hang out and chat on the bed
this mod adds a new double bed interaction called "hang out and chat with..."
it is available only to sims who are already friends (teens to elders).
base game compatible
includes xml injectorupd. july 3, 2026: tuning adjustments & fixes.
upd. march 20, 2026: removed relationship gain during the interaction and added a larger boost at the end, so no more constant relationship pop-ups.
upd. jan. 9, 2026: fixed a bug that sometimes caused the interaction to cancel before starting, + romantic partners can now also perform the interaction autonomously.
here are two animation styles based on the sim's gender. you can switch between them using my other mod!
outcomes:
the initiating sim can learn more about the other sim such as:
a trait;
a career:
are they single,
sexual orientation,
turn-ons and turn-offs, etc.I created a set of new notifications (100+) about career, financial status, and romantic situation. the notifications follow the style of in game messages and are based on the sims data.
career: employed, unemployed, or is in school or university.
relationship: in a relationship or single.
financial status:
worrying about money (below 40,000)
stable and comfortable (40,000 to 250,000)
very good or luxury level (above 250,000)
the amount includes the cost of the house and furniture as well.
increases social and fun motives;
slightly improves relationships;
for teens, slightly increases 'empathy' and 'emotional control' (gp “parenthood”);
both sims receive the following buff;
there is a chance to gain the trusting sentiment, if you have 'high school years' ep.
autonomy
sims can do the interaction autonomously under the following conditions:
the sim is a teen or young adult;
the day is thursday, friday, saturday or sunday;
the time is between 4 pm and 11 pm;
the sims are either good friends or bff;
the sims are not parents and children, and not grandparents and grandchildren.
possible conflicts
'adventure awaits call and visit tweak' by sims4me may somehow cause errors. if you have this mod installed and experience issues, please try removing it.

this is greyed out for me. it says that no friends are around to hang out with even though there are. Any fix for this would be much appreciated!
Hello! I noticed 2 months ago somebody pointed this out, but I'm still having conflicts between this mod and midnitetechs call me maybe. From what I understood from your response it should've been fixed, if I interpreted this wrong feel free to ignore. But I thought I'd point it out again just incase something happened with it.
Hey - loving this mod, it's such a cute interaction and is perfect for university roomies! I have found however that with two teens they don't hang out, they just curl up wherever they are and go to sleep lol! Let me know if you need any details from my game - I have XML injector and it's just the teen interaction that seems to have gone wonky :)

Hey idk if this might be a problem on my end with the mod requirements or if it's just a bug, but the interaction won't work for my teen sims. I tried it multiple times on two teen sims who are good friends and every time they just canceled the interaction. I have the xml injector installed and it works perfectly for my young adult sims, and the only other mods I have installed are mccc and ui cheats. I also tried to do it during the autonomy requirement times, and I just can't get it to work for my teens. :(
I also just looked at your what to do if the mod doesn't work, I stripped my mods folder of everything except this mod and the xml injector, and deleted my localthumbcache, and it still cancels for just the teens.

I love love love this mod for the AU I'm building. It seems like they could only use the right side of the bed when the interaction starts (unless I'm stupid). Is there any way that a future update can include the same interaction for the left? Your choice, not necessary of course.

Hii! I'm having an issue with this mod where the interaction shows in their task queue but when one of them gets near the bed the interaction cancels. Also, I tried it on one of my previous households and it worked, now it doesn't anymore. Lmk if there's a way to fix this! 💕

Are you sure theres not a problem with your bed? Could be anything like a bed being impossible to reach or something else..
Can you make a mod such as the old one by flowerbunny which allowed 2 sims to sleep in the same bed, regardless of relationship; even enemies?

Hello! I love this mod so much! But does this work with sims that are related? For example I have two sims that are cousins of the opposite sex and I want them to perform the interaction but it queues and the sims go to the location but then the action cancels. They are also friends. Thank you so much again for this mod either way it’s so immersive! 💕

Is the xml injector required for this to work or can you just download it..
In most cases, the xml injector is required, so i would jsut download it, its free, and easy to download. Also you will need it for other mods anyway.

hi! unfortunately, i haven’t encountered this issue before, so i’m not entirely sure what could cause the sim to do that. i’d suggest redownloading the mod, as i recently made some fixes and it’s possible this also addressed this issue as a second step, please try the third step from my “what to do if the mod doesn’t work” guide: https://sites.google.com/view/simkatu/if-the-mod-doesnt-work if the problem still happens, could you please share more details, such as which specific bed you’re using, the sims involved (age and gender), and their relationship. this would really help me try to reproduce the issue

Hello! Thank you very much for your hard work. I have a question regarding a bug. After deleting all cache files and removing every mod from the Mods folder, I tested the game with only the XML Injector mod and this mod installed. I found that the mod only works in romantic relationships. Between parent–child relationships or between friends, the two Sims just stand next to the bed and nothing happens. Could you please let me know what the conditions are for this mod to function?

hi! thank you for your comment 🤍 i’m not sure i fully understood what you meant, so please correct me if i’m wrong. if you’re referring to the requirement for sims to be friends in order to use the interaction, that was a conscious design choice. i like creating mods that are at least a little connected to gameplay, not just standalone animations. becoming friends in the sims is very easy, so i hope this restriction doesn’t take away too much from the experience

It's such as cute addition to the game <3 I was wondering if sims who are BFFs and in a romantic relationship are still able to do this interaction autonomously? I mostly play with couples so it's sort of a shame that they're excluded from being able to perform it autonomously.
hi! thank you, i’m really glad you like it 💛 this interaction was originally meant to be more friendly, with “girl talk” vibes, so i restricted autonomy for romantic sims. after seeing how people play, i’m planning to remove that restriction in an upcoming update
Hi! For some reason, when I download XML Injector, when I try to load my sims save ,it just kicks me into the world menu. When i click onto my sims world, and on their lot, it kicks me onto the world menu again. I know you didn't make XML Injector, but do you have any ideas on how I can fix this?
Hey, I have gone through the same thing before. The issue isn't XML. However, sometimes its because you have an old outdated mod that is no longer supported, or needs to be updated. Go through everything you have in your Mods folder. Usually, the 50/50 method is best. The ones that you know for sure that are updated and working properly, put those in first then load a household. After that, keep repeating that cycle. When I did this, I ended up finding two small mods that I forgot I had. On the flip side, basemental's mod was working fine for me for years until one patch, then it didn't. I had to take it out. After some time and other patch updates, it started working again which it crazy. I hope this helps.

i'm not sure why mine isn't working :( i deleted the cache, reset objects, but they still just stand by the bed. all the other overrides work though
i uninstalled and reinstalled my xml injector, and i have no idea what happened but it started working!

Hi! Whenever I try to make my two sims (Mother and daughter) hang out and chat they never sit on the bed. They just stand by it.
i’d recommend clearing the game cache, and trying to move or replace the bed or nearby objects. you can also try resetting both sims after the failed attempt and starting again. i hope this helps(
