What a network built on connection means for fans
Creators and their fans deserve a better internet – and we’re building one. You can learn all about what that means for you as a creator, but what does this actually look like for your members and fans?
Your community will see a brand new Home feed
When you combine your profiles and enter the network, your existing members will now have the option to view two distinct feeds within Patreon's mobile app.
A Home feed that shows members posts and Quips from creators they already follow — ranked at the top — along with recommendations for creators and communities they may not have interacted with yet. Soon, these recommendations will also be based on interests they can select, and the overlap between creator communities on Patreon.
A feed just for memberships that is exactly what it sounds like: this feed will feature posts and Quips from your fans' memberships, and will not have recommendations from creators they aren’t already a member of.
These two feeds provide fans the option to discover new creators and communities within their interests, while also having the ability to easily tap into the creator communities they are already part of with their memberships.
The other notable new feature fans will encounter is Quips – a new posting format on Patreon that creators can use to share quick, short form thoughts directly into the new Home feed. These posts are free and public, letting fans discover more creators right on Patreon in a lightweight way before making the decision to joining a creator's membership.
In case fans ask you directly about why they’re seeing these new feeds and Quips, here’s some language you can use:
The updates you’re seeing are part of Patreon’s investment in becoming a network driven by human creativity and connection.
The Home feed helps you discover new creators you might love, while the feed just for your memberships keeps you up to date on new work from the creators you already support.
Quips let creators like me share quick updates with both existing members and fans who haven’t yet discovered this community. I encourage you to interact with any you see – it’s a great new way for creators to showcase creative work and for you to find new creators you’ll love, while still keeping in touch with me.
Fans set the pace of their discovery
Fans and members on Patreon aren't passive recipients of whatever is presented to them. They have the ability to very directly shape their experience on Patreon and influence what they discover. They can:
Toggle between feeds and find their people fast. Members can switch between the Home feed and the feed dedicated to just their memberships at any time to control whether they are actively discovering new creators and communities, or just engaging with the ones they’re already members of. If they swipe left or tap the set of icons in the top left of either feed, they can quickly access a list of every membership they have.
Tell us their interests from day one. Soon, new fans installing the app can pick interests before they get into the Patreon app, from broad categories down to specific topics. Their feed starts from those picks, not from scratch. The more they select, the more relevant their experience becomes — for them, and for the creators they discover.
Improve feed relevance and experience through everyday actions. As fans engage with more creators, Quips, and posts within their feeds, over time their activity will improve their feeds by making them feel more relevant and personalized. Liking posts, leaving comments, and joining creators all signal what members want more of. Tapping the ‘…’ menu and selecting ‘Not Interested’ on a post adjusts discovery experiences to not include those topics in the future.
Fans can engage and participate how they choose
Beyond just discovery, fans can also engage and participate to the degree they choose.
Comments are getting better. We're improving the commenting experience so the most engaging conversations are surfaced first. Members can switch between sorting comments in chronological order, or to the most engaging threads to hop into discussions with the community.
Fans can manage when they hear from you. When you post or reshare a Quip, your members get notifications to make sure they don’t miss it. Members can always navigate to Notification settings to control whether they hear about all your Quips and Posts, or just those notifications you choose to share for your longer-form work.
We’re letting fans know what the new Patreon network means for them
We know how valuable relationships are on Patreon, so we’re making sure your fans and members know exactly what’s changing, why, and how to make the most of these updates to deepen their connections with creators like you. To make sure they have the latest, all fans:
Are receiving emails that guide them through the changes to their experience on Patreon, and the tools they have to make it better.
Have access to our Help Center to answer their questions about the new Home and Membership feeds, their Notification settings, and how to make their discovery experience more relevant.
Will see updates across Patreon, press, and on Patreon's social channels about the network and how to make the most of it.
We want to hear from them, too
Just as we want creators to shape this experience, we’ve built a few ways for fans and members to tell us what’s working and what’s not.
"Not Interested" is the most direct signal fans have. Tapping the '...' icon on any post and selecting “Not Interested” tells us to show them less of that subject area.
For anything else, fans can head to our Help Center, or contact our Support team directly. If your fans bring feedback or issues to you first, that's the right place to point them.
A few more things to note
The new Home feed is currently only viewable on the app. Right now, Quips only appear in fans' mobile feeds. Fans can view your Quips on web through the "Quips" tab on your Patreon page, or via direct links, but they won't see Quips in a web feed. Web support is in progress and will be coming soon.
For creators who make work for Adult/18+ audiences: Members using the Patreon app will now see posts from creators who make work for all age audiences in their Home feed. Your posts are not affected — they'll continue appearing in your members' Home feed, their membership feed, on your Patreon page, and in any emails you send, exactly as before.
If your fans and members have questions about why Patreon is pivoting this way, feel free to direct them to this open letter from Drew Rowny, Patreon's VP of Product.
Building a better internet
Patreon will always be a place where creators run and grow their businesses, and where fan communities thrive. Our new network expands on that promise by giving creators more ways to reach new fans, while giving fans more ways to find and connect with the creators they love, all directly on Patreon.
If your members reach out to you with questions about their experience, or if they need any help along the way, please feel free to point them to Patreon's Help Center, and if they need additional support, our Support team is happy to assist them directly.

Thanks guys just discovered this and it was much needed 🫂
This seems like a fascinating and well thought out alternative to "social media". Looking forward to testing it out.
This is the best update I have seen from team Patreon. Can we have promoted posts in the future?
As a new creator, I can only say thank you for the updates that help us grow 🥰🤍
A question about Interests: As a multidisciplinary creator, will my fans eventually be able to filter Which of my posts and quips they want to receive alerts about? Maybe they only want notifications for my music, but not my fiber arts posts or my travel Musings and such. I don't want to overwhelm existing subscribers, nor do I want someone who clicks "uninterested" on a cooking post to then miss out on a music post. Will this be possible?
love it!
I like the Quips feature and am curious to see how members respond to it.
Love seeing what’s in store and grateful that you are building this out 😊
This is a great way to help discover- ability, without having to leave the platform!
I really enjoy the new quip feature… however I’m having difficulty sharing on quips and sharing what is for my members only 😅 any recommendations on how to balance it? Or what exactly should I post as “quips” versus membership content?
I am keen to expand my audience though I am still not sure how to use Quip...looking forward to see how it goes as I am new to Patreon.
🌞🌞🌞
Yes!!!! Love the platform, love the community both as a whole and in our niche as well!
I would love to see a little feature, which other networks don't have, despite the available technology: to mark a text and add a comment. Other may even see my comments. And on my personal page I would have a page with the collection of my comments and links to the original texts. This would make Patreon stand up from every other network, because you would see the interaction of the users word by word in the written content. Indeed there are many possibilities. Some seems small, but make huge differences.
Thank you for building the space for us in the hellish landscape, making patreon stand out as an oasis we much needed. Appreciate the modern scrolling Quip look alot and now its much easier to advertise my account here.
Yeah
For most people content creation does little. Never had a good experience on this site.
Been loving these new features! Been able to discover new artists. Keep it up.
Great idea!
I will give this a try (since I’m being forced to), but my initial reaction to this new feature is disappointment. My home page is now filled with stuff I have no interest in, because algorithms - not my nuanced, human brain - are choosing things for me based on surface level ideas. I chose Patreon over Substack to, among other things, get away from this sort of thing. I don’t see how this is different from social media except that ads aren’t being forced down our throats. “Fan engagement” - as you’re selling it - is synonymous with “watch time”, so we are now being forced to enter into competition here, getting hooked on numbers, and getting boosted based on activity within the platform. I’m not into it. But we’ll see.
There are 2 feeds: Home feed and Membership feed. If you only want to see stuff from folks you're subscribed to, you can stay scrolling in Membership feed. Only posts and quips from folks you're following are in there. If you want to explore and see quips from new folks, go to the Home feed. That's the only place where the suggested/algorithm posts are so they're easy to avoid if that's not what you're looking for at the moment. More features to specify or dismiss posts from your suggesteds (and thus curate them to your interests) are on the way. Plus home feed quips aren't even visible on desktop for right now, they're only in the app. Both Home and Membership feed tabs are always accessible in the app so you can switch from one to the other whenever you want. Patreon has also sent out email to patrons so the burden of having to explain these changes isn't on us creators. I'm excited about this as a new opportunity for us creators! 🙂 There's nothing being forced into anyone's face, unlike social media.
The ability to curate the Home tab by selecting interests will be great! 💃😍 Will there be a way for creators to tag themselves/their page too? Will it be subject matter tags that are more general like "advice/learning" or more specific subject matter tags like "vampire" for example? Will there be tags for tone too, like "cozy" or "epic"?
Cool ideas, the selecting interests tab and tagging ourselves with our page. Are they gonna implement it soon?
Shot, this looks awesome
I have a problem with a posting video as a quip. It is always just uploading without actually uploading it. It is like that since I got early access few weeks ago.
Videos for Quips should not exceed 2minutes, so be sure the video you're uploading is not longer than that, and that you're using the latest version of the Patreon app. If you're still having trouble, please reach out to our support team and let them know what type of device and operating system you are using, and they'll be able to assist you directly to identify, and resolve, the issue. https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I love it & I’m super excited for all of us!!
I've been enjoying meeting new creators to potentially collaborate with via quips!
I'm excited to see the evolution of the internet and how it is going to start really working for the People, and in the direction of all of Us
