
When Quips begin to roll out for Adult/18+ creators, at first they will be visible to your members only. We will share updates along the way as the Adult/18+ network becomes available. Creators who combine profiles ahead of July 6 will be prioritized in the expanded access of these features. We will send you an email to notify you when you will get access.

Hello Patreon Team, i hope to get a qualified response. If I go to insights and check the email notifications for my posts I can see that not all my members get the notification by email. This is quite frustrating. I have about 1000 free members and 330 paying members, and just roughly 300 people are getting notifications. This is the case for posts that are locked for free members. If I post a free post about 1180 are getting notifications! This is strange because I want to reach also my free members and try to convert them in paying ones! Thank you for your support!

Patreon has designated me an 18+ creator even though my content is not 18+. Not much I can do about that , but I'll be checking out whether Quips will really be of any use once it's available to my designation. If the restrictions simply place my visibility behind the flood of Quips from the under 18 designates , maybe it's not much of a tool for me. We'll see.

I have a question, I don’t really understand when free members get email notifications! I post quite often and I have the possibility to check if free members do receive emails but unfortunately this is not happening all the time. Very often they are not notified! And I always check before posting if notifications will be sent! This is frustrating! I hope to get this clarified soon! Thank you
Hey Cristina, this comes down to the access level you pick when you publish. Free members get notified (email, desktop, app) if the post is set to free access, free members only, or free and paid. If it's set to paid-only, they won't see it at all, which could explain the gaps. It might be worth double checking that setting each time before you go live. If the access level's right and members still aren't getting notified, we would recommend reaching out to our Support team so they can take a closer look: support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I really appreciate that creators that makes content for adult will also have access to those tools . I am still learning how all this works as I am trying to make a cartoon 18+ ( violence , nudity etc ) but I found that there isn't usualy much help for adult creators on platforms in generals . Also , the discoverability of adult creators is also way harder I found since it is a more ''hidden'' section and the fact that everything 18 + is put in the same bag which makes it harder for people that just want to make something for a mature audience but that is not porn . Nothing against porn but would be nice if there could be somekind of way to separate all that . All that to say that I am happy patreon is giving us those tools too and looking forward to see what else they will prepare for the adult section ! Thank you !

Question for you guys - when you make a new post, there's the option to make a quip about it. Is there a way to make a quip about an older post? I'm a writer releasing a book 1 chapter at a time. Would be great to make my quips point to chapter 1. If there's a way to do that, I don't know how. Thanks!
Hey Nicholas, yes, you can reshare older posts from your archive as Quips! To do this, open the post you’d like to reshare, click or tap the 🔁 Share icon, and select Quote. You can then add your own caption or context before publishing. This is a great way to bring attention back to Chapter 1 of your book. Please note that this feature isn’t available to 18+ creators just yet.
Is there a timeline on when will the quips will be available for Adult creators besides "later this year"?
I really like Patreon but so far my youtube network did not follow here, even if I set the account completely free. On the Patreon itself discovery is very difficult. Do we have any creators chats? Or any of the members have it? I was thinking to set one chat for history creators, as this niche has quite a challenge.

The funny thing about this is that I have to have an 18+ page for my horror author page because my stories can get really dark (and, yes, sometimes explicit too). I switched to adults only but now I feel excluded. Waiting patiently to get access to quips. Videos sounds fun too, especially since I want to do readings out of my books.

Bit of constructive criticism - please work a little bit on clarity of messaging to Adult/18+ creators. I just joined the platform recently and got an email from Patreon telling me all about how I can grow my audience through Quips, only to discover that there's no such feature for me on desktop or mobile. I had to dig for this article to figure out why, and here it says that, when I do get Quips, that they'll only be visible to my subscribers. What is the use of that? You're marketing it to creators as a way to reach a wider audience, but not allowing Adult/18+ creators to use it for that purpose. If adult/18+ creators are going to have a different set of features on Patreon, please create specific messaging that applies to us and make sure that's what we get in our inboxes, not updates about new features that we can't use! I wasted a lot of time trying to clear up a confusion that you created!

As more creators and fans join Quips over the next few months, impressions and engagement may fluctuate while the feed continues to calibrate and grow. Also, please note that tagging Patreon for Creators won’t impact the performance or reach of your Quips.
I genuinely don’t understand why so many people are praising the new Quips feed. It looks like a chaotic content dump. Patreon is clearly trying to squeeze more revenue out of creators by pushing ads and recommendations for other creators directly to your subscribers — the same subscribers you spent years building relationships with. Patreon doesn’t really care whether your supporters continue buying from you specifically or start spending money on two or three other creators as well. Patreon still wins financially either way. And of course, just like every other social platform, creators are now expected to produce even more content — including free, highly engaging short-form content — just to avoid disappearing inside this endless stream of noise from other creators. The worst part is that this Quips feed is now the first thing people see when opening the app. Patreon has never been known for good usability. Even before this, users already struggled with finding purchased content, navigating memberships and understanding where things are. Now the very first thing your paying subscribers see is a feed promoting other creators. What an incredible update. This honestly makes me want to leave Patreon entirely and move my audience somewhere else.

So grateful to have Quips as a discovery feature!! Just as an experiential note, in the first few weeks my quip insights were reaching thousands and I was gaining lots of new followers. However ever since the recent changes, I barely get 10 views. Not sure if this is set up to help smaller creators like me, but just figured I’d mention the shift!

I love the idea of Quips, but so far I find that the algorithm is rather heavy handed and restrictive. My feed is full of the creators I follow and accounts like theirs but I would love to see more variety. This is especially true since the creators I follow are music related and my creator account is about tarot/astrology/spirituality. Also, I don't see many accounts on my feed with topics similar to my creator account, but maybe because not many of them are opted in yet?
Patreon will be adding more features for us to customize our Quips feed; I'm pretty sure adding a checklist of topics is on the way, so once that update is live hopefully the checklist/ tags will be specific enough for you to select "Tarot" or "spirituality" as a topic you'd like to see more Quips about! :3 For now, you can press the "..." next to any Quip you're viewing and say 'not interested ' to try getting more variety in your feed. If you're following any 18+ Patreon accounts they won't be able to Quip until later this yr, but once they're able to participate that'll add more variety too!
Still broken for me, and my quip was not seen by a soul
Yeah, this is an issue that I think many people are having now. Been keeping an eye on my analytics for Posts and Quips since last week, monitoring to see if there are any real changes or improvements to reach and engagement, but so far I think most people are finding it a bit underwhelming. Another thing I hasten to add: please implement the option to tag not only in Quips but also in Comments. And extend the new network feature especially the Home Feed and Quips visibility on Desktop too. Hopefully soon.
That`s a good recommendation! Would allow people to search quips by category according to their field of interest and niches. That`s something I was going to add to my next post regarding the new upgrades.
Quips are great but they are very slow to upload. For example a 60 second video uploading to a quip took 5 minutes. A 60 second video to instagram takes seconds.

I’ve sent a few quips out but no traction. Am I doing something wrong?
You’re probably not doing anything wrong. I’ve been testing it this week too, and seeing similar patterns. From what I can tell, Quips don’t get wide reach right away. They seem to get shown to a small initial group, and then expand based on early engagement (likes, comments, etc). That first group is likely a mix of your existing patrons, people you’ve interacted with, and others in similar interest areas. So if those first few people don’t engage, it can stall out pretty quickly. I think the real challenge right now is getting that initial traction so the system has something to work with. Still figuring out the best way to do that myself.🤣

Im confused, the only ‘home’ feed i see is about 10 posts that was liked or commented on by @patreonforcreators, from several days ago. On iphone, or ipad, deleting and reinstalling and theres still nothing else. If i post a quip where does it even go?
Same for me. I kept refreshing the homepage over and over again, but I consistently saw the exact same information—and very little of it at that. I was unable to discover any more interesting creators.

Will there be additional protections for users who do not wish to see NSFW or adult content in their feed? I’m asking both as a user and as a creator thinking about my community. When I invite people to join me on Patreon, I want to be confident that the platform allows them to engage in a space that aligns with their preferences. On other platforms, these controls often exist but aren’t always easy to find or enabled by default, which can lead to unintended exposure. Since these changes are new, I’d love to understand what safeguards and visibility controls will be in place—especially for those who prefer to filter out adult content.
In the app under Profile -> Settings, there's a toggle switch for "view adult content". Pretty sure viewing adult content is blocked off by default but anyone sensitive should double check. Process is also straightforward on desktop: Settings -> Account, then scroll to the bottom to double check your adult content toggle. For thet record, publicly visible/free content can't be NSFW on Patreon (not even the banner, pfp or post titles for NSFW pages.) Because no page wants to get reported/banned, there's not much risk of users seeing NSFW in the Quips feed, no more than any other site where NSFW isn't publicly allowed. Also 18+ pages can't Quip yet - they will be able to on May 27 - but even once they're able to I don't think Patreon will change that "no NSFW publicly" rule even if they wanted to because of the Google Play and Apple App store ToS (Patreon needs to keep their app on those platforms obviously).
This has caused a catastrophe in my 'inbox' and app badge. I use the app to address activity on my creator page. When there's an alert, I used to know it's related to my page and something I may want to address promptly. However, now it could be a random notification from one of a dozen or so pages I'm a free member of. I'm left with a decision. Do I turn off all notifications for all followed pages, so that the badge alerts me only for activity on my own page (which will take something like 1,000 clicks)? Or, do I just cancel all free memberships for now until this gets sorted (a dozen clicks)? I imagine this chaos is going to eradicate a ton of memberships and destroy creators abilities to notify members as creators turn off notifications.
Welp, I ended up canceling two dozen free memberships due to the mingling of alerts with my creator page. I screenshotted all of them so that I may rejoin if this gets sorted in the future. May if you could set what the badge alerts include (your page vs. all memberships) that would solve it. So it goes
One thing I'd love to see is the ability to post MP3s to quips. As a musician, I feel like my ability to share the neat things I've made and can provide to other people is severely limited if I have to make a video for every song I want to share.

A really great change I signed up for here on Patreon last night is combining my accounts. Previously when I commented only my name came up now my patreon page name comes up and if you hover over it you can see a preview of what the page is about. This was really needed as before when people commented it was very hard to find their patreon page even typing in their name into the search bar which meant they missed out on people supporting their page. Now by clicking on their patreon page name above the comment you can view their page easily. A major breakthrough in my opinion for patreon.
So sad we cannot participate as Adult creators :(

Do you mean quips? If so just press the + button at the bottom of your page, and it should be right there in that menu “QUIPS” I don’t know how effective mine have been in discovery, but I do know my members really love them.

Apparently you can tag people. Technically I can tag some people, but why not Salvatore of DMOD? He has a patreon. Why won't his profile show up for me in the tagging menu? Do people have to switch to the updated format of accounts to be tagged or something like that?
You can tag creators in Quips or add them as collaborators to collaboration posts once they have combined their membership and creator profiles and entered the network! If Salvatore has not yet joined the network, they won't yet have access to Quips and cannot be tagged.
How do you add a collaborator to a Quip? I don't see a button to even do that.

I feel like that feature would just get abused by a lot of creators to spam the Quips feed with blurred posts to advertise their Patreon page. Not very engaging for non-subscribers who are browsing. :/ I think it's actually much more enticing for creators to share an unblurred little snippet/sample for free. A browsing potential customer is actually going to get intrigued by that. I feel like quips are meant for sharing less formal things than official Patreon posts anyway.
Why did Patreon essentially bury the chronological/searchable feed one click deeper in the posts tab instead of just adding it to the curated homepage experience? This fundamentally impairs how my Patreon works. Very poor.
Will +18 content creators be able to make public quips if there is no nsfw content in them?
Yes, on may 27 nsfw pages can quip. No free/publicly visible content on Patreon is allowed to be nsfw anyway (not even the banner or pfp of an 18+ page) so regardless of whether you have 18+ content behind your paywall, I think all quips will always be sfw content only. BUT it is very interesting to wonder whether there will eventually be two pools of quips: a sfw page pool and a nsfw page pool. 🤔 I sure hope it's everyone all together in one pool though bc I think making any major separation between pages damages the discoverability purpose of quips. I know some people might not want to see even a sfw post from a nsfw account, but I think those people should just have the option to turn nsfw off in their suggestions feed instead of the entire app segregating sfw from nsfw automatically.

i think i would rather have the ability to fully opt out of this ecosystem and, while i'm at it, opt out of appearing on the apple store as well so i can keep my "per update" billing. i use patreon exclusively as a intermediary payment processor and have been using it as such since its inception. there is no appeal in trying to build "community" here. i just want to be able to charge people per thing i make without involving myself in a social media site that exists exclusively as a means to make money
If you just want to sell individual items, a shop like big cartel or gumroad or etsy or ko-fi might be better site/app for you to use

The waitlist and invitation system was part of early access, starting today, new creators who make work suitable for all ages will automatically be part of the Patreon network, and creators with all age audiences can follow the instructions in this post to join. Starting on May 27th, creators who make work for adult/18+ audiences will be able to combine their profiles to access the new Home feed and collaboration posts.
I wonder why the first link on "here" doesn't work properly. But either way, I already received the network bundle update through wait-list, and though it took quite a while and was very skeptical at first, I'm using it & not finding bad at all for improving my discoverability. Thanks Patreon.

Hi Cash. Our Home feed is designed to help people discover creators and communities they’ll genuinely care about — instead of optimizing for attention. Below are some more details on the main signals we use today: Connected creators (who fans already support and interact with): We prioritize posts and Quips from creators a fan is already connected to. We’re also actively tuning this so connected Quips show up more reliably near the top for creators that we know fans care about. Freshness: Newer Quips and public posts are more likely to show up — especially when they start getting early engagement. Creator interaction (creators help creators): When creators like, comment on, or reshare another creator’s Quip or public post, it can help that post reach more people. That interaction acts like a recommendation for your fans. Community engagement (“fan love”): Engagement from your free and paid members is a strong signal that your Quip or post is resonating. - Similar fandoms: We use shared interests and engagement patterns to recommend creators to people who are likely to be into them. Our ranking is a work in progress and we want to keep improving it with creator and fan feedback. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts!

This direction is severely out of touch with the creator experience. The surveys are far too general for you to get meaningful insight for these kinds of sweeping platform wide changes. I have lost all confidence in Patreon. The more I look into it, the more I hate it. "This new network was built around a simple belief: discovery on Patreon should serve human creativity, not the other way around." Translation: Those who post the most get discovered. It should be the literal opposite where those that post the best get attention. This is a site to support people making cool stuff. That's the lightning in the bottle. Changing the core user engagement method to being feed spam like every other social platform will be disastrous for your company.
Looking forward to being able to post Quips on desktop, not just mobile (and maybe the ability to schedule them too!).
